I used to like Virgin Cola before it was withdrawn a few years ago as it was quite fruity to taste. There are a lot of coke imitations out there and they are usually a lot cheaper but nothing beats the real thing - as you've just demonstrated. Pepsi does taste better but it's so inconsistent. Some cans taste nice and then some taste vile, especially the imported ones. Coca Colas just tastes the same which is why I've now started buying it instead of Pepsi...

The Aldi one (and many other soft drinks nowadays), contains: Sucralose and Acesulfame K - artificial sweeteners which leave a slightly bitter aftertaste. I’d rather drink sugar - with no aftertaste! The test should be so easy to tell the difference. Many drinks makers now add artificial sweeteners to their non-diet drinks, making them even sweeter/too sweet. I don’t know why Coca Cola don’t make a ‘less-sugar Coke’, as I now usually add a little sparkling water to mine - and it still tastes like (a sweet enough) Coke. To me, Zero/Diet Coke don’t taste like Coca Cola at all.

They made green coke (Stevia) which was half sweetener half sugar, but it flopped, most people just want zero calorie drinks these days 🤷‍♂️

They call it a natural sweetener, but I think that the way it’s produced makes it more like an artificial one. It is due to the sugar tax, the manufacturers have to pay extra money if things are full sugar. If you can cope with sweetners then own brand drinks are fine. Coca cola has a niche as they are the only full sugar cola left standing. Since the sugar tax i either drink fizzy water, or tap water with homemade squash and a couple of times a year full fat Coke. No more supermarket fizzy drinks for me!

The sugar tax is the reason the Aldi one is cheaper without as much sugar. Coca cola refused to change the recipe so now it's more expensive. Can't beat the proper stuff but the cheaper ones are ok for the price. Walking round the kitchen blind when you could have just taken the blindfold off as you had your back to the glasses and the label was on the bottom anyway was hilarious.

You could have got two extra identical glasses and filled them with plain water from the tap. Shuffling _four_ glasses would make it much more random. However, you did a pretty good job with the hilarious mask. I now buy Zero Coke. I used to drink Classic Coke, but the Zero version is better for Type II diabetics. Genuine Coca-Cola is very expensive, though.

I could see from the amount of bubbles which was which. I can't drink anything with artificial sweeteners, so no contest. I often refer to Coca-Cola as 'BFM ~ brown fizzy medicine' as it can cure digestive issues if drunk flat. The artificial stuff causes bloat, and some are known to be carcinogenics. I would be interested to know if any other makes are sugar only. For others in the same boat with regards lemonade, Schweppes changed to sugar and sweeteners so I found alternatives... Waitrose 70p litre, then Sainsbury's (70p) and M&S, also the same price (I think), don't have chemical sweeteners. Aldi lemonade (35p for 2L) tastes good for the price, but is let down by the sweeteners. This vid. and some of the comments have been good value! Gaz, do you (or anyone else watching/reading) know why on SAS WDW when they take a contestant off to see the staff, they put goggles on over the hood?

It is a technique used in Resistance to Interrogation training, whereby the candidate is hooded and subjected to white noise or unnerving sounds through the headphones, if he or she attempts to remove the goggles and hood they are failed straight away and taken off the course. lt is serious stuff and nothing like the TV show, which is just that, a TV show. PS. They are also put in stress positions (eg leaning against a wall on your fingertips), the whole thing , the goggles, the sensory deprivation is designed to wear you down and soften you up for the questioning phase. I better not give furthur details, it's below the watershed time!

To me… unless your really hard up… I would never swap out coke or Pepsi with supermarket brands… absolutely not. I believe that in order for the cheap brand to avoid the sugar tax they have to substitute sugar for sweetener. If the sugar content is above a certain percentage, the customer pays more tax on it. Thats probably why the price difference is so big. Plus of course you pay more for the brand name.

I agree, I don't mind cheap cola. In fact, it has a certain charm for me because it takes me back to when I was a kid and didn't have much money. I would always buy those little bottles of cheap cola for around 10p. I don't know if they even sell them anymore. They were all made specifically for children and I think one version had plastic bottles shaped like bears or people or something. The real deal is always better but it's not the end of the world if you only have the cheap stuff. One I definitely wouldn't recommend buying is own brand Irn Bru. Irn Bru has always been the most popular fizzy drink here in Scotland and my personal favourite. I remember a few years ago, one of my friends bought some own brand Irn Bru from either Aldi or Lidl to see if it was any good. It was called Iron Brew and it was absolutely horrible. A few of us were meeting up at his place that day and he poured us all a glass. Everyone hated it (including him) so we all unanimously decided not to drink it and buy some proper stuff instead. If you're ever buying Irn Bru, always get Barr's. I honestly can't stress that enough. My friend will never live that one down because none of us will ever forget how bad it tasted.

Wow ------------------------!!!! "Just Like That " ..! A great take-off of Tommy Cooper ..............!! (just as funny) I used to work behind the bar at a working men's club in the concert room on a Sunday night and remember the "Mixer Gun" you had several syrup canisters linked to the water tap and a co2 gas bottle .......!! (cheap and cheerful ..!) and still flat ............. The Coca Cola syrup is only manufactured in the United states and shipped to bottling plants around the world ..... so it always tatses the same wherever you are .................!! Sort drink trivia ............... Fizzy drinks can used to have the equivalent of 22 teaspoons of sugar per can , might still have ..........!! Cola trivia .......................!! If you have a rusty bolt that is difficult to undo and you have no wd-40, just pour some coca-cola over it and watch the rust fizz......! and help slacken the nut .... Just think what it does to our insides ......................! WD-40 is also useful for removing bugs of a car windscreen and headlights or you can use Coka Cola instead .... My edit I laughed so much at your cupboard troubles, well done. I was always the Coca-Cola fan but something changed in it and now I'm a pepsimax drinker, I really like the pepsimax raspberry in cans, in fact that's all I drink, the bottle tastes slightly different, it might be tainted by the plastic bottle in the taste. I don't know if you've done this comparison but asdas strawberry flavoured milk v frijj strawberry milk is my suggestion

Second time of watching this. I have a comparison test for you. Aldi Full Sugar Lemonade Verses Schweppes Full Sugar Lemonade. Also Price Comparison and what marks out of 10 and which you would buy again. I mainly drank Schweppes but recently tried Aldi Brand. I wont tell you at this time which one i prefer and why i will tell you after if you do this review.
