They look lovely Kerry I read somewhere that they are more of a savoury scone than a biscuit, that's why probley no sugar in them also think they can have cheese in them. but I'm going to give your receipt a try first .

It's funny Sarah, because Patsy who gave me the recipe is from the US, and I had forgotten that biscuits are scones so while filming I was thinking biscuits not scones😄

American biscuits are similar to our scones, but they rarely have sugar in them as they have biscuits with gravy. They are a savoury scone (biscuit) unlike ours. I have had them many times in usa. Look good though kerry

Maybe Kerry u could line the grill pan with parchment paper, and maybe use bread making spatulas or some hard plastic paddles when mixing dough, but making a mess is half the fun😭😬

Thank you Harry, good tip and funny you should mention it, someone else mentioned a danish dough hook handheld, so I looked it up and bought one - it arrived today and I used it making todays bread, brilliant tool. Will use it on the channel soon😀👍

Love your approach for trying new recipes. They did look nice a nice little treat for Easter. Like the way you use your children as taste testers. Have a good Easter don't eat too much chocolate perhaps give your taste testers a chocolate overload. Thanks again Kerry look forward to your next.

They look lovely Kerry. One job I hate is when you have to rub the butter into the flour, I have got a good mixer that does it for you. I have just ordered from Amazon a pastry cutting in tool that does it for you. Also if you get any more cup recipes you can buy the cup measures in supermarkets even Poundland.
@budgetcookinguk Жыл бұрын
Oh that's handy thanks Sandra😀👍💕 I will definitely have a look for that next time I'm in poundland 👍
@fmcb269 Жыл бұрын
@Sandra Dent You could try keeping a block of butter in the freezer, then grating it into your flour. A quick mix, and you've got the "breadcrumb" consistency ready for adding the liquid.

As we have to turn over most things with an Air Fryer, l put greaseproof paper in the bottom,does not seem to effect the finished result Kerry and saves washing up❤

Hi Grace👋😀I did for the tea bread, and prob will do that more. When I first got the ninja, it was going around various ninja groups that pre-heating wasn't necessary. Think that view might be changing 😀👍

not sure if you knew this Kerry when US recipes give a measurement in ounces it's normally fluid ounces and 16 ounces is one US pint equals 473 ml you weren't far out 😇 PS there are a few apps which give you a comparison Fahrenheit Celsius and gas marks in a chart form and because they're juat a display some can be used off line 🤟

That’s just what I was thinking Kerry as I watched your video, Americans call scones biscuits. We make a Sour Cream Scone here in Australia and have them with jam and cream, they’re very light 😘
@patsyhelms1102 Жыл бұрын
Kerry Forgot to say you might try parchment paper so the bottoms won’t have the grid marks. The Ninja might cook hotter than mine and you may not need to turn over. Just a few more tips in case you decide to try them again. If you want a more savory biscuit just omit the sugar.
@budgetcookinguk Жыл бұрын
Thank you Patsy💕I didnt mind the indentations but paper is useful to stop them sticking👍👍 have you added cheese to yours- cheese scone/biscuit (no sugar) are delish
@patsyhelms1102 Жыл бұрын
@@budgetcookinguk did you try them with cheese.? Sounds good. Will be making them for Easter.
@patsyhelms1102 Жыл бұрын
Hi Kerry You did a great job with the biscuits. The dough is sticky but yours was a bit more sticky than mine but it may be due to the sour cream and flour measurements. Sorry I wasn’t more helpful as far as measurements. It did not call for sugar and that may have contributed to the stickiness. I will be making them again soon and will try the addition of sugar. Hope you and family liked them. Thank you for the video enjoyed it as usual.
@budgetcookinguk Жыл бұрын
Ahh Patsy it's so funny because when you said biscuit (US), you meant a scone (uk) to me a biscuit is what a cookie is to you🥴😄so when I was making it I thought it would be like a cookie/biscuit, the way we eat scones is with butter, jam and whipped cream (scones usually have raisins in them too) that's why i thought the sugar was missed out by accident 😂 my lightbulb moment happened yesterday once it was uploaded and even my youngest said ooo mum these are like scones. Thanks again Patsy, we had great fun with your recipe esp eating them, boys loved them😀💕💕💕

Big mistake to use commercially produced sour cream! It doesn't contain enough lactic acid to make scones rise, you needed to add about ½ the usual amount of baking powder and I notice that there is no salt in the recipe. Shop bought sour cream is full of thickeners & stabilisers too. A big difference between a real scone and the American style biscuit - which isn't actually a biscuit at all. The term biscuit means twice baked.

sorry about that I had to edit that comment twice, on the fly cos I realised I'd left whole words out, my thumbs must have been tired (groan) so I hope you got the finished version anyway after the fledgling country freed themselves from the tyranny of British rule those proud Americans really threw their toys out of the pram and ran around changing all sorts of regulations Ha Ha. that's US History according to Bill well and truly mangled, that's why many years ago when I bought my 1st surplus US military canteen (for camping) marked 1 quart I couldn't figure out why 2 pints if water wouldn't fit 😇
@budgetcookinguk Жыл бұрын
Oh your comment was the best Bill (is that your name? Sorry I never knew before) because I realised that Patsy must be across the pond and they call scones biscuits! So there I am thinking I'm making biscuits but really its scones! Even Jim my youngest said they're like scones mum🤦♀️😄🤣
