While missing context, Akane would be the kind of person to easily realize a very likely motive for the way Himekawa’s parents’ lives ended. Which happens to be the truth Aqua is overlooking.

You don't even need any math to see the loophole. Aqua didn't tell Akane about any of the time frames involved, but if you're thinking about what might have happened for Himekawa's parents to die by murder-suicide, the husband finding out his wife had cheated on him and the child he thought was his for 5 years was actually someone else's would be right up there as a likely trigger.

@originaldarkwater what I mean is dad was known for running around cheating, but for whatever reason unknown to anyone, mom had a secret lover or two. Because it was unknown, it didn't cross anyone's mind that it was possible. I mean, who wants to think of their mom that way. Also, it's not uncommon in real life for women to find hubbie cheated to lose their nuts, stab hubbies in rage, and then realize life in prison or death row.

@@ashrimpcalledhank Well, it crossed Akane's mind in less than 10 seconds... 😏 Of course, she didn't have her subconscious desperately looking for a reason to let go of a lifetime of living only for revenge. I'm not entirely sure it hasn't crossed Himekawa's mind, either. He must have spent his life wondering what drove his parents to do what they did, and he seemed very interested in Kindaichi's story about the early days of Lala Lai. What if he recently discovered his mom had attended one of their workshops back then, just like Ai did? Of course, he wouldn't tell Aqua about this until he was more sure.

One interesting aspect of Kana's date with Aqua is the fact that it seems almost TOO smooth and TOO perfect. I noted last time that Aqua had lost not only his dark star, but any star in his eye at all. I'm interpreting that as a loss of drive and motivation. Without the guiding purpose of his revenge, he's a become rudderless. He knows all the right moves to make, but he's lost his spark and it's almost mechanical. I think Kana notices when she seems a little disappointed that he doesn't have some sarcastic comment about her being late, but she's so overwhelmed at having the date of her dreams that she doesn't really think about it further. But I think if he were to remain this way, she'd find herself getting bored with him. I don't know that they'll go that much further into this aspect, since it seems the revenge plot is about to shift into high gear again, but it's an interesting thing to consider.

Akane must be really be getting torn apart now, she wants him to be happy but she also wants to be sincere with him, so would she tell him or not? i doubt Akane would hurt him for her own sake tho. Also there is Kana, funny how she was freaking out about the chance that Aqua might take her to a hotel and have lots of seggs, but then she got relieved but also disappointed that Aqua didn't XD People often forgets that Loli can be a fashion as well :) Ruby was very lucky that her conversation with Ai's grave was cut short, i mean, considering the father was not above doing what he did with her mother, i can only think what he might have done with Ruby if she got suspicious of him there.

Even before he says so, it's telegraphed by the fact that he's carrying almost the exact same bouquet to Ai's grave that her killer was carrying, and the white rose petals fall exactly the same way they did when Ai was stabbed. It's visually screaming that, not only is this the father, but he is absolutely as guilty as sin of the crime. How twisted do you have to be to show up at the grave of a girl you had killed and talk to her like it's a normal Tuesday? I'm not sure what's up with this guy, but I'm sure it'll be a wild ride.

The flipping of order, makes more sense in the part that he never felt akane love for him, because he probably can feel kana love, since he knew her hatred but now she likes him.

This dad thing was one of the least surprising twists of all time. The very first time we heard that the father was dead I told my wife that Aqua's half-brother's mother cheated with the real father. Nothing else makes sense plot wise. The only surprise to me is that the father visited Ai's grave, whom he had murdered.

Aqua is smart, he probably already figured that scenario however, back in his mind, he wanted out, wanted to be free and purposely turning blind on it. You can call it making excuses or running away. If someone pointed out it to him, then he will have no choice but to face it.

7:40 I think you're on the money about Akane thinking she's in love with Aqua, but she's just confusing it with her feelings of gratitude for him saving her. I think it shows when she's leading him to the bridge where she tried to commit suicide as if that's meant to be a significant romantic place for them and she offers him what she believes he thinks is lacking in their relationship, physical intimacy and even sex. She never even considers the possibility that she's not in love with him until he straight up tells her he's never felt feelings of real love coming from her. This is not surprising, since the poor girl has no prior experience with relationships, so she doesn't know what real love would even feel like. She's just been having these intense emotions for him, so what else is she going to think? But she's always possessed a high degree of decorum, so she doesn't break down or make a scene when she was confronted with losing him, but she's definitely trying to keep him until he makes her question whether what she feels for him is really love. BTW, pretty shitty move on Aqua's part to invite her along to Miyazaki and planning to break up with her there, where she's going to be trapped and unable to go home to process this all, but be forced to put up a good front to everyone there. Almost uncharacteristically inconsiderate of him.

Compared to how considerate he was of kana it does stick out I see it as he cant lie to her so theres a level of blunt honesty he has with her and it shows up as him not being respectful at all with her like when he insulted her use of filters Its almost like he views her like a bro and Kana as a girl, hes pretty much the same with Akane that he is with Ruby, no need to treat family good outside of needing to

Dont think he thought that far ahead. Dont think it was an intentional dick move. If one at all. Hes breaking up with her just as much for her own sake as for his own. As he says in the episode they have no love between them and she has a bright future ahead of herself. Them staying in a relationship for work or for optics could possibly hinder her from getting into an actual relationship.

