Yeah for sure .it makes for a more genuine and entertaining video plus makes it more educational and relatable as long as that doesnt become the video...the point is to reach a conclusion even if it carries over to another video.

I think it's important as makers we don't airbrush all the mistakes out, you see really slick videos where nothing goes wrong and it gives a false impression that it all runs smoothly, then someone new tries out a project, it hits problems and they assume it's them so give up. I very rarely edit things out of my content, mostly it's a straight take. If I swear I delete the video and start over because the groups I admin and moderate keep the language clean but that's a personal preference, IRL I swear like a trooper :) Keep doing this style of video mate :) Great idea with the jars too.

When I was a nipper, 50 odd years ago, my dad had a big jam jar storage system in his shed for screws etc. He’d used the alternate idea you mentioned, screwing the lids to the underside of a long self, with jars secured by screwing the jars onto the lids. I loved helping him with diy, and begged him to let me bring down a jar of screws. Eventually he agreed, even though I was on tiptoes…. As the jar came free it slipped out of my hands - amazing how far hundreds of screws and bits of broken glass can go 😂😂😂. Now if he’d used a design like yours…. 👍👍👍

Love the storage. I use a decorator's window scraper for the labels in a wash-up tub with some hot soapy water. Takes seconds. Basically, up and down motion then use one of those stainless steel washing scourers to finish off. Easy

Cheers Rob, great idea, and you got there in the end, it's so easy to mess up the measurements when you're working on the fly, but good to show mistakes too, keeps it real ! There are so many systems available to buy these days but tbh jars work as well as anything, just don't drop them. Somebody there has a sweet tooth with all that honey, perhaps you should make one in a hexagon shape like a honey comb ! 😉

Good job with the jar storage solution. And, of course, don't be chucking out those very useful centres you've cut out! Yes, the 'workshed' is an excellent hobby/therapist, or whatever we want to call it. Wouldn't mind getting a hold of some of that adhesive they use on your honey jars. If it takes a wire brush on a grinder to remove the labels, it must be strong! I use the hole cutters a lot. In my experience, it is much better to give the cutter a rest - especially if you are cutting 20 plus apertures. It also makes sense to give the teeth of the cutter a clean with a small wire/brass brush to clean of the resin. If you are going to make more, why not use a legnth of floorboard - easier to cut, even two at a time. As for the mistakes, well, we are all human, and we all make mistakes. Not everyone is honest enough to admit to them.

Hi Rob, what a great idea for jars and making use of space above your door frame which is wasted space and turned it in to useful space. Like the idea of using the wire wheel to remove the labels, better than my idea on Shed space saying smash the glass and peel it off🤣🤣Those Aldi clamps are great value for £7. My father did glass jar storage in the 60's, we had it around for decades. I would suggest this to no one, you will be cleaning broken glass off floors, cleaning broken glass out of nuts and bolts or anything you store in them. Just get a 3d printer, you can and make storage any which way, and get a labeler and you will be able to find everything.

Rather than take the lables off, just put a new label over the top. Rather than making all what you did just screw the lid to something then turn the jar into the lid it will stay there. if you worried about not having a lid on the jar, just use some extra lids. Those clamps are ok for the money, long way off of the better quality ones, but depends what you want them for.

Best not to measure from a measure. Glue small neodymium magnets for the lids to attract to if you are worried about them falling out, can get 50 for less than a fiver. Most lids have steel in. If you want to remove glue, score with a knife and douse in isopropyl alcohol is the best.
