I’m a black and white photographer. I take photographs and print in my darkroom. I was shooting on a sidewalk once and this guy I didn’t even notice was eating outside a restaurant and went ape shit on me. He started jumping around and yelling at me that I can’t take pictures! I didn’t even notice the guy until he acted like a fool. I got his picture and printed it. It’s framed now in a gallery Thanks to him

Because the people in the town who pay the cops’ salaries are reporting suspicious activities in their community and want it checked out. There are a lot of nuts out there. It's strange, but Jason was previously a better auditor. The cop got out of his car and merely started asking questions - which Jason was under zero obligation to answer. Instead of simply refusing to answer, Jason kinda goes off on the cop. Neither the cop nor the supervisor ever attempted to demand any information. He MUST stop freaking out about people asking him questions. I know that he has good reasons to be defensive, but he needs to resist his compulsions.

It’s crazy that the police acknowledge that it’s entirely lawful and legal to continue taking pictures but then requested that they relinquish that right and ask you to make adjustments to your lawful activities because it makes people “feel” a certain way. It’s not anyones responsibility to make people feel comfortable or feel good through their day, that’s a them problem. It’s up to the individual to control how they feel, not up to others around them to make sure they’re content.

Well stated. Police training has led them to believe they are supposed to be mediators in every situation they are presented with. Police want the public to see them as authority figures, not people who are tied at their hands and only allowed to handle situations in particular manners. That is precisely why you rarely see police apologizing or giving up the edge... It's sad because if the officers just approached the situation from a place of strength, intelligence, and compassion, they would receive all the respect and authority they desire.

I hate when cops say “I’m also recording” and defer to there camera. Because the truth about there recording is it costs roughly $40 to receive it, officers tend to mute or remove visuals from altercations & when you do receive the footage, it can often be redacted by the chief or captain and labeled as “under investigation” if civil rights were violated. Which they often are. And it takes weeks to receive whatever footage they show you.. Meanwhile recording for yourself is immediately available, un-redacted, and FREE! Also on a different point, I hope pinky & the brain here learned a little something about asking people to vacate the sidewalk 🤷‍♂️ Lol
