Chris, in my humble opinion it was the right decision to order this guitar without the “barn door” pickup for at least four reasons. First, the pickup would not flow well with the looks of this guitar. Highly figured Cocobolo and Koa bevels do not mix well with gadgets. The second reason is that the pickup would have even increased the guitar weight which is already augmented by the two bevel blocks :-). The third reason is that this guitar is likely to be played mainly indoors and not taken on the road much since it is a “collection” guitar. Fourth and final reason is the cost! The pickup, regardless of the type, would have put this guitar on par with, or even on top of some US competitors within the price range, which would reduce its appeal :-). Furch somewhat draws influence from Lowden (at east that is how I see and hear it). So, to me it is a working man Lowden. The best in the Furch line for a working musician is the old Stonebridge G-23 with a cutaway (was $1,400 about 15 years ago), which is identical now to the Yellow/Master guitar. Furch guitars are seriously good professional guitars, it is amazing that they are still not very well known in the US.

Yay! Glad to see another Furch review. Seems like most of your acoustic reviews lately have been Taylor. I have a Furch Vintage 3 Dreadnaught that has incredible tone, playability, and fit and finish that is second to none. If anyone is wondering if they should consider a Furch, I wholeheartedly recommend them. I’d buy this one too but I have too many guitars already. I especially love that this one doesn’t have the pickup system (and associated plastic knobs and such). I think it would mar an otherwise beautiful work of art. Thank you Chris for sharing this.

i have the vintage 2 i guess tonally your might be little bit more complex but i love mine, its the cannon i needed, masive sound, loud as a gypsy guitar, joy to play. only downside is i that i would hardly find anything that would beat him unless i want to spent 5k + on something like santa cruz or huss and dalton.
@rogerd91504 жыл бұрын
@@tcoudi Hello. Glad you like yours too. They’re wonderful. I’m not sure but perhaps the only difference between the 2 and the 3 is that the 3 is underscored by body, headstock, and fingerboard binding made from koa with a contrasting line, and a top adorned by herringbone purfling. Basically only cosmetic upgrades. I couldn’t find one in the states like it so has mine shipped from a guitar shop in Australia.
@tcoudi4 жыл бұрын
@@rogerd9150 i believe there is also difference in the wood grade, yours is master, mine 3A. anyway, this instrument will be hard to beat for any reasonable money, i bet it will stay with me
@rogerd91504 жыл бұрын
@@tcoudiOk. That sounds reasonable and probably accounts for the price difference. But all guitars are different and as good as mine sounds, yours might even sound better. I have acquired a small number of guitars through life and have become attached to them all, each for a different reason. So I’ll be keeping mine also. It was good to chat with you. Hi, I love this video and I love this channel. I tested the exactly same model yesterday. I live in Poland, Czechs are our neighbours in the south, so we have very good offers for Furchs. This brand is quite popular in Poland, however, I personally never had any Furch. Recently I bought Taylor 326 ce (which I've seen tested on this channel btw) and I wanted to compare it to Furch Red Deluxe Alpine spruce top, coccobola and eventually buy Furch too.. I have to admit that I have never seen more beautiful guitar, its build is impeccable and awesome, all the details, bewels, etc, striking beauty. I played it for about 1 hour and I have a bit mixed feelings. The sound is very good quality but I prefer Taylor 326 ce sound. I know that both guitars are made of completly different wood but it is that Taylor has more ballanced and round sound. It is a bit quieter than Furch but somehow more refined, even it is a 1k USD cheaper guitar in Poland. The other issue, personally for me, is that the neck is a bit too chunky, while Taylor 326 ce playability is perfect. On the other hand Furch is so beautifull guitar, I probably will go to test it again.

I have the Furch Red GC SR. Some days I really love the thing and it resonates beautifully. Other days it just feels flat. It also has much larger fret spacing than my Martin DRS1 or taylor GS mini koa. As a result of this (or maybe it’s something else?) it’s much easier to hit the note in the wrong spot and create buzz. Also - the highs are really too high with lows not being low enough. It doesn’t feel like I get as much dynamic sound as my other two guitars. I’ve compensated for this by changing the 12-53 elixer strings to a 12-54 Earnie ball. I will say that the highs are truly beautiful, but the issues I’ve had with it are really jarring. I even reached out to furch and got basically no assistance. Brand new it had constant issues and couldn’t even maintain a 2.5 action without buzz. I brought it to a luthier and he was able to fix a lot of the issues by filing the frets, but this isn’t something I should need to do on a brand new guitar. Anyway - great video as always. I’m curious about the talking points in every single furch video I see. They all seem to be taken from their marketing material and hit on by every KZbinr in every video. Is this just because you like the CNR neck system that much that you need to always bring it up? Or is this a sponsorship request from Furch?

What you're describing sounds a lot to me like humidity issues. It's something you don't need to worry about much with cheaper factory built guitars, but as a classical guitar player who plays luthier instruments it's part of my daily life. What you have with Furch is a luthier workshop guitar, not some cheap run off the mill factory mass produced guitar and so for this reason every instrument is a bit special. There's a trade off between great sound and robustness. Not to say they're fragile, but every luthier or luthier workshopped guitar is going to require special care. Some guitars like this like to be a bit drier others not. But make sure you contact Furch and ask them for their recommended humidity based on their workshop levels. You can regulate humidity by adding a humidifier to the room or keeping your guitar in a case and adding humidifier options to the case (cheaper, easier and more reliable).

Fantastic review, as usual. That's an amazing guitar. Do you take trade-ins? I'll give you a Taylor 712e 12 fret, an Orangewood Hudson, and a Fender Strat (MIM) for one.

Great Bass string tone and sound but I am a died in the wool Taylor fan. My Builder’s Edition 816ce sounds fantastic. Furch looks and sounds impressive. Doesn’t the second bevel make it more comfortable on your on your leg instead of your ribs?

So, hanging your forearm over the body of the guitar, that edge sorta holds your arm in place. Does the bevel affect that and does your arm tend to slip?

@glorioskiola3 жыл бұрын
Taylor 800 series (and all their series) have different sized guitars. You have to specify which particular one you’re interested in. Example 812 would be a grand auditorium, while an 814 would be a concert sized guitar and 810 would be a dreadnought.

There are a whole bunch of Taylor 800 series. The Taylor jumbo 818 is big guitar while the 812 is a bit smaller. You can simply read the specs on Furch and Taylor websites as elementary children unusually do.
@ragetobe Жыл бұрын
@@hughnguyen1772 Well done on the necro of this thread :) If you knew anything about guitars, the specs on the website don't give any idea of how a guitar actually compares to another, since this was 2 years ago I own both brands and they are miles apart even though the specs say they are similar. And as children would do in elementary school, do you research, I did, and there was no comparison at the time so I asked, I purchased 2 guitars worth a total of £12k, yes I had some valid questions as anybody would. I thank you for your time and hope you are having a nice day where ever you are.

I'm disappointed with Furch, they become greedy. I wanted to buy Furch vintage 2 and it was $3000AU compare wit Martin D18 $3800AU and D28 $4100AU but now they increased to $3800 for vintage 2 and over $4000 for vintage 3. Furch is nice guitar but it is not Martin and need long way to go. Just greedy as they get good reviews.
