First tractor, first disc. Just hooked it up tonight and tried a run to my disappointment. Cutting depth was about 2-3 inches but the ground is still pretty wet. Your video just answered all of the questions I had about adjustments. Thanks!! Should I wait till the ground is drier before discing? My end goal is to return a cornfield to level ground for tree planting, maybe a pond and a track for my grandkids to ride 4-wheelers too.

Hello Belarch, We are delighted that our video helped you and thank you for watching! Yes, we would agree that waiting a while for the ground to dry out is a good thing. If the soil is too wet, the harrow will form clods depending on your soil type. If it's too dry, you won't be successful either. We would recommend continual experimenting from time to time and you will know when the right conditions are present as you will be able to see some good cutting results! Your first goal, of course, would be to get rid of those cornstalks which can be challenging with smaller harrows, and discing your plot in alternating swatch directions will be a plus as each different angle you run, will cut the stalks into smaller pieces leading to a quicker decay process. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions, always happy to help. Have a great day!

Is it correct that adjusting the gang angle will not change the working width of the harrow since the outside discs are the "pivot" of the adjustment and stationary? I have a 79" inch wide tractor, wondering if an 80" disk will cover my tracks in every gang angle.

Hi Mike - You are partially correct but due to your scenario here, we feel this is a little too close for comfort! If you have a moment to connect with one of our techs, we can help troubleshoot the sizes you have here and make sure you have the right setup for your harrow working drag area. Feel free to email the Agri Supply team @Agri Supply Tech Thanks for watching & leaving us your comment! Look forward to speaking with you.

what are the disc's made of? some makes wears off quickly! i thinks it's made from iron
@AgriSupplyCo14 күн бұрын
Hey there @peugeot_air thanks for watching! The blade materials really depend on the manufacturer and types of discs you intended on using in the field. If you find they are wearing out too quickly, it might be a problem with the diameter or type of blade you are using in the soil. Disc question . Have only 1 roll and I want to have the blades turned in . will it work and which way should I set my V facing front or back ?
@AgriSupplyCo2 жыл бұрын
Hello Steve, Yes, this will work on your single row harrow. Turning the blades to the inside will be fine. Starting with the point of the V towards the tractor would likely give you a more aggressive cutting action. We suggest that you take the time to make multiple trips across your plot and after a couple of cuts, you may have to gradually start adjusting it the other way. In order to maintain a somewhat level area, another good idea would be to place the center of your tractor in the slot made between the passes and continue making your swaths across the plot. That way your final cut will likely be less of an angle as you are mainly leveling things out. On your multiple passes, it's also a good idea to run at a 45-degree angle some of the time in order to make good shaping of the area reducing both hills and holes. We hope this is helpful! Feel free to reach out to our customer care team directly if you have any other questions about disc harrows at 1-800-345-0169. Thanks again for watching!

I just bought the 5’5 foot disk harrow model 400B for my tractor and mine has a pin to lock and unlock the gang’s and it’s hard to move them I have to use a ten pound sledgehammer to move them
@AgriSupplyCo2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steven for your comment & checking us out! Yeah some of those pins can be a little tricky, especially the more you use your harrow out in the field. You might want to check the threading or apply some grease oil around those points to help next time? Just a thought...have a good day!
