Nice video man, I've used this technique multiple times and been the star of the show. Cheers!

Perfect video. You explained everything a person needs to know about breaking down the crab leg. I wasn’t sure if the knuckle was edible. Given what I just paid for six legs, thank goodness I found this video!

Thank you, your demonstration worked like a charm.

Those spines that stick up out of the king crab leg can really hurt. Once one of the spines poked through my fingernail. OUCH!!!!

That's stupid the point of crab is to work your way into it. I don't want my shit pre cut and easy to get to.
@chloestylinson7 жыл бұрын
Sergio Willrich agreed. Went to a fancy restaurant and it was cut down the middle, wasn't nearly as good as when you get it out yourself :/

Or you could of just used scissors to cut the shell & then you can just get the whole thing w/o having to cut it in pieces.
@Rehdman64446 жыл бұрын
It's Sofia Monique: I agree with you. I use a good pair of surgical scissors to cut the leg segments lengthwise. A decent pair is not too expensive, are super sharp, and don't create many small splinters. These scissors are also the perfect tool for dissecting a lobster.

Is there any tiny shell pieces when cutting it that way? My Crab favorites are: 1. King 2. Tanner 3. Snow I would love to make Maryland Crab cakes out of snow crab one day.

Shoot for those who are not all that confident with a big knife like that are subject to cutting a few fingers off with that as well.

I really wish I would have watched this BEFORE I totally screwed up a $50 king crab cluster, rather than directly after. Don't get me wrong, I got some delicious meat out of it, but it all ended up flaked. I would have much rather enjoyed it in chunks like this.
@acer81235 жыл бұрын
Sure its easy, but it beats the fun out of pulling the meat out of the shell whole
@raybeez557 жыл бұрын
big crabs like that its easy to get the meat out
@kieshamccellan15727 жыл бұрын
REAL Crab eaters don't need to do all of that. Unnecessary
@CJ-qj8gq5 жыл бұрын
Your right. He disjointed it correctly, but after that just one break in the middle of each piece is all you need and you can pull the whole meat out in one piece. My older brother taugt me when I was 14. Lo.

@3131butler7 жыл бұрын
Just place the entire 3 legs and body section in some seasoned water, when ready, simply snap at the body (so you get all that good flavor of the legs) then snap at the main section of the leg, from there, at the middle section just wiggle it a little and you will find the main body of the meat comes out with out issue! Crab broker???? hardly!

You worked far too hard to cut the shell rather than break the shell and eat long portions of meat. However, some customers would enjoy eating without fussing with the shells.
