I was talking about that the other day... like... I was old enough to remember when this album came out, but I was still too young to have been ready for it, etc... but how amazing would that be? Like, that's even different than hearing it for the first time yourself... My friends of course told me I HAD to listen to it, and they weren't wrong. It's a masterpiece... but buying that album the day it dropped... going home, cranking up the hifi or popping the cassette in your tape deck on the way home form Tower records.... and hearing it for the first time... and knowing that no one else heard it... that's somehow even better. They may have had some albums that weren't great... but nothing really "Bad" and this is I fell their best work. Justice, is a "Better" album.... but, it's not the same. Jason trying to fill those shoes was impossible, and the guys never let him forget it... and unfortunately that hurt the band as a whole. Anyway, thank you for coming to my ted talk review.

Definitely not my favorite but that's not to say it's a bad song. For me, there isn't a bad song on the album. I just felt compared to tracks like battery, puppets, heroes, damage Inc. This one didn't match the other tracks on the album. Similar to Trapped on the RTL album. My opinion only.

The main part of Leper Messiah is pretty average for Master if Puppets (so still pretty damn awesome) but the switch to the solo section has got to be one of my favourite musical passages of all time. The way you get a completely new melody, that starts of relatively clean, but is adapted perfectly to become a thrashy masterpiece. The menacing rhythm guitar underneath just makes it even better too, especially when Hetfield uses harmonics live.

Yo I love how you are just reacting to all these different songs and now you’re taking your time to listen to the full albums now. Its truly great how you do research on everything and how you are genuinely intrigued and interested in this genre of music.

"That was sick" is almost audible at the end of the song (just before the last percussion). Probably said by Cliff or Flemming in studio. The definition of Leper Messiah, super underrated in comparison to the other songs in the album. Amazing.

The title of the song is taken from a line in David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust" ("Ziggy sucked up into his mind...like a leper messiah"). Around the time they wrote the album they were listening a lot of Bowie's classics. The post-solo riff on "Master Of Puppets" (written by Cliff Burton) is also shaped on the main riff from Bowie's 1971 song "Andy Warhol".

As a Christian I agree with this song. So many good churches that care about its congregation but the bad ones steal the headlines. One strong indicator that you are at the wrong church is if the pastor drives an expensive car or lives in a fancy house.

Yes, a lot of music today (and popular music in general) is mostly about the celebrity of the singer, rather than the music itself. The music is really just a backing track or a "stage" for the singer.

I’m a Christian and it’s sad that these things happen. But don’t let religion keep you away from Christ because they are two different things. Trust God and His Word. Not people. People are corruptible. The Bible says “cursed is the man that trusts in man”.
