What impressed me the most of this incident was how you all treated each other. It was an accident. No one wanted that to happen. The way you all comforted the little boy was incredible. We clearly saw that the lady must have bumped into the throttle but you all chose to be patient and calm even after such a traumatic event. The reaction time to throttle it down, spiderman like. The boat is beautiful by the way. When I first saw it come into view I said Whoa! What is that! But what was even more beautiful was your treatment of each other. Concern for the boy, calmly dealing with aftermath, and no one losing it on that poor woman who I'm sure felt terrible. Much respect to the father and friends for showing us all how we should act. Alfred, your videos and style of interview are unique and enlightening. Thank you for what you do.

He shouldn't of because they made excuses when they messed up and instead of accountability or responsibility they brush it off that it could happen to anyone but that's not true. Only if they have bad habits and don't use safety precautions as intended or at all. That's my humble opinion. It's very misleading. George 100% messed up & now won't learn a thing instead of never making that mistake again. That button exist for exactly this reason and to give gas when starting with out flying off. Callous disregard for good boating habits. And no one will learn. Let's praise quick reflexes for how he responded to a potentially lethal completely avoidable that was all his fault. People do make bad decisions or forget, and that's believable & hes very lucky noone got hurt. But did he learn his lesson so it never happens again, I'm not so sure. Could this video be used to remind and show people what happens when you don't think - absolutely bit that's not what was done.

Great teaching moment for sure. It is so easy to trip, slip, and/or fall on any boat. Whiskey throttle is always in play. My new Yamahas have a neutral hold button that I am happy to use when the motors are on and I am away from the helm for any reason. Great follow up. Really nice guys. Beautiful boat. What really impresses me is Dave said how important it is for other people to know how to operate the boat if he can’t. I see so many couples on Haulover and hardly ever do you see the women learning to drive those waves.

The first thing I noticed when it happened was how good of a Dad that he was. I have had plenty of stuff happen while boating. Nothing serious at the dock yet, but I am sure it's coming. I lost a prop on an old Johnson motor and had to go swimming for it. Luckily the water wasn't deep. I had that same Johnson engine quit in the middle of the lake and had to get towed in. Only to find that it was a coil wire that came off when we hit another boats wake. I got stuck on a sand bar with my current boat. Luckily I powered out of it, but I replaced the water pump once I got it back home. Bad things happen to everyone. We just learn from our mistakes and move on.

They didn't take responsibility & I don't know why. In fact they are proud of how they responded to a completely preventable accident and blamed seat and other person. So wrong in so many levels. The boy messed up and if took responsibility would never forget to engage that button again making his lesson lucky to learn with out killing anyone. Instead ,he may have learned nothing .

No ,George is supposed to engage the safety neutral lock button every time he gets up out of the drivers seat when engines are on. George forgot and could of killed people. It's complacency with safety. Especially with someone sitting by the drivers chair. It's a 100% all the time no exceptions when you leave drivers chair w/ engines running. The captain could trip and hit throttles getting back in the helm. Luckily noone got hurt. Nice boat nice tour nice interview however Dave said only thing he'd do differently is get everyone off of the boat- that's blaming the lady who fell. It could of been George that tripped thus the safety button.

Excellent video Alfred!!! The owner was incredibly nice for letting you come to his home for a full explanation/demonstration of how this accident happened including the guy at the helm who left it for a blink an eye. There are plenty of videos showing the same thing where the captain leaves the helm with the engines running for a second and someone hits the throttles causing people to get hurt or scares everyone on board including the captain. This video should serve as a lesson for EVERYONE, even those with decades of experience on the water. It only takes one time for someone to get hurt or worse by one simple accidental action. 19:50 how it happened

A very informative video interviewing Dave, the DD owner and his Triple H Cat and his buddy at the throttle. Very level-headed crew who took the time to explain the mishap at the ramp. Moral of the story, keep people with bags away from the helm. Glad the boat or people didn't suffer too much.

I worked for SOUTHCO, FOR 22 years.. We made access fasteners for many boat companies. I retired in 2006. The latches you use were called M1 .. it makes me proud to see the stuff we made on these boats. PS. they are still paying me ,, pension to this day.

Heath is a great guy. He witnessed an accident while towing a boat on US1 about 2am that involved my son. He stopped and ran over to check on my son who was fortunately okay. The other driver ran the red light. Heath gave my son his card in case PD needed a witness and Heath apologized, but said he was going fishing, lol. He earned my respect and the HHH is now my dream boat.

I believe this is the same situation that occurred with the Two Conchs captain in the keys when a client leaned on the throttles and nearly sent the captain overboard. Which lead to a viral clip of them arguing across socials.

I've been boating since I was a kid and I laugh as hard as anyone at some of the non-damage related trouble people have. But the first time I took out a new Ski Nautique, the boat reacted in a way that spooked me, and I ran it right into the dock, just like that. I remind myself of that every time I see someone make a mistake. Thankful I had a good fiberglass and gelcoat guy back then...

When I saw the original, I saw it was not from negligence. I notice that lil Dave was just upset not afraid. It was just unfortunate that the lady hit the throttle, you could see the seat was too high and she stumbled forward. Great video and now maybe more folks will come forward and tell their story. One thing I will say, they were extremely calm and not excited through the entire event.

George messed up & didn't engage neutral safety button when he got up from drivers seat. It's 100% his fault & just lucky noone hurt or killed. Its there exactly to prevent this. Completely preventable situation. Not seats fault ,not person who moved ( albeit shouldn't of been there or moving around when power loading . In fact may have to powerload but it's actually illegal in most states it ruins ramps making the dirt build up in one spot and it's inharently dangerous BUT I agree with bunk trailers is needed with some boats. Dave mistake not clearing boat, trusting Dave and standing in dangerous spot too early.

They admitted they made mistakes and got comfortable landing the boat which led to the incident. Hopefully this video will help someone else not make the same mistake they did. Was it avoidable, yes, were they fortunate with minimal damage to the boat and no one getting hurt, yes, was it negligence, I don't think so careless, yes but negligence no. Have a good day.

Sophie person they never admitted to the real cause is my point. Lots of other excuses explained in detail but missed that George showed poor boating and made a potentially lethal oversight. They never once mentioned that he should have engaged the neutral safety switch whenever you leave the drivers seat with the motors running. Not once & it's basic boating safety. This type of accident should not happen. There's always time to flip the safety switch because it can kill.someone. do you put your car in park when you get out? In standard do you out emergency break on ? Especially with kids in it. Cmon.

Girl was getting of that helm chair, cushion/storage sprung forward and acted as a slide. Getting off seat to wait on boat or off of boat like they said they would’ve done different, wouldn’t have changed outcome. Rule of thumb when always tied up to a dock is to hit the neutral/throttle off button asap, good habit to have. Either way beautiful boat, and even better barely any damage. Boat looks like a solid tank.

But the boat has a safety to prevent this from happening if throttles get bumped . Boating 101. 100% Georges fault , not the friends fault. It's not like George forgot the fenders were out , lol this stuff is dealing with people and powerful running engines with fast props. Imagine if he did this at the sand bar they just left? If he took responsibility and realized what he screwed up than a lesson would be learned . George has no clue. Dave engaged it when he left the boats w/ motors running. It's common safety sense. This is serious and not forgot an anchor out & George still has no clue. George would be at Dave's funeral after running him over stating it was an accident . It's actually very serious. That's really bad safety habits. Never leave helm with motors running w/ out safety switch engaged.
