Excellent video with little tips that help get the job done with no drama. Thanks for the tip about the different thread sizes on the sending unit. With my luck I would have ordered the wrong size online and would be stuck for days waiting on a replacement.

Works exactly the same way with 2009-2012. Escapes. Great video. Only thing I’ll add. Is on the second gens at least mine. (2009) the alternator was in the way to be able to put a socket wrench onto the socket. But you can easily do it with a 13/16 wrench. 🤙🏻

2:45 what is that other sensor next to the oil switch with the red connector on it??
@AKJeeper2 жыл бұрын
That’s the engine block heater. It is used in colder climates to aid with starting in the wintertime.

I tried doing this on an 08 escape without removing the AC compressor as some others have had luck with. I ended up breaking the switch so I’ll have to do it again with the compressor removed. Do you know if the process is the same on a 2008? I only avoided removing the ac compressor because I thought I’d have to remove the line. Great video btw.
@AKJeeper2 жыл бұрын
I’ve always moved the AC compressor out of the way on the V6 models. It doesn’t take much time at all (no need to disconnect any AC lines) and saves the frustration. And yes, pretty sure the process on the 2008 is the same.

How did you know the oil switch was bad was your oil light coming off and on at stops

Have you found the torque specs?
@boomerguy9935 Жыл бұрын
It's a moot point because a torque wrench wouldn't fit in there. I've seen on other videos to just measure the threads of the old one and screw the new one in to the same point; just be sure it is snug and have the push tab easily accessible. Do NOT overtighten!
@anthonycockerham7180 Жыл бұрын
@@boomerguy9935 that's exactly what I did. Tightened it until it was snug.give it a half a turn and the car is fixed. Thanks for the video. If it wasn't for you idk what I would have done. I'll be subscribing. Thanks again

According to alldatadiy, the torque for the oil pressure sender is 10 ft-lb.

I can feel the switch with my fingers. Ima try to replace without removing the compressor. If I fell or break switch at that point, I'll remove compressor. I don't want to charge ac if I can help it.....
@AKJeeper3 ай бұрын
@@stanleymorton2992 you don’t have to discharge the AC. Just unbolt the AC compressor from the engine block, move it aside, and gain access to the oil pressure switch. I did not discharge the AC on the car in the video.

Did you take out all your oil?
@AKJeeper8 ай бұрын
No. It’s not necessary to drain the engine oil to replace the oil pressure switch.

Need to do on 2014.
@87flyerfanАй бұрын
No real need to move the compressor. Take off the oil Filter, and use a 13/16th spark plug socket with a wrench to turn the sensor out. Literally takes 10 minutes.

Thanks for the suggestion - there's more than one way to do this job! Moving the compressor made getting clear footage of the task much easier, which is why I elected to move the compressor.
