4:22 "There is John Street completely unintimidated" cue video of John Street looking stressed and wishing he'd refereed the other match.

i think it's fantastic, so many uploads of past snooker matches of the legends, especially Alex, so at least people like myself can analyze how good he was vs just a flash in the pan. What alex higgins represents, is proof that inconsistency can be offset with other facets, no different than a golfer who is bad off the tee, but can scramble like no other. A consistency game of potting in the open table, davis is going to beat alex hands down on average, but a crafty game with 1 red and 3 colors on the rail and Alex now is the hunter instead of the hunted. In other words, any given player can choose a style, based on ability to win a world championship and does not have to succomb to fallacies and rules of thumb disguised as articles of faith. You still need somebody to prove the theory true and Alex proves that.

Alex was washed up by then . His last stand was the 1989 irish masters when he beat Hendry in the final

Very not classy thing to say pal. Karma always hides round the corner waiting for the finger pointer who always inevitably always turns out to have a few embarrass skeletons in their own closet. Rambert that pal

Bad comments in my opinion. We're all flawed in our own way, and he was a genius on the table, who cares what he did off it..

As Clive said, there was history between Higgins and John Street, the referee. Higgins thought he was bigger than the sport, he was a genius on the table but off it, he was a nasty piece of work. You could even sense his disrespect here for Street when he told him to clean the ball and grabbed the extension from him, no manners.

Alex is without a doubt one of the best potters ever to play....but compared to todays players, his positional play is dog shite. Always had to pull-out world class shots because he wasn't on a ball
@baz810
@baz810 3 жыл бұрын
I honestly got the impression at times that he couldn't care less for position as he preferred to play more difficult shots and get more of a response from his audience...except that it compromised him winning so much more than he did! I loved watching Alex play, but as a person, he was a vulgar, nasty piece of work

@@stevemiller8414 yep, good eye, I wonder though if still from the same cue maker not that it really matters as far as wood is concerned but I'm sure somebody would be able to know just by that one few seconds of video clip there where you can clearly see the shaft is from a different cue.
