Hey Christy! I'm Indian and we usually eat biryani with Raita which is a yogurt based side. That usually helps with the spice and is also very very delicious so I would recommend making that alongside this next time! You'd love it.

I felt emotional and oddly proud seeing you so happy about the illustration project! More than any other KZbinr, I've seen you work so hard to get where you are. So many of us live lives of rushed mornings, long working days, a couple of hours on passion projects carved out of time we should be resting. It's meant so much to watch you move towards a life where you can do what you love: it's given me hope at times when I've been burnt out and feeling hopeless. So happy for you and grateful for your art

I am so happy to see your first 2022 vlog 🥺💕💕 it’s genuinely so therapeutic and healing, it makes me cry for no reason 😭 I am very busy recently with my accounting study and freelance job. I want to start 2022 being super productive and get things done but… I’m starting to feel exhausted and burnout 💕 My favourite part of the day is to take 2 hours a day to film and edit a journaling video 🥺✨ but sometimes, when I end up spending too much time for work, I have no time for my video and… it’s just a lot of emotions lately 😞😞 but this video really is a reminder for me to slow down and take a break 🍃 I already forgot when is the last time I bake myself something nice to eat

I'm so sorry you're stuck in the burn out cycle. I know exactly how that feels 🙁 I hope you're able to take some time for yourself to rest and to do the things that make you happy. If you can make some time to rest, it'll help you be productive when you need to. But I understand entirely--it's really difficult to find the balance when you have work/study commitments. Best of luck with your studies and video making, Jade Lin. Please look after yourself 💛💛

Happy 2022!! Could you share more about your TBR list set up? In your last video, 25 books for 2022, you mentioned your TBR list is a spreadsheet (😍), color-coded and beautiful-Could you share your list set up and/or give any tips on how to best organize and plan out your next books: Do you sort it by genre? or “mildly interested” vs “must read”? Do you include the book descriptions with your list to remind you what each titles about? Also, do you read one book at a time or tend to read several books at once? Etc.. I’m a new reader and currently just keeping a running log on my phones Notes app but it’s proving not to be the best set up and am finding that looking for my next good book is at least a part time job in between reading, lol. I find I’m spending more time looking for the book, looking up its storyline and/or _relooking_ it up (if I forgot it) tires me out, I end up with a million tabs open and... 🙈 Well, I’m just wondering if there is (and I suspect there is!) an easier way I don’t know of. Would love your (and anyone else’s) suggestions! Thanks!

I DNF'ed If cats disappeared from the world! Nice to know someone else felt the same way, it's always so frustrating when it's a translation I feel, because it's so hard to know how much the translation effected the overall feel of the book and story, right? (this is why I feel language would be my perfect superpower). But interesting to hear that the ending was impactful, maybe I'll get back to it and finish it just to arrive at the end....someday.

Welcome to 2022! how nice that your summer has been mild... we've had a whole week of 38° to 43°C and it was HELL. Gosh, i hate summer. Oh, just a little clarification: the surname Márquez (as it happens with most Spanish last names that end in 'ez') are stressed in the penultime syllable, not the last. So it is /'mar-ques/ instead of /mar'ques/ (trying to emulate some kind of phonetics, sorry!). Same for Borges, Perez, González, Martínez, Cortázar and so on. That's what that accent means, where you should stress pronunciation. I know it's a struggle for English speakers, I just wanted to give some guidance! I don't particularly like magic realism so i've never read it but it is a rather revered modern classic, I guess. Hope you enjoy it!! xx
@christy-anne-jones3 жыл бұрын
Okay, so the stress is placed on the first syllable not the second? MARquez, rather than MarQUEZ? Thank you for the clarification 💛

Me: let's watch a calming Christy video before bed 🥰 Christy: "I will proceed to now butcher the name of your cultural food repeatedly" Jokes aside: you should try out a local indian supermarket for your spices! You'll find great spice mixes and packets of spices at seriously cheap prices. And next time you make biryani, try some raita (yoghurt + mint + cucumber + lime juice) on the side. It cuts through the fat and the spice to create beautiful play of temperatures, textures and flavours.

Tyler and I had actually had a conversation about this! Because it's the friction/heat that makes the pen erase, right? So, if you're in a really hot climate or if you were to leave your notebook in a car on a warm day, would it all disappear... 🤔 I'm not sure that's quite hot enough, but it sounds stressful hahahh

The mask mandate doesn't extend to outside, but I live in a busy place with a lot of cases, and it's hard to avoid walking closely to people so sometimes it's easier just to leave it on. Also, it stops me from getting sunburnt so that's an added bonus hahah 😅

When I saw the little black cat figurine to the left of your record player, I cried. 2 days ago, we had to euthanise my beautiful cat, Arian. She was 22 years old, a black cat, amber eyes, ran like a baby bear. I got her when I was 20 (I'm 42 now, 43 in May). I've had other pets in my life, but I've never connected to an animal the way I connected with Ari. I truly think the depth of that love and connection will be a once in a lifetime thing. She had her 22nd birthday last week on 17th Jan (full moon), and she was put to sleep on the 22nd (right at the time of high tide). When they gave her the injection, her head fell into my hand. I feel hollowed out and heart-sore. My precious Arian. After watching her leave the world, I floated in the bay under the rain, the high tide lapping right up against the bushland. I wrapped myself in the towel that had been in the bottom of her carrier. I cried so much I couldn't catch my breath.
