Alexxa, in case you didn't know,....at the very end...."Buster Crabbe" was an actor who played in the TV show" "Captain Gallant" of the French Foreign Legion. I was 4 years old then....

So fun fact on this episode. This was originally going to be much easier in the season which you should be able to tell by Sophia's wig being different. Why it was pushed back I honestly couldn't tell you. But you may notice snippets of this episode in the opening sequence. I think my favorite joke from this episode is when Dorothy is saying "so youre a little older. So am I! So is Blanche! So you have a few more wrinkles. So do I! So has Blanche! So you're a little thicker around the middle. So is Blanche!" This show will have jokes that just leave you floored. I'm so excited because the series only goes up from here.

Paul Witt who was an executive producer, and Tony Thomas who was a producer, disliked Paul Bogart (a new director after the pilot's director departed) that they delayed this episode that he directed from airing after the pilot as originally planned. Instead, the show ran on March 8, 1986, by which time he had left. His work on "Guess Who's Coming to the Wedding?" did air as the second episode though. The other episodes he directed were "Transplant" and "Break-In."

One of my all time favorite episodes. I love them talking about their first time. They remind me of me and my closest friends. Love your reactions to the show. My brother loved this show so it reminds me of him

The characters of Dorothy and Rose were supposed to be 55 years old each, but both Betty White and be Arthur were actually in their mid 60s. Rue McClanahan on the other hand was actually in her mid 50s. Of course everyone knows Estelle Getty was much younger than her character of Sophia… but she was actually a year younger than Bea Arthur .

I'm sure the writers have made our ladies financially challenged for dramatic effect, but given that Rose, Blanche, and Sophia are all widows, there would have been some life insurance they could rely on; not to mention Social Security. Plus, they have several many children that would certainly help them out. But, that's TV, I guess.🤷🏿‍♂️

I agree 100% - I can't imagine being in her situation, especially nowadays with all the advancements in technology. If you aren't up to date, there aren't a lot of available avenues when you are laid off and have no prior experience.
