Hey guys! This was a great song for my Birthday! LOL! You guys suggested this song during our Live, and you were right , this song was a blast! Alice Cooper has a raspy soothing voice and it is quite unique. The bass line was very noticeable, it laid down the rhythm throughout the song and the drums added to the rhythm section. The guitar gave accents throughout the song that kept one motivated and interested! I loved the lyrics and how it expressed how when one is 18, "we don't know what we want." LOL! We hope you liked our reaction to this video and as always stay safe and we'll see you in our next video! We love you guys!

See, this is why I always encourage first time listeners to a song to listen to the STUDIO version first. Most of the time, a live version is inferior (and can be quite different) than the studio version. He completely omitted the first verse in this version. This is my favorite Alice Cooper song, but the studio version is much better.

Yeah..I don't know who keeps suggesting the live versions of everything. They're doing the girls (first time listeners) and the song itself a disservice. I've seen this video before (from a German tv show) and I love it, but then I've heard the album version 100x. I enjoy the jam from the band, but I miss his harmonica riff.

You just witnessed the birth of glam, punk , grunge but mostly shock rock. This is a bit of RNR history plus the added bonus of this being Alice with all the original members of the group. The best part is that Alice is drunk out his mind here which back in those days was part of his persona. It was once written "Alice prowls the stage with his patented lurch and stagger".

If you did not know, Alice Cooper was the name of the Band but when they broke up the lead singer took the name and legally changed his name to Alice Cooper and continued performing under this name as most people thought he was Alice Cooper anyway. Alice Cooper is in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame twice. Once as the original band and once as a solo artist. Alice Cooper basically invented glam and shock rock in the 60s. Alice Cooper is a mad golf fan. He plays several times a week. His biggest hit Poison, is an 80s hard rock classic.

Then others like Joni Mitchell, are more fluid in their experience and take life as it comes! You are not required to know what you want today. Have the greatest birthday! -Terry

Here is a little known fact about the 18 video. Alice is TOTALLY DRUNK in this performance. However --- He was very good at performing while being wasted blotto. He was what the term was --- a functioning drunk. This was early 70's when this was done. As the years progressed, so did his Alcoholism. He nearly died twice from it. Luckily he was able to stop by about 1985 or 86. His catalogue of albums is very impressive. Watch the 18 video again and look CLOSELY at Alice. You'll see that drunk smile and drunken stumbling in certain spots. But he makes it work by how he performed. I have followed his career since 1973 I think it was. That was when the School's Out Album hit the stores and airwaves. Now on a different note --- I have a request for you to react to. It is called "Take hold of the flame" by Queensryche. It is a MIND BLOWER. Incidentally, I just recently came across your videos and I think you two are awesome and love how you are discovering all of the good stuff that were mainstays on the charts and radio back in the day. I myself am a Musician and have been in many bands. I play Bass guitar and do Vocals as well. I am originally from San Diego Ca. I lived the 70's and the 80's music eras. There was no better music than then. I am presently 63. I am a Classic and early metal Rocker. I am Michael Ray. PLEASE review the Queensryche video. It is live from about 1984 and it is amazing. Thanks.

Whoever keeps recommending the live versions of everything is doing you a disservice. Always always use the studio/album version for your first listen. It will have the best sound quality and the most precise musicianship. THEN after you're familiar with the song you can listen to other versions and appreciate them for their uniqueness. For example, here Alice kinda mixes up the verses and does some ad-libbing (he seems pretty drunk) and the band isn't as tight as on the record (but they still sound great and it's an epic jam)...and it's missing Alice's harmonica riff. (btw...this was from a German tv show).

@@redled2677 Live performances of a lot of bands tend to be a failure. Led Zeppelin, for all the perfection of their studio work, was a hot self-indulgent mess in concert. The best exception I can think of is the 22 minute "Whipping Post" by the Allman Brothers which is absolutely stellar musically and technically.
@centuryrox
@centuryrox 2 жыл бұрын
@@stratocruising Yes indeed. As a huge fan of Zeppelin, I remember when the concert film "The Song Remains the Same" came out on home video. Many of my friends always loved watching it. Not me. While the video of "Dazed and Confused" and "No Quarter" were definitely very trippy, the songs themselves were hardly listenable, having been used to listening to the perfection of their studio versions. To me, the whole video was very tedious and boring.
@stratocruising
@stratocruising 2 жыл бұрын
@@centuryrox We should draw a distinction between live in the studio and live in concert. For instance, Jinjer's "Pisces' is a live in the studio and is about as good as you'll find. Or Lou Reed's "See that my Grave is Kept Clean" was live in the studio and I have a new-found respect for the man. I think the difference is partly better technology with less interference and partly having a producer to ride herd on the excesses.

There's usually a deep meaning behind Alice Cooper's songs. This one in particular is quite significant. He's talking about 18-year-old boys being drafted into the army going off to a war and very likely dying, meanwhile you can't drink until you're 21. To me when you're 18 you're still a kid you still have so much ahead of you. Government just wastes human life. The song has a similar message to war pigs by Black Sabbath. Songs came out about the same time

Complete with dancing girls, Alice chasing around a dancing tooth with a huge tooth brush, big prop sets including a guillotine execution of Alice where a large cyclops picks up his head as it continues to sing. Made a lasting impression on the difference between playing music vs. being an entertainer and putting on a show.

I do love Alice Cooper. One of my favourite artists ever! So seeing reaction videos for him always makes me smile! If you were to accept reaction videos from KZbin comments and if you would like to react to a song, I would like to put forward Aesthetic Perfection - American Psycho or Gods and Gold.
