I don’t think everyone realize how hard it is to sing like this.
@cavemanzach94752 жыл бұрын
The fact that he was singing in a sustainable way is what surprises me. Kurt Cobain had an incredibly powerful voice but dude would cough blood in order to achieve it. Layne could have kept singing for decades whereas Kurt probably would have been done shortly after their fourth album due to wear on his throat
@IgneelS112 жыл бұрын
@@cavemanzach9475 I have to clarify something: to sing like this, you really need to know how to use your voice, dont stress and dont overcompress. only that way you can achieve these kinda tones. Its naturally sustainable this way :)

Everyone talking about Layne's monster performance here--and it's definitely deserved praise, the man has no equal--but Cantrell is fucking so tight on guitar. Every time he plays, the song sounds just like the studio, it's insane. His proficiency as a singer and a live guitarist goes largely unnoticed only because Layne is such a fucking monster. Really puts into perspective how truly good Layne was as a singer.

Mike had seen how bad Layne looked and wanted to call 911for an ambulance but Layne threatened to never speak to him again if he did, so Mike didnt know what to do. The last thing Layne said to anyone was to Mike and it was "dont leave, not like this" but Mike was also high on Benzos and left Layne at his apt alone. I see a lot of comments comparing Nirvana and AIC and speaking as someone that has A) seen them both in concert and B) spent time -albeit pretty fleeting- with both I would like to say this. They were both INCREDIBLE live. Both groups were filled with amazingly kind and very...conflicted people. Don't pit the two groups against each other, they were both undeniably amazing in their own right and both deserve to be celebrated for the creative geniuses that they were. Side note: Courtney really was a huge bitch, though.

The last chorus to man in the box live is always "bone chilling"when Layne sings it, but in this performance, i can't even describe the feeling i get every time i hear it. It sickens me to know that it can only get worse from here. I'm also pretty upset about the fact that I not only missed out on GOOD music by 20 years,but when my future children hear this they're gunna be like "shit, I didn't just miss out on seeing these guys,but mom did too" Kind of funny that when my Dad bought these CDs that 25 years later his daughter was going to steal them all.

Excluding Scott Weiland, who i still love, Staley, Cornell, Cobain and Vedder have never sang a song out of key in their lives. You see so many of those LA bands and overly produced bands fuck up big time live. Those guys it's like they have super hearing or something. No matter the sound level, the crowd, or their current state of being, they never fucked up a song. At least I've never seen them fuck up.

+MattTheMageofRage Kurt Cobain was the lead singer and guitarist of the grunge rock band Nirvana.
@cluper936610 жыл бұрын
This is why Alice in Chains shits on Nirvana when it comes to music. Nirvana gets wayyyy too much credit for grunge, especially since Alice in Chains had already had their first album go gold before Nirvana had even released a song. I mean come on Layne Staley has to rank up there with the greatest vocalist of all time, and lyrically Cantrell & Staley were light years ahead of Kurt. Don't get me wrong I have all the respect in the world for Nirvana, but they just get too much mainstream credit for some things.
@kurt_cobain_prod726410 жыл бұрын

@cluper936610 жыл бұрын
Kurt Donald Cobain Don't worry about it, your english is fine man. Buy you know I always felt that there towards the end, becoming mainstream was something that Kurt really struggled with....Now don't get me wrong nobody knows exactly what he was thinking except he/himself, but he had in a way become what he hated. He never really wanted to be a mainstream band, but songs like Smells like Teen Spirit & Heart Shaped Box had become his worst nightmare.
