@rustyshield I think Anakin trained her to fight against clones to make sure she could defend herself against anything. Not all padawans trained that aggressively. Anakin was a warrior and was in battle very often. His padawan would have to be able to handle herself. And Ahsoka is very powerful and in tune with the force. Most Jedi acted as negotiators or escorts for important political figures.

Ezra already battled his inner Dark Side in Series 3 and 4 of Rebels. The letting go of Kanan and the chance of being reunited with his parents and sacrificing himself for his planet places him firmly in the Light. The only way Ezra would be alligned with the Dark Side would be through brainwashing and torture.

This may be a long stretch of an argument but : Since we are on our way to see Thrawn and possibly the Empire of the Hand, could it be that Marek is actually Marek Steele? For those who do not know who i am talking about, Steele is the player - character of the old TIE Fighter Games. He is found to be able to handle the force and is later recruited by the secret order of the emperor and becomes one of the emperor`s hands. After Endor he joins Soontir Fel and with him the Empire of the Hand. This would also cononize the Hands and therefore give us a greater Option for the return of Mara Jade :D . What do you think?

The theory that Marrok is Ezra makes no sense. If Ezra could get back to the main galaxy then Thrawn could and Morgan would have no reason to build the Eye of Sion. Clearly Baylan has never been to the new galaxy from the way he talks about the Path to Peridia like it's a fairy tale. It's far more likely Baylan, maybe even Shin from how they interact in this episode, came across Marrok either when the Empire was around or after Endor and convinced him to join them.

Something just hit me about Baylan. He clearly still feels some form of loyalty to the Jedi after saying it would be a shame to kill Ahsoka and he says if they find Thrawn they’ll find ultimate power. What if he wants to access the door to the World Between Worlds that was on Thrawn’s Star Destroyer so he can go back and try to change what happened to the Jedi and Anakin. He clearly uses the dark side but in such a way as a means to an end not so much like a Sith. So I wonder if his whole mission is to try and prevent the destruction of the Jedi

I believe the reason people aren't flocking to the show is due to a multitude of reasons. 1. It isn't because the quality isn't there. It is. The production quality and writing so far is quite good. The problem is that Ashoka is predicated on 2 cartoon series that if you haven't seen them (& both are relatively large time investments), you have very little understanding of who Ashoka is or why you care. I know plenty of Star Wars fans that actually have seen Rebels or Clone Wars and think shoehorning in Ashoka as Anakins apprentice without any live action canon reference to this fact in RoTS, really makes them turn their noses up to it. (I loved Rebels but I must admit I had to force feed myself the first few episodes and tune out the animation style as it was not my favorite thing and Clone Wars was difficult for me to watch for similar reasons.) 2. Disney has been consistent in gassing up new properties and letting them dwindle or not delivering at all. I think between people that dislike waiting each week to watch episodes of varying length they want to wait to see the consensus and just binge watch the entire series. Why stretch out the potential torture of a new bad show with a ton of new characters and no legacy characters to latch onto for the nostalgias? 3. Disney's streaming numbers in general has been on the decline: Q4 2022 - 164.2 Million Subscribers Q3 2023 146.7 Million Subscribers With nearly 20 million subs dropping off in less than a year, I think combined with the above mentioned reasons only exacerbate why Ashoka is not seeing the big blockbuster type viewership it probably deserves. At this point, I only really have been Following the Mandalorian property (I fell off after TLJ, haven't felt inclined to spend money or go out of my way for anything else since then aside from Mando and now Ashoka) but even in Mando or Ashoka there is a lingering dread of "I already know how this all turns out. The morons that run the New Republic are inept and squander everything the rebellion achieved and let it fall back into the hands of a 2 bit operation masquerading as the New Empire (First Order). It sucks but the Sequels bookending the timeline we are working within and small little nudges within the stories pushing the reality we all know its going to end up at has been a slow suffocation of the entire franchise for me. PS, I think there is a 50/50 chance Marrok is Ezra under the influence of some sort of witches of Dathomir type stuff. I wouldn't hate this twist, but I think it also lets us down in terms of how exciting it would have been to see what Ezra developed on his own, isolated either with Thrawn or influenced by an exotic/ancient civlization.

I'm in the middle of rewatching eps 1 and 2. Witwer's voice can be heard clearly starting at 16:15 for episode 1 when Ahsoka is taking her ship into the bridge of the Mon Calamari cruiser. Still haven't heard him in my rewatches of ep 2.... yet lol. But there are possibilities that the scene where they did use his voice was cut or it was jarbled in as background noise when they were arresting the salvage workers. I may update this part soon with additional rewatches lol. So I don't think we can say definitively Starkiller = Marrok, since it looks like Witwer is legitimately doing standard "additional voicework" at the moment.

