Regardless of her body language, her use of the quote was accurate. Freidman wrote that "no religious fundamentalist of any stripe would be caught dead flying nude". Therefore, who, according to him, are the terrorists? Religious fundamentalists of any stripe. Which is exactly what Coulter said in her book. Her body language was probably her realising that the audience would easily be misled by Franken.

@@damianfragapane3595he used weasel language. He implied that terrorism was evenly spread amongst those with extreme ideologies, whatever that’s supposed to mean. It’s not. The overwhelming share is coming from one group. And she’s clearly right about where to look. This makes the Kerry comparison valid as well. At a certain point it becomes a description of the suspect, to paraphrase Coulter. Btw, whatever happed to Franken? Lol

The best part of this video, for me, is after Franken reads the quote from the New York Times piece. That moment when they cut to her face, it's amazing. It's literally one of the best things I've ever seen. Why? Because I know that look. It's the same look that I have whenever I've been caught lying to my mother.

After watching this clip I decided that I wanted to know more about Ann. So, I watched several of her interviews, debates and read many of her articles. What I found is that Ann absolutely has a goal. Which, is to sell books. She has mastered the art of shock and awe! She keeps all on their heels, she wants all the control and mainly to have the opportunity to make her shocking comments which help her stay in the media because, remember "there no bad press". That is her formula to success; shock + more time in the public eye = more books sold. furthermore, I did noticed a couple things about Ann's persona and that is she A). avoids answering questions to escape from embarrassment (since she has no clue what they are asking her), B). She is actually a weak person " Complains more than others, Do not take opinion of others, tend to be overly dramatic" and C). Ann Lie's.... "Still part of the equation" So in closing. I was very confused at first as I watched the video, to much commotion and then after researching and understanding Ann. I can say with certainty; she was afraid of AL! That's why she was so uncontrollable and uncomfortable like a bitch i.e. "female dog" cornered with no way out. I say please do not buy her books, remember that's what she wants and do not waste your precious time in Ann, turn the page and let's all move on!!!

Franken didn't destroy her credibility; he didn't understand what the author of the article said. The author of the article said that "no religious fundamentalist of any stripe would be caught dead flying nude". So who is he referring to as the terrorists? Religious fundamentalists. That's obvious. And that's exactly what Coulter says. Franken seems to focus on the sarcastic tone of the article while missing the fact that the author clearly points to religious fundamentalists as the terrorists. Either that or he's deliberately being deceptive and underhanded.

Are you saying that today's Democratic Socialists are what Republicans once stood for? What we have in the GOP, at present, is the party of Neo-Statists, not of Conservatives. To be sure, both the establishment Republican Party and the Democratic Socialists fear any challenge to the status quo that now rules over Washington, that being career influence peddlers and Crony Capitalists. And as far as last resorts, i.e, "having nothing else", there is nothing of last resort with solid Conservative principals and values. I bet, to the last, you would agree with much of what Conservatives stand for, and less with the liberty robbing two party monopoly. What the Republican party needs is bold bright color differences, but that is another conversation for another time.

Ziggy DaHood Nationalsocialists, or NAZIS, are the FAR_RIGHT of the spectrum! everything they stood for, were NATIONALISTIC causes, their "socialism" has not_the_least_bit in common with real SOCIALISM! Nationalsocialists (ONE word, for it was a newly created word, BECAUSE they had nothing to do with Socialists!) have been (still are) FASCISTS (left?! nope! those are the right), militaristic and all about obedience. their socialism meant "jobs for Germans only", "healthcare for Germans only", basically everything "for all Germans only" and it was pure xenophobia, fear of foreigners and Jews, that the Nazis had sold to the German public! anyways, trust me when I tell you: the fascistic Nazi-Party had been of the far-right and it had more in common with today's so-called-conservatives in the US, than any real conservative would like! then again, today's GOP has nothing to do with REAL conservatives... oh, and btw, I'm not a "liberal" in any way, shape or form!

Uh, Ann's still correct. The part about flying naked being tongue-in-cheek has no bearing on the fact that the author referred to them as "religious fundamentalists of any stripe" instead of, "Muslim extremists." Why not say, "no Muslim extremists would fly naked?" It would still be tongue-in-cheek. The subtext of him changing it to "religious extremists of any stripe" is exactly what Ann said - that it's not a Muslim thing, but an every religion thing.

