This place was the best, lived here and in a town nearby in 2010-2013 through high school. Miss it a lot.

This is so American - all in a good, great way. The Scot-Irish culture, music and dance in Appalachia IS alive and never left these WV and VA mountain towns and cities because it fit so well and is naturally compelling. The Celtic and Scot is everywhere here, grows and flourishes BECAUSE it is true to the uniquely hard-learned lessons of life and living of their generations spent here that surely has stood the test of time and now remains a touchstone with America's great ancestors, special because they created and maintained this new American culture, conveying the best ideas, values and lifestyles that they had and we know, (and flourish with) today as all-American. It is a great achievement, social resiliency over times of great competitive challenges and alternatives, that merits acknowledgment as such; distinction as generally a great way to live in America.

Thank you for this fantastic video! We moved to the area recently and hope to visit Floyd again soon, this time on a Friday night. Though we do dread the drive back home in the dark, 😆 (Treacherous mountain roads).

We used to visit Floyd a lot when we lived in Roanoke VA both to work ( carpenter) and fresh veggies in the summer

Simple folk enjoying a simple life...and good on them...salt of the earth. I couldn't see a single afro American amongst them though.

Seen the same thing happen in the Ozarks 30 years ago, Mountain View Arkansaw. 'Pickin' on the Square, BG Bands all over the place, but not much dancing.