@@MNToThat True. Ep 3 is the first time where Marrok actually speaks on screen, even though it's extremely minimal and modulated. He's been completely silent in eps 1&2. Witwer being credited in every episode thus far, but I would also argue so have the other "additional voices" cast. Even though in this ep, the only non-faced character that spoke is Marrok. So having the "additional voices" cast isn't making much sense, unless Filoni is being a master trickster and had all of them read the same lines to layer over each other and distort. lol. Kivu’raw’nuru is actually Thrawn real name up until the Mitth family added Thrawn so then his name change to Mitth’raw’nurudo and according to the internet it is broken down into three sections: first section is their family name, and the second section is their personal name, and the third section is their occupation, clan or ‘second family name’ [like a military family] I do actually like the small nods towards the prequels where Anakin allowed the Dark Side to dominate him and also Yoda’s famous quote: Fear leads to Anger, Anger leads to Hate, Hate leads to suffering. For those who are wanting to Understand Grand Admiral Thrawn I recommend reading Heir to the Empire, Dark Forces rising, The Last Command especially Thrawn Alliances because this shows us what he was doing when the Empire was still inside its earlier stages and to watch Rebels as well but also read the latest Thrawn Books as well.

Sabine's biggest problem now, why she is having such difficulty tapping into the Force, is the fact that she is Mandalorian. They are a naturally stubborn people, and that inherent trait is getting in her way. I think she is going to display a Force ability in her next fight with Shin. In the trailers, it shows Sabine on the ground, holding out a hand as if to ward off a strike, and Shin shouts, "You have no power!" I think Sabine is going to Force-pull her saber hilt back into her palm just in time to save herself from an otherwise killing strike. Ahsoka is not going to be able to save her as she will be otherwise occupied. From that same trailer, during that same fight, we are shown Ahsoka squaring off with Marrok in the background.

If Ezra used the pergil to return to this galaxy, why not use his skills to teleport the bad guys to Thrawn after he was "changed" by the witch? Tbh that theory makes no sense and would translate extremely poorly on screen. It would basically be "somehow Palpatine returned" level of writing. To me he just seems like a remnant inquisitor to tie up the fact that the faction we are seeing is the bad guys, and will likely never remove the mask. Also if he was Ezra, there would have been small hints to it with the good guys wondering who he is/feeling strangely familiar, in order to build up that anticipation. Currently it just sounds like bad fanfic.

Shortest episode so far but still a marginal improvement from the previous two thanks to the faster pacing and less dead silence. Enjoyed the early scene when Ahsoka trained Sabine. Her being the worst Jedi candidate according to Huyang is correcting the Mary Sue label from Rey. Better to watch Sabine struggle early on only for her get better as time goes on. The music from Kevin Kiner of Rebels fame is starting to grow on me since I like old Japanese traditional music. Very relaxing. Sabine training felt like a Karate Kid/Cobra Kai scene. More Miyagi-Do from Daniel LaRusso than Johnny Lawrence's style of training. Ahsoka is paying homage to Kurosawa and the many Japanese influences they had on Star Wars. I'm starting to think current Ahsoka is a cross between Mr. Miyagi and Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back. Mr. Miyagi hardly ever raised his voice. She did start showing more emotion in the space battle. More concern. The most Rosario Dawson moment in it hearing more of Rosario's real voice and tone. Great to see Jacen Syndulla and Mon Mothma in this. Mon was in her mid-40s in Andor (5 BBY) which is also when Rebels S1 starts. She's about 59-60 now in Ahsoka's time (11 ABY). It seems from Hera's words that Thrawn is going to be a huge threat. Bigger threat than what Moff Gideon brought. Coolest scene was Ahsoka in that space jumpsuit. It didn't look ridiculous. They pull it off nicely. It could've looked stupid like Moonraker or Leia's Mary Poppins scene in The Last Jedi. I thought seeing those star whales was a visual treat. Reminds me of The Phantom Menace's underwater scenery but the scene looks prettier. When Ahsoka's ship landed in those red-leaved trees, it looked like the start of Star Trek Into Darkness. So Marrok is pronounced Ma-rock? Like saying Morocco without the co. I thought it was Merrick or Meh-rock like I thought it was pronounced Sa-bine but it's Sa-bean. I streamed Dial of Destiny twice yesterday. I still think it's the worst Indy film but I'll download it once the Blu-ray rip is out because I prefer mp4 over mkv and I'm a completist with all my favorite movie franchises. I watched Last Crusade after DoD. Made me realize life is too short. Sallah is in his mid-40s in Crusade. Then 34 years passed and he's a grandfather. I can tell a Shin vs. Morgan duel is brewing. Shin says sarcastically, "Morgan, congratulations. You almost got them." There's going to be a fight between these two. Overall, I thought Ep 3 is a little better. Not leaps better but it's progressing enough nicely. The special effects in this are spectacular. It looks better than the OT SEs, Prequels, Sequels, and way better than The Flash. Ep 3 was short and that's probably the biggest complaint and not much of Baylan in this but you can't please them all. If it's too long, it's boring. If Ahsoka talks too much, she's annoying. If she doesn't say much, she's boring. Everyone will whine about everything. I'm starting to dig Hera more and more. I liked her in Rebels from the 10 episodes I saw from it. We forget Mary and Rosario already worked together in Death Proof (2007). I've looped the first two episodes of Ahsoka like 2-3x last night after seeing them twice and this series is slowly growing on me. I'll loop Ep 3 a few more times. I'm thinking because I have nothing else to watch that I'm getting more invested into these characters. It's still not as good as The Mandalorian S1/S2 and Andor yet but I can see Ahsoka being at least better than Obi-Wan and is already better than The Book of Boba Fett. At least Ahsoka stays focused on the titular character and the supporting ones in Rebels a majority of the time which Obi-Wan failed to do last year half the time. My Weekly Ashoka Character Favorites 1. Ahsoka Tano 2. Shin Hati 3. Baylan Skoll 4. Hera Syndulla 5. Sabine Wren 6. Morgan Elsbeth 7. Huyang 8. Chopper 9. Marrok 10. Mon Mothma My Favorite Disney+ Star Wars 1. The Mandalorian 2. Andor 3. Ahsoka (moves up one spot) 4. Obi-Wan Kenobi 5. The Book of Boba Fett Mando S2 > Mando S1 > Andor S1 > Mando S3 > Ahsoka > Obi-Wan > TBoBF It's hard for me to compare The Mandalorian vs. Andor. I believe Andor is written better but it's a very slow burn and perhaps the characters are not as charismatic as the ones from Mando. Andor only has 12 episodes while Mando has 24 and had 16 after S2. Andor has the advantage of having less bad episodes. It's not guaranteed Andor S2 (final season) will be good or end up disappointing like Mando S3. I remember enjoying Agent Carter S1 but hating S2.

