Nicely done. I think some forget this is a STARTER kit. And this veteran modeller sometimes LIKES the simplicity of a single piece track assemblies. Done well, painted adequately, and it looks as good as a kit that uses dozens of pieces for a track assembly.

Yeah I hear you, quite often I paint models like the dinosaurs as a bit of a relax, for what it is the kits great and great for those starting or looking for a relaxed build, with the tracks especially the ww2 german tanks, there can be so many wheels on them that it can put off a new model maker and if you put a wheel on wrong, throw off the whole builds. A decent little kit, but like yourself, it wouldn't take long to build but as you say it's aimed at new builders. Thank you for posting a great video with great content.

Cheers mate, year mean you could build it in under 2 hours ,its a nice relax build tho if more in depth models get to much,just done a 172 scale centurion, all the details photo ectch,and was too much for me after just getting over a cold

Nice job! I found the paint a pain to use. But persevered, and it eventually adhered to the surface. 👍

Thanks mate,Yeah it can be a bugger, I thought it might be oils on the parts,and I've since washed kits,but I think it's just the airfix starter set paints, the humbrol spray paint though I would recommend as you get about 3 or 4 kits out of a 6 quid can so works out similar cost to paint tins

@scalestuff1066 some of the starter set paints seem to be better than others. I thought at first I'd not washed the sprues properly, but the metallic for the tracks was just as bad. I'll bear the spray in mind. 👍

I think, but am not sure, that it might be down to how long its been in storage or in the shop, I know from my model store that sometimes kits sit on shelves for years before they get brought sometimes, also, they can be in box's out back before going on the shelves that adds to the time that paints settled, My local hobby shop FOUND, like the whole 90's range of airfix models just in a box no one had looked in

Seems like a nice kit for beginners, was trying to guess ur blue brush size, a 6 me thinks 😄 Edit: the one used for the base layer.

Yeah perfect for them really but I'm not sure if one piece tracks are easier or not,I think you right it's an italri brush either a size 6 or 9, I've not long binned it

I still remember the first time I built this kit in the 60’s.. Great then But wasn’t the commanders hatch open on the cupola?… or am I confusing that with the Panther model. ( thanks Madds). Alan

I think this is the newer starter set, I think you might be confusing it with the panther sorry mate, I do need to build the old Airfix panther tho , its the one kit in the line up I haven't got round to making yet

@@scalestuff1066 Actually I did some research and the earlier Tiger from Airfix did have open hatches including the commanders on the turret. Pity Airfix didn’t continue this on their new’er! model.. My favourite is still their Panther though. My first tank model .. Have a great day..

Sorry then mate stand corrected, Ive not built an old tiger but know this one never had hatches, its finding some of the older kits now tho they can be tricky things to get! But yeah agree with you on that would have been nice to have the two options as I do enjoy the vintage classics kits ( many more of them to come on the channel btw) Same to you mate take care

I can't believe how crude this kit is. Airfix have an advantage over every other model company doing Tigers : there's an actual Tiger in a museum in their country, they can visit it and even arrange to survey it. But instead there are makers in China producing much, much better Tigers than this.

With airfix and a lot of model companies, they simply buy old toolings because its cheaper,think a lot of the new airfix kits are made by academy.Tamiya surveyed a lot of the kits at Bovington tank museum, one of the halls is called tamiya hall.but as time goes on they are having people go out and scan the vehicles.One of my friends does a bit of that for them,so I imagine it will get better over time
