This has absolutely nothing to do with pro life. This is a group of men who are having a hard time coming to terms with women becoming a formidable force in society. They are worried that they will have to compete for their own jobs as women become more efficient and proficient. They want to see road blocks to prevent women from impeding their own success. And the women that back these movements are either ignorant of how it will affect them or insistant at spreading their own misery as subservient to men. This kind of movement will no doubtedly include contraceptives. As written the horrendous law from Alabama already does. In order to ban all abortions from conception, in order to comply, you would have to include banning contraceptives. BECAUSE THAT IS HOW THEY WORK! They keep the fertilized egg from developing in the womb. All of them. The fertilized egg is conception. Biology 101. Apparently they don't teach much in the southern states.

Certain types of birth control aren't 100% Condoms will let you down about 70% of the time over a 4 year period. The pill will let you down about 30% of the time over a 4 year period. IUDs, implants, and tubal ligation if you're done or not planning on having kids? Far better. We should try to encourage them. The most important thing the US could do for its citizens in the long-run would be to finally start providing decent education from young age all the way through high school. A major problem with these state laws is that a person needs to know all the "weird and different" laws in a state before moving there, so if you believe that people should be treated one way, you live in one state, and so on. It is like living in a continent with 50 countries in it rather than states with non-international borders. As for me, I would never live in the South. They are too backward and crazy there.

It's a feature, not a bug. The "states" were set up to basically be separate countries with the "federal" government only having authority over inter-state or international issues. This has changed over time but the underlying concept is still there. That's why the states are called states and not provinces or something. Outside of the USA (and similar countries like the UNITED STATES of Mexico) "state" is a synonym for "country."

Yeah, Elizabeth Warren is definitely my first choice. But I'd pick any of the Democrats running for president over _any Republican in the country,_ let alone Trump. And with so many people running in the primary, it's unlikely that our first choice is going to make it. After all, the whole _point_ of the primary is that every other candidate but one loses. So it's not smart to become _too_ attached to any of them. No matter who you support, the odds are against you.

@@alive_twicedead_once34 Except that's not how it works. There is this thing called science which states that it takes between 3 and 6 days for the sperm to reach and fertilize the egg. Then it takes about 40 weeks for that egg to grow into a baby. The embryo must be inside the mother at least for 23 weeks if it is to survive outside the womb. Prior to that, it is just a parasite growing in her and feeding off her. It's like saying an cake is made the moment you pour eggs, flour, sugar, butter and milk into a bowl. No, you first have to mix those ingredients. Then comes the baking. The same goes with a baby. It needs to cook to become a human baby. And if you don't believe in abortion, that's great. Neither do I. So you know what I do? I don't get anyone pregnant accidentally and I don't encourage anyone to get an abortion. But please, don't talk to me about how the Republicans are standing up for human rights while they support the NRA. They watch as actual living children are gunned down in schools every day and they do nothing because they need that NRA money. Your party is souless. You have no high ground from which to preach about humanity as your party's solution is simply adding more guns to the schools.
