The key to sewing with pets is to create a decoy project. Pull out some fabric that you are not actually using, and pretend to be very involved in “working” on it. Once they take the bait and lay on the fabric, you are safe to pull out the real fabric that you want to work with. If they get suspicious, simply pretend to go back to using the first fabric until they go back to it.

Alexandra! I love how genuine you are in you videos! Your are completely honest and show your mistakes in the making of your sewing journey. You also after making your mistake you say that you are unsure of what to do which to me seems so honest but you come forth with proudness of your hard work and effort. You honestly did an amazing job and a better job than most of us can. It's so inspiring to show your bravery and makes me want to start mine even though I have a fear of making mistakes. But I know it's part of learning. You are incredible and I love those cats interfering with your work in some way and makes your videos that much entertaining!

Looks great! You made the bodice work in the end. If that is artificial whalebone, you can just sand the ends round with a nail file or sandpaper. Also the bones will form to your body after time from your body heat.

Hey Alexandra, I love your videos and this dress turned out beautifully! I'm sure you've come across this solution by now, but if not, the center panel in a bodice like this is usually boned or fitted with a busk to keep the long waistline fitted to the body, and you may have better success with spiral steel boning over synthetic whalebone. It conforms much better to the body and still moves with you comfortably enough. Keep up the fantastic sewing!

I don’t like rigilene boning either! I prefer the covered plastic boning, I found a really large spool on Amazon where it has the stronger clear plastic boning in a roll, with no covering, which works better for me. I make ren faire fashion stays (and my own actual stays) and the clear 1/4” boning works amazing for me!! Much stronger.
@_alexandra.louise_2 жыл бұрын
This was actually steel boning I used which is supposed to be quite strong! Rigilene boning is the worst though 😩
@mysteriouswonderland58862 жыл бұрын
@@_alexandra.louise_ you use flat boning to secure lacing holes, eventually to flatten the front. for the rest it's best to use spiral steel boning but it's used to get a waist reduction in corsets. for a dress, plastic boning work better.

If you add interfacing to each piece of the bodice, that fabric will be easy to work with and not pucker.

My toxic trait is watching a sewing video one time. Going right to the story and get everything, and believing I can make it in the ten minutes like she did on video. As well as knowing I could learn it quickly but not wanting to put any effort into learning how, I just expect this content creater to pour the knowledge need right into my brain from hers.

what a pretty dress! 2 thoughts on the bodice, but they are just guesses. 1. i think the bodice is too long for your torso. 2, when sewing the slinky fabric, did you sew down one direction and then sew up the opposite? i've seen in other videos that you are supposed to sew all seams in the same direction or the fabric can warp, which is what it looks like yours' did. i've just found your channel, so i don't know if you have figured this pattern out better or not, but its enjoyable watching your creativty emerge into a physical item.
