"murder, I guess? ...get into it!" 😭😭 This is such an amazing album, and to think she self-produced the majority of it?? Also I love how the writing is specific enough for it to fit within a narrative, but allows room for interpretation and to feel relatable outside of the story ❤️

I didn't even realize she produced most of it herself :O That's so impressive. And I agree, I love when songwriting is malleable

love this chill react. I felt just about the same. the album broke me when I first listened a year or so ago, great stuff. I love to see people enjoying her art. vocals and instrument work by her is always incredible. Despite coming into this 'not knowing' entirely what it was about, you were pretty spot on. you have such a deep adoration and appreciate for music, and I'll sub to that.

Omg I LOVE the 'ring, the great dark, and proximity to god' concept! It perfectly encapsulates the rapturous feeling that comes with certain moments in life, or especially songs and music. And as someone who feels things very deeply all the time, I have been constantly feeling god ever since I was little. (Also, I enjoyed watching ur reaction this album!)

I love Ethel Cain! My life is in a rough spot and discovering not only her but her personality and how she views life have actually really saved me! She is such a pure heart and an incredible singer! Idk if anyone has told you the backstory to the album but in a quick explanation a trans woman from the south leaves home looking for love and a place to belong but dates a man who ends up prostituting her and drugging her. He ends up killing her and eating her body. She confronts him from the afterlife and says a final goodbye to her mother. Before she meets him she has two other lovers, the first one abandoned her without reason (house in Nebraska) and it was her only true love and even in death all she wants is his love again. Her second lover is killed by cops and she finds herself finding lots of trouble over and over. One song is about how her father abused her as a kid (unfortunately sexually). Ethel Cain is a character created by the singer. The album was supposed to be a movie.

i love long reactions to my favorite albums; it feels like sharing the things i like with friends, you know? and preacher’s daughter is definitely one of my favorite albums ever. you were spot on with the unreliable narrator comment! she is!! which is why the darker undertones of the story and the events are more in the background. ethel chooses to ignore the bad things that happen to her, as a coping mechanism. anyway, great video!! this felt so cozy. . if you intent on exploring more of ethel cain’s discography, i’d recommend the album “Inbred”! it’s short, sounds super cool and also has interesting lyrics with darkness akin to preacher’s daughter. . can’t wait to see what you do with your channel:)

That's exactly why I wanted to make a channel and why I watch so many reaction channels myself! I'm glad I wasn't too far off considering how easy it is to miss things on the first listen. The background dark stuff makes so much sense :O Thank you so much for your support :) I'll definitely consider listening to inbred since preacher's daughter really got me hooked!
