I had the older model, which is about 3k btu. I had to point the hose directly on my dogs to cool them down in the bed of my truck with a cap. I just recently purchased the new model, which is in this video. I’m able to cool the bed, the whole bed. Approved here!

You can do this for the awning. I have the Roofnest Overland gen 1 that doesn’t support an awning and is the exact size and style as your tent. I bought the awning for the gen 2 and with six fire curtain clamps I just clamp it to the tent. It works perfectly sun shade and I had a five minute rain where it held up too.

I'm so happy you got another tent! I don't know why, but I like the tent and truck canopy adventures the most. I'm like you with needing a cover of some sort, even when it's hot. I use a flat sheet, and I really liking the jersey knit ones because they have some weight to them. I'm glad you got yourself a kitchen box, I'm starting to put another one together for myself. Don't forget to make your list so you don't forget anything. 😉 I've found that the plastic school supplies boxes that will be coming out shortly are great for holding silverware and other small, loose items and they pack well. As far as an awning goes, I watch the channel Outdoor Gear Review, which a guy named Luke does agenda free gear reviews and he also does a lot of camping trips using the gear. He likes to use tarps for all of his camping and will attach them to his trucks. He uses a couple of adjustable tent/awning poles, and it works out great. It's a lot less expensive than awnings and you have better control of how you use them. It's a great channel if you want to check it out. 🙂 I wish the A/C unit wasn't so expensive, I've been looking for a similar unit to use in my little vintage Airstream. Prior owner put a small window unit under the couch, but it just doesn't do the job, and it's so mint that I don't want to put a unit on the top. Have you found anything similar that is less expensive?

Awesome setup. I too have gone to the Ridgid toolboxes, makes a world of difference, than soft bags, etc… I do not have a rooftop tent, question for ya since you mentioned figuring out a n awning setup; can you turn the tent so that the ladder is over the tailgate? Meaning once you are done e cooking, etc., you close the tailgate and the ladder down, that way you could mount an awning on the side of your truck passenger side. Great video. Thanks again.
