Built My Own with a Harbor Freight Arbor press a small engine lathe and $40 worth of stainless and brass, all total cost me about $250.... these fancy CNC-built presses should only cost about $350 all total this pricing is ridiculous

You are so right my friend. The Slugpress lead cutter = 359 euros. Every single Presslug die caliber = 399 euros. All common calibers in dies (.22/.25/.30/.357 and .50) it will add up to 1995 euro. The Presslug Press itself = 1.887 euros. For the Presslug in the most common calibers you will have to dig up over 4240 euros. Then you need to buy the lead and/or an oven and molds to recycle your old slugs and pellets which will set you back another 300 euros. This makes it a total of 4540 euros not mentioning the sizers. The average slug price is about 20 euro (over here) per 100 in .357 This means that you can buy 22.700 slugs for the complete Presslug setup alone. When you just invested 4500 euros in total, you have not yet pressed a single slug. When you shoot 100 slugs a week, you can shoot over 4.1/4 years before you have earned your purchase price back. When you only use your slugs for actual hunting, and pellets and cheap slugs for fun shooting, you are looking at a lifetime of ammo. I love the press idea and I understand that quality equals money. I also understand the fun of making slugs . . . but these prices are an insult and take away most of that fun factor. Yes you can buy 1 die, but most of the people that take slug making serious are hunters who use .30/.357/.45/.50 and even .72 caliber . . . I believe you can make this equipment for 1/4 of the money and the same or even better quality/tolerances.

@anthonydefillippis88066 ай бұрын
Just a little constructive criticism. The center hole for the core cutter should be offset not directly above the adjuster. What winds up happening when you cut the cores sometimes the core does not fall. Therefore, you will cut another one squishing the one below it. Which therefore will not fit in the dye properly, Also, just a tip, you should use a small pair of vice grips on the adjuster to keep it from backing out. This is only for the core cutter. If I could leave a photo on here, I would to demonstrate. Again that center hole is for 22 caliber cores, which is the most common airgun projectile to shoot.

That is as easy as swapping out the die for another available one. Not sure those are options at this time.
@Brianbri-nq3cc6 ай бұрын
$900 dollars per die and that's IF the third party seller is willing to put you on the 6 to 8 month waiting list in order to purchase one. This press is ok, BUT the dies are virtually impossible to find because they're proprietary from some third party seller overseas😞

So you're going to need multiple dies with multiple different waist size for your slugs to try

I am curious as to why they didn't make it to work with a standard single-stage press for a regular reloading press it could be a nice product in time but way too expensive for what it is right now. Nice Video
@tommyrussell14156 ай бұрын
Great video. In. Way the adjustment looks is like a swing lock die, but that is a push thru caliber specific item. Unlike Lee sizing die it's adjustable. It's also the complete inverse.the top makes the heel n the "top punch" makes the nose Like the waste lead removal journel

How much time aprox does the making of 1000 slugs take from cutting to swaging with your grip?
@christosmavrommatis9126 ай бұрын
I had my eye on this for a long time but not any more. Reason? It is purposely too expensive and not easy to find your chosen subcalliber (was looking for 5.52). I resulted to casting at 35.7 and 37.8 gr on average, 8 slugs per time and then weight shorting. At approx 150€ /mold it was more cost beneficiary to cast slugs than to purchase (I use them to fully auto and semi auto LCS sk 19 and huben GK1). For my target shooters I use purchased ammo.

This looks awesome. For me i would want to pour my own lead blanks because i have a ton of lead bars. They make a cal spec mold but can't find one in USA. The only store that say they can get it has a 78% bad reviews, so that's out. The mold is a deal breaker for me at this point.

i am a machinist and presslug as a company is over charging all of their customers with the 300% profit margin this is the reason americans buy chinese because they cant afford american this entire set up should be about 350 to 400 bucks and have atleast 2 caliber die sets for that price im sorry i have to make my own because as a machinist i cant afford the rediculous prices i mean you can buy dies for rifle or pistol brand new for less than 50 bucks and the pistol dies are carbide yes i know the dies are for working brass cases but the machining process for brass sizing and lead swaging are the same so we all know it can easily be done so quit screwing the american customers PLEASE its why americans do not buy american because american companies charge indivudual people like they are buying a press for commercial use