As a person who changed jobs, had a 30 day lapse in insurance, and through "luck" broke my ankle on that last day - I got to experience months of unpaid rehab, unemployment, medical bankruptcy, and nearly dying, to come back to a pre-existing condition and a job I could barely do. So basically if I understand this right, Friedman was advocating for more government administered security at airports by saying the only way we couldn't have security is if everyone flew naked. Well if you've been following along since then that has resulted in molestation of every kind of passenger, most notably children and 100 year old grandmas. But Friedman didnt really argue for more govt. security he conjured up a ridiculous scenario for having security without government involvement.

It's things like this, not, as FOX news commentators imply, "mainstream media coverage," that lost your side the election.

And if "The quality of health care is vital for anyone with any sense" how can you justify policy that doesn't give citizens health care, and that would allow denying people care for pre-existing conditions, like cancer or arthritis? Or canceling policies on people who have paid in if they need health care? Or letting a corrupt FDA and drug companies set the rules for what is covered? How in the world is that "quality" in any sense of the word? How is that not "harm"? How is it not "failed"?

Here's the logic. 1) Ann Coulter's book says that religious fanatics are dangerous. This is in a sincere and serious tone. To reinforce her point, she quotes the article and uses the quote "Fundamentalists of every stripe". So, she uses the quote to reinforce the dangers that fundamentalists pose. 2) YOU AGREE that the article was poking fun. It wasn't serious. By your own very logic, you agree that the original article was using it in a different sense than Coulter's book.

Thats nonsense. They were discussing a particular issue, which Franken then gave the point to Coulter by not refuting what she said, and brings out her book and challenges her to something totally unrelated which wasn't even close to a smoking gun. What a joke this is. Nice discussion Franken. That's not how you discuss/argue with someone.

The bottom line for having a political party is to present an unified statement on the issues. The statements of Coulter, Beck, et. al. are confused in the minds of many as being GOP positions. In fact, these statements are not vetted or coordinated by the GOP. This makes it difficult for the GOP to develop strategy. Bottom line, these loose cannons are harming GOP. Michael Steele -during his tenure as RNC Chair - attempted to distance the Party from Rush (and -by ext - all loose cannons).

Ann is correct. He should have qualified his statement as, "the imagined" or "as we believe"... A master in comedy and statesmanship should absolutely see this and concede this point. Give the writers words a moments thought and anyone would understand what she is saying. ??? Incorrect usage of the english language and someone pointing out the mistakes does not make the messenger the devil.. ??? In fact, we expect it, don't we? WTH? I am absolutely sure that Ann Coulter does not need my validation but I am more concerned about the pushback that she receives from our so called thinking men and women. ??? I really enjoy watching Ann call it as she sees it.

@ToddAldrich The entire south was against the act only 8 southerners voted for it from both parties. Most of the North, regardless of party advocated desegregation. It was purely a North/South partisan issue at the time. And as I said, the right in American history has consistently been the more prejudice side. Those segregationists are not in our party anymore, those who would align with their thinking would be in the Republican Party today.

I do not condone terrorist attacks but the fact of the matter is that the reason these terrorist acts are done against America specifically, is due to a grossly failed foreign policy where by Americans make friends with a bad guy against another bad guy...then hang the allied bad guy out to dry. the answer to fixing terrorism isn't to give the world more reason to hate and resent America, it is to deal with terrorists harshly, but be welcoming and accepting of the moderates.

When has racial profiling ever helped solve security issues. Racial profiling in the 60s led to the exponential growth of the Black Panthers, and eventualy led to the LA race riots. However as racial profiling began to decrease, so did extreme parties like the Black Panthers.

@doonymacc (resumed) In 2000, Total government receipts were $2,025.2 billion and Bush's tax cuts were not significantly implemented until the end of 2003 and early 2004. In between, revenues fell - all the way to $1,782.3 billion in 2003 (the number of jobs fell also - just like my example said). Curiously - once the tax cuts were in place, things began to turn around - revenues began to climb - along with the number of jobs (again, just like my example said). (continued)

3) (cont.) instead of having developed preconceived notions and biases and then insulting people and doing google searches cherry-picked later to try and back them up with random non-sequitur / irrelevant / out-dated pieces, a good and open learner would read up on all of the different policies, understand them, and then come to a conclusion. It would also enable you to actually have an intellectual discussion rather than resorting to name-calling at the outset.
