I think everyone judges others by their appearance to some extent, it's unavoidable and something we're programmed to do. I think the main implication with that saying is that you shouldn't act bad/shitty towards someone based on their appearance and your biases toward them, and that you should try to mitigate your biases a bit. For example, if you treat someone badly because you think they look like a "pedophile" that'd be kind of fucked up as you're harshly manifesting your prejudice toward that person for simply existing with the appearance they were born with and have no control over.

Holy shit this comment section really shined a light on just how shallow and egotistical most people are. That’s sad af. Beauty has always been a very subjective thing to me so I’ve always been able to look at conventionally unattractive people as pretty cool unique aspects of the universe rather than judging them based on a perceived ego’s superficial ideas.
@iaminconstantpain95242 жыл бұрын
Gonna have to agree with this, tbh. I've never looked at someone and formed my entire opinion of them based on what they look like. Listening to this and reading the comments honestly makes me upset because it's hard to believe that people like this actually exist. I feel like these are the same people who preach about mental health and about loving yourself but then go out and treat people like trash just because they don't look the way they want them to look. I grew up being bullied for my looks and it fucked me up, until today I can't even take a picture of myself. So, hearing everyone in this comment section try to justify this type of behavior is pathetic. But there's always a pattern with people who act this way. They'll treat you like shit both for being unattractive and for being attractive. One comes from a feeling of superiority and the other comes from feeling envious and insecure. So, best we can do is to pity them.
@SolusAgomor2 жыл бұрын
Social networks nowadays empower people to be their ugliest, because they end up having many followers. While this girl thinks she's being brutal honest and very different by admitting she judges people by their appearance, which is basically what most people do. Inside the most people, most of them say to not judge a book by a cover, because they don't want to go through that, yet they do it to others. While this girl has almost 450k followers and 42k likes, I would like to know how many dislikes she has. I could bet the photo she used, is of an actual pedophile, sex offender or sentenced criminal. Because I'm almost certain that she didn't randomly pick someone's photo and risk that person finding out and start a defamation lawsuit. Besides, the photo is cropped. Which makes her a coward. While she does this, she's proudly saying that she does it but it's not ready to get what's coming to her, because she knows it's wrong. What a huge conflict she has inside. Not to mention, a total clickbait title, to talk about 40 seconds of that and then talk about other stuff, that is meaningful to her and her audience. Probably that's why she needs to start the video with something like this and then proceeds to seek validation from others.

'Don't judge a book by its cover' Simply means: Be an open minded person. someone that knows that sometimes a book's cover doesn't do justice to the story that it has inside. Also: For having preconceived opinions based ONLY on the cover of the book, ( which is really like 1% information about the whole book ) you are the one that is missing an opportunity to potentially read a fantastic story.

Okay, I hear you. BUT, and hear me out. This is the worst idiom ever. The whole POINT of a books cover is so that you can judge it at a glance and decide if you wanna read it or not. Like the message of the idiom makes sense and is nice but literally only doesn’t apply to books.

I see the people in the comments are taking the metaphor from only one angle. A book can have a very appealing cover and still have a bad story. This is why the metaphor exists. Sure we all judge people based on how they look , even subconciously and thats fine.Its our nature. But what I understand from the metaphor is not everyone is what they seem but everyone deserves a chance. It doesn't have to be two chances. Just a chance

ok. if you are like that so listen to this. what I see when I see You? - too young lonely snobic girl, with no friends, who is trying to seek attention on social platforms to justify your own "truthful" opinions about humans which is just abusive. (just a tip you can hold your opinion, nobody cares at all, but somebosy cares a lot, its killing them actually). and also youre aware of your looks. and you know that youre attractive. thats why most of the people here will not turn against you. and you dont know what to do with your life still. just making promises and exuses. also all information in the video about nothing. you can share such things with your friends which you dont have, because you soo so so so so honest to the piont that you are rude. it tells more about your own insecurities and weakneses. was that nice? do you liked it? when somebody is judging You by the cover?
@xerox10842 жыл бұрын
It's not right to judge people, is that a hot take now? Even comparing human beings to books, is weird. Because book covers are inherently trying to tell you about the book, and are trying to tell you 'hey you should judge me based on the fact that I look like a romance! please don't pick this up anything else!' But human beings are just trying to survive, at least the sane ones. And I will say, I don't think I have truly judged someone for how they look since I was in primary school. Maybe I'm just autistic but I couldn't give two fucks if you spent hours doing your hair or if you just rolled out of bed. Because I don't know your situation, why should I act as I do? What gives me the entitlement to do that?

My child obsession with a tragedy was WW2, or more specifically it’s polish side - which is something almost all poles were forced down our throats from the beginnings of our education. From reading books about the survivors to watching movies in class about Jewish murders. Our system is very patriotic and makes sure we know how our ancestors felt during the war. It’s great until I develop a crippling phobia of war and look down on all of our extremely patriotic habits. I hate it so much.