Maybe Himekawa already had suspicions and that's why he was so eager to get Kindaichi to tell him whatever sordid story of Lala Lai's early days he was alluding to. If Himekawa is so much like Aqua, of course he would be playing it close to the vest and not tell Aqua about his suspicions right away.

I don't know if the author was thinking so far, but blonde hair is a recessive genetic trait. With Ai not being blonde but her bearing not identical twins who are both blonde it would be really unlikely that the father is not blonde.

I had small feeling aquas hair not matching the guy in the picture last week was possibly a clue that wasn't his dad but i also was thinking he could've just dyed his hair. Oshi no ko is great in how is opens up possible routes that makes is hard to predict what will happen, where as other shows you can almost tell where the series is going and where it will end. Seeing as how the dad reveal exuded scummy evil vibes, i get the feeling he not only will do bad things still but will do something in the future bringing aqua back into revenge. As for the girl showed last week at the end in the forest, she only has 1 episode left and feels like shes going to be in the next arc similar how the tokyo blade arc was getting set up at the end of season 1. My predictions on the girl is she's either has magic powers that causes the initial reincarnation and or knows who aqua really is, she's an Ai superfan that knows the truth of her kids or she's just a really bad person under the disguise of memcho's "friend".

I think you are downplaying Aqua's feelings for Akane a little too much, everytime that Aqua thinks about "being happy" Kana AND Akane always pop in his mind, at the start we are sure that he was using her, but this entire season has been about them having a much closer bond than he has with Kana (by the fact that he is willing to to open up about all of his past with Akane) and also we can really say that Aqua is thinking that he is "not good enough for her" when he remembered the hug that she gave him at Gotanda's house, hell even his "dark side" said "did you think that you finally found someone that understood you in Akane Kurokawa". He does feel something for her, the same for Kana, but that is the point of him "choosing"

They both have feelings for each other, but people always see things through binary lenses. It's always an explosive and romantic passion or nothing at all... The thing is that since their relationship is built over lies, it's not healthy, but Aqua is not going to talks things through. Aqua just kinda downplays Akane's feelings and strength of mind, tho... Kana deserves happiness, but I don't know if Aqua is the right person to her...

Akane is too faithful to Aqua, she's always there to protect him, she obviously saw through Aqua's flawed conclusions. And yes they flipped the order of events. But in the manga and anime, I just can't throw away the feelings of Aqua being just an idiot. I'm a manga reader, so I'm not going to say anything, but changing the orders of events... Well fits the direction of how things we be, I guess?

Akane knew from the get go that their relationship wasent real. Maybe she had some hope that it would blossom into a real one but Aqua dident hide from the start at all that he was essentially using her. I feel not letting her on with a fake relationship is the better thing to do though. For both of them. Like Aqua said, she has a good future ahead of her and tying her down would be unfair. I feel like they can still be friends just fine though. Theyre also in the same line of business and men and women can be friends without anything sexual going on. Seems alot of people forget that nowadays.

12:15 I don't think Kana being ready to go gives Kana any edge over Akane in terms of that making them a couple, since Akane was just a ready to go as Kana, except she was a lot more matter-of-fact about it. "I'm willing to have sex, if that's what you need to make this relationship real" is pretty much the gist of what she told him on the bridge. I think the fact that Aqua made the effort to take Kana on "the perfect date" is more of an indicator that Aqua is leaning heavily toward Kana, and really always has. Not being a manga reader, I don't know that that will never change, but that's certainly how it's been so far.

I haven't really been disappointed by this show, yet and I suspect the worst thing about the ending of this arc will be having to wait for season 3 to see what happens next!

As nice as it is to know that akane knows aqua doesnt like her and he wanted to use her its argubly scarcer that she saw all this red flags and even tho she didnt have feelings either she was still like this guy saved my life im ok with being used kissing having sex because he did that one really good thing so he must be a good guy also nice to know that those sceans were switched in the manga because even tho the relationship is fake he was just called out playing both kana and akane and even tho it wasnt technically a date with kana it was a date so in effect the way the anime made it seem is aqua was "cheating" to figure out witch one he liked its not out of character for him and because they didnt properly break up it still was so its still shity.

akane's thinking is that the man who was married to himekawa's mom did not impregnate ai. aqua, ruby, and himekawa all share the same father (according to DNA results) but have different mothers. and considering we see the biological father at the end of the episode visiting ai's grave, the only conclusion is that himekawa's mother was the one who had an affair, not the husband (like aqua is choosing to believe). aqua is simply overlooking the possibility of himekawa's mother having the affair instead of the husband, just so he could have a reason to back out of the revenge plan and finally be a normal teenager.

This interpretation of Akane i way off the mark. Nobody watching that scene should be interpreting a possibility Akane wants to pull Aqua back to revenge. She realized Aqua never wanted revenge in the first place. She's showing legitimate concern for what might happen if Aqua realizes the loophole and is basically stuck between a rock and a hard place where both telling him and not telling him are bad options.
