I never noticed the lead guitars during the first chorus. They're really buried in the full song.

@@commandelutz7519 no if you listen closely it genuinely could be both. Layne’s voice wasn’t as clear as Jerry’s when he wasn’t pushing it. My guess is that Layne told Jerry how he got his Vibrato while he was screaming and then Jerry did it and therefore it sounds like it could be Layne. If you listen it genuinely could be either, I’ve never heard Cantrell scream so I can’t say what it would sound like, but I do know that if I had to guess it would sound a hell of a lot like this
@assnapkined92953 жыл бұрын
@@commandelutz7519 yes, that is true, but the “he-e-e-e-e” is enunciated the way Jerry would sing it with the way he sings, although admittedly, Layne too. But they did have fairly similar voices in terms of timbre, that’s one of the reasons their harmonies are so good. They just had completely different techniques/deliveries, obviously

Crazy how it blends so well with everything else mixed in that you don’t even notice.

Most of Jerry's solos are like how Johnny Cash sings. Cash's voice gets deeper as a verse goes on. Most singers go up and build the sing into a crescendo. Listen to Them Bones. Jerry's solo ends on a low note. Very unique.

It's cool he loses the timing a bit here and there and it is still awesome. Bands today are just focus on perfection in tone and execution but can't write songs to save their soul. Just a bunch of hyper compressed sterile crap.

Those bands often have the benefit of production value that didn't exist in the 90's.
