Ali Dean’s bass playthrough of Doomsday by Architects from the 2018 album, Holy Hell. Architects are one of the best metal bands the UK has produced in over a decade. Throughout their back catalogue, they’ve got a ton of anthems, but we reckon Doomsday could be one of the hardest to play on bass. In this video, Ali demos his impeccable bass guitar skills on a D-Roc Standard 5-string.
The band recently announced a North American tour, scheduled for Spring 2024. Learn more: architectsoffi...

Super tight and a beefy ballsy tone that sits with guitars perfectly

The riff is sick, the rest of the writing is great, the player is fantastic. The bass sounds fine in the actual song because it's not supposed to be out front. But this tone sucks for a playthrough video. You can hardly distinguish individual notes when he's playing outside of the riff. (i.e., 2:09)

@@ryanjd93 Sounds absolutely fantastic to me, but I'm listening through a pair of IEMs out an audio interface from my PC, so maybe not everyone's not really getting the same experience when the bass is this far out front. No problems hearing every note's attack and pitch just fine.

@FormaAlert I have a range of audio listening devices. I've been playing bass for 17 years. I also have a set of developed musical tastes and preferences. This sound doesn't do it for me. But at least we're all entitled to our own opinions.

@@limi. agreed, the bass line isn't very technically complex but serve the purpose to bridge the upper register and lower register in the sound of the song overall. if the bass removed from the song it wouldn't sound good like the song missing something, very good song writing and sound engineering too
