4:40:44- Poor Derek Jeter. That was not only a very painful injury, that kind of marked a symbolic turning point and death blow for the Yankees in this series. Without their captain and leader, the Yankees never seemed to recover, and it was a complete march to the World Series for the Tigers. For the record, I know what breaking an ankle feels like. It is NOT fun, and the worst part is not when it happens, it's the recovery time, because even if you do come back, you're NEVER going to be the same player you once were. Trust me, I would know!

Man, when Ibañez hit the homer, I officially though this was our year. I was screaming and couldn't even type my text message cause I was shaking so much. Then Jeter shatters his ankle and it's been all down hill since then.

After blowing 5 saves in the regular season, and his 2nd during the postseason (Game 4 ALDS/Game 1 ALCS). Valverde never pitches again for the Detroit Tigers. If it wasn't for Phil Coke stepping up in game 2, game 3, and game 4, Tigers may not have won this series.

The problem with the Tiger's over the last few years is obviously their bullpen, in attempt to fix it the front office has looked at some of the best relievers in baseball and they go out and sign them. The issue with that is when a reliever is very good and in his prime there is only one direction they typically go...and that is downhill. Valverde is an example (very good with Arizona, Nameth is another example). Signing older relivers is not the answer, you have to go get young guys with promise
@BMLOOH1938 жыл бұрын
Valverde went 49 for 49 in saves the year before with tigers and did good his year to but postseason started his downfall

Yankees offense is overrated even when fully healthy and performing to their capabilities. Yankees hitters don't know how to shorten up and accept singles in situations that only require a single. Yankees hitters are dumb in thinking that every pitch right down the middle that they get should be hit out for a homerun. Well it doesn't work that way. The Tigers know how to take a single with a RISP and the Yankees don't that's the difference between 1 team advancing and the other team not.