The only issue I have with the timeline is that it is my understanding that Dave Filoni purposely made the end of the second episode an (almost) scene-by-scene recreation of the ending moments of the final Rebels episode. This was to signify that this moment in Ashoka was the same moment shown at the end of Rebels with Sabine and Ashoka starting the search for Ezra. So her Mando appearance and the capture of Morgan Elsbeth happened before the scene in Rebels as well. I don't know how accurate this is, but it makes more sense to me now.

I wasn't too into Rebels, but I immediately thought, "Man, Rebels fans must be absolutely losing it." All-in-all, Ahsoka relies too much on other media to the point of requiring an entire episode strung together by references. As much as I love the Star Wars p*rn it it all, it just feels shallow. I don't care who Merrock is and I won't be surprised if it's Ezra, but I'm sure they have an alternate take with someone else, because that's just how media is made now, esp when it comes to Star Wars. "Let's go again" is probably more about the same sort of hard training Ahsoka had from Anakin (the bit with troopers shooting at Ahsoka in TCW) than it has to do with the Matrix.

I don’t think Dave knows how to pace a live action tv show. Or his pace is not my pace.

I'm kind of nervous to find out what Huyangs fate will be after Ahsoka. Where will he be? Will he perish with Luke's new order? What do you guys think? He wasn't mentioned in the Book of Boba Fett when they had the Grogu episode with Ahsoka.... I can't wait to find out.

I'm really enjoying the show and I think it will get better numbers as it continues. Disney+ shows have been hit or miss and I think the general audience is just waiting and seeing.

Just one thing since this seems to be a bit misconception. 1. No one needs to have known where thrawn is to make the Star map. The Star map existed because An ancient civilization created it, presumably one that traveled from the galaxy we know and this new galaxy. 2. Morgan says in the previous episodes that she thinks she knows where thrawn is because he “spoke to her through time and space” Hence the Star map doesn’t explicitly lead to thrawn - it leads to the galaxy where they think thrawn is. That’s a huge difference. They need to know the coordinates so they know which hyperspace lane to take to get there. You were right about the purrgl being used to map the hyperspace lanes out but you missed those first two points.

I don't think the fan base viewing is as big due to not watching Rebels and Clone Wars. That way they don't seem lost they may be watching or rewatching them. But most people who have seen them are probably the ones right there waiting for each episode to drop.

I believe there are good arguments for Marrok being Ezra although I don't think so ... but you never know. My theory is that once Thrawn will appear there is a high chance that the reason he was able to communicate is that Ezra was 'captured' in the meantime and Thrawn basically used him and maybe turned him to the dark side to contact Elsbeth. As for the views, I think multiple reasons. The general feeling on the last star wars releases weren't great, Ahsoka is not super known, maybe the pacing of the first 2 episodes impacted and people just waiting for everything to be released and then watch. Still I had my worries and remarks on the first 2 episodes but this one was really good. I thought actually. Finally a person that requires training to master the force, struggling and they show it and the scene of Ashoka cutting the spaceship, that make more sense that a trained wielder of the force can do that.

I saw something on Star Wars theories live the other day, someone commented about when ashoka listens to the echos when she’s trying to find the map, you can hear maul being voiced by Witwer saying “Is he the chosen one” like he says to Kenobi in Rebels….

This has nothing to do with ashoka but the casting for Mon Mothma is really good. It almost resembles the original actress
