The whole thing Shaaba was describing about changing attraction based on how people act seems very similar to what I experience as a pansexual person, which is super interesting. It also goes both ways for me, where someone might become more attractive as I get to know them. Brains are crazy
@animeartist88811 ай бұрын
Same! It doesn't matter how physically attractive they are initially- that first impression can change drastically if they turn out to be a bigot or something. Ditto for if I'm not attracted initially and then find out they're super sweet and considerate. The second one is my current husband's journey ahahaha
@TheDarwinProject111 ай бұрын
As someone who is demi/pan, I've always thought that was a demi thing. I don't just see people as more attractive (even platonically, like friends) when I like the person/personality more, but also can find people as less attractive if I like them/their personality less.

I have been questioning whether I'm demi myself partially because of this. I mainly only have sexual fantasies with guys I'm infatuated with (celebrity or not), and if I realize my crush is a bad person or we have vastly different values, I'm no longer attracted to him. I started thinking that might mean something about my sexuality when someone I know started a sexual relationship with a physically attractive colleague she hated as a person, which just boggled my mind.

@Ray-hk1zm Thank you for using "close personal attachment" not "until you love them"! So often I see it phrased like that and it makes me cringe. Not just for the aromantic folk who are also demisexual, but because it's possible for it to be ANY deep emotional connection, for example an aesthetically pleasing person you felt no sexual attraction towards until you despised them utterly, then bam! Hate-f*ck territory. It's the opposite of the "I liked them until they were a jerk" response they were talking about.

I swear the outer appearance of a person changes depending on whether i like them as a person or not, and it isn't a "what a waste of a pretty face" or "your beauty is non important to me now" type of thing, it's fully "you are not pretty anymore". Also the reverse, if i start liking someone as a person it doesn't matter if i found them average or whatever before, they then start looking cute- not "i like you so now i appreciate your looks" but actually a "damn, youre cute". about finding people less attractive when they turn out to be terrible people, I absolutely know what you mean, I even have moments where I don't care about someone's looks until they turn out to be a cool person and they start looking more attractive to me. I think this is because we start associating prominent features with their character. Like, when I see someone who looks similar to a close friend of mine, I immediately feel comfortable around them and find them attractive, while when I see someone who looks like someone I don't like, their looks constantly remind me of that, and so I can't find them attractive. That, of course, can change once I get to know them, but at first, my brain will have that association.

Everything about her, hair, face, shape, voice became gross/annoying to me. On the flip side I've had people become more physically attractive to me based on their character etc to the point that I became attracted to them. As an asexual aromantic demigirl who experiences aesthetic attraction I really related to this video because I got so confused as a teenager trying to understand my orientation since I never experienced sexual or romantic attraction towards anyone but I had a lot of aesthetic attractions towards both male and female celebrities as well as people in general of any gender. Initially I mostly only noticed my aesthetic attractions towards males as an AFAB person due to social norms and not yet fully understanding the 🏳🌈 community but when I discovered my female aesthetic attractions that totally confused me, especially in light of my being a demigirl with chest dysphoria, lol. I was all over the map trying to understand myself for almost 20 years before finally discovering the existence of asexuality, aromanticism, and demigenders to explain myself and it was a huge relief when I also discovered the existence of aesthetic attraction on top of that because it explained my confusion so well. Haha, great video!

The old southern US saying is "pretty is as pretty does," meaning that how one treats others influences how one is perceived.

13:29 Shaaba, as a pansexual, I understand what you're saying 100%. And I experience this too

@Shaaba Totally with you on the "being mean makes you less attractive" kind of feeling because the opposite happens too. There was this guy a friend of mine had a slight crush on, but nothing more, and my friend decided to date him to see where it could lead. Fastforward a few years, he hasn't changed much, but they built a beautiful home and family, are madly in love, and me, knowing how a good person he is, find him SO MUCH MORE attractive than a few years back when he was just an average man coming into our lives. YES to the impact of personality on how you look !

The first thing I saw Andrew Garfield in was a _Doctor Who_ two-parter, in which he played a young guy from Tennessee living in 1930s New York. I feel like every part of that sentence is slightly weird.

Yall need to watch Lip Service. It's kinda like the L World but set in Glasgow. Its such a great show. Ruta Gedmintas (Frankie in the show) is so freaking hot.

I'm here for all of these Victorious vibes 😂 I too think of that song whenever I hear "Chicago" lol. Also on Bend it Like Beckham, I watched it once as a teen and then rewatched it recently and I genuinely forgot that Jules and Jess don't get together in the end. I was convinced they were gonna be lesbians. The vibes were so strong I deadass misremembered the movie

I realized I liked women, that I liked both and all between, when I saw Grace Jones in Conan the Destroyer. I was absolutely gobsmacked, sitting in my seat, stunned at her glorious beauty and I would follow her anywhere, even now 30 plus years later. I can think of no better person to have turn my head than Grace Jones.

Skeet is well-known for looking similar to a young Johnny Depp to the point that Jamie Kennedy jokes about it in the bloopers for Scream.

Also, should we have a movie night for Shaaba to learn every word of Chicago? And maybe hate watch Rent?😅

I loooved the live action Peter Pan when i was a kid, the soundtrack is really great too! But dont think he was a childhood crush 😅 Awakenings possibly were Hayden Christensen as Anakin in the prequels, Morgana in Merlin, a whole bunch of animated awesome female charactersn(Korra, Catra), David Tennant as Crowley, life is strange was not so much an awakening as a confirmation lol

there's a reason the bisexual meme is miguel, tulio, and chel being the awakening trifecta lol. Much like The Mummy's cast, also.

@@hexonyou see, I WAS Evelyn so I didn't get it with The Mummy movies. It was just all Rick, only Rick for me.

Love Morticia and Gomez! ❤ Skeet definitely looks like a young Johnny Depp. I believe it was an homage to his roll in Nightmare on Elm Street.

I did not realize why I liked the movie Stick It so much when I was younger until I watched Castle when I was in college and realized my crush on both Castle and Beckett was because I was bi and that made me realize when I was younger I had a crush on Missy Peregrym and still do now lol
