Sadly, you can hear the slow steady decline. Wish he could've beat heroin. Imagine him and Chris as still the top voices in Rock. And sadly now he's gone too.

37 years alive on this Earth, and listening to this yesterday was the first time I’ve ever been actually moved to tears by any single piece of music. The range of emotion to describe what it means to “stare into the abyss”, to feel the void when not feeling the pain, but to remain unbreakable in the face it, like a soldier (“he ain’t gonna die!!!!) Layne LIVES ON in this recording.

@casey10bb Thank you for your comment. They do sound alike. This version of "Rooster" is, however, from the "Desert" bootleg. It was recorded live in Toronto, in 1992. The exact same version of "Rooster" can be found on the "Heroin" bootleg. The "Heroin" cover states that it was recorded in Toronto in 1992. I just compared the two versions, they are identical.

NO NO NO. I have been known to have an exceptionally great ear for music. I have heard the live version over 300 times. This is from 93 in Glasgow, the same as from the live album. This bootleg is in slightly lower pitch, than from the album but Jerry fixed that with protools. Also, if someone were to play me a song from any show from 92-93, i can make a very good guess of when it was because Layne's voice changed a little while going through the tour. This is also from the "Bad Dream" bootleg.

Jack Miller I was thinking that I study Layne alot his voice sounds early 93ish in this 1 he sounds exactly the way he did in the "jools Holland's" set up where they played them bones and would the picture in this is also wrong that pic looks like its from September of 91 remember when they played man in the box and sea of sorrow live on MTV either way this is a badass recording I'm really thankful for it!

Look at his left hand in the picture, he wears like a mitten glove but in ABC concert 1991 he doesnt appear with that at his hand

Jack Miller yeah I know im just saying this looks around the same time as the ABC concert and also the same time as the silver dollar salon and when they went on the clash of the titans tour with slayer anthrax and megadeath this pic of Layne looks mid to late 91ish but this AMAZING recording sounds mid 93ish like I just said around the jools Holland's concert thingy it was kinda weird Layne's voice was kinda "shitty" in 92 he sounded board witch is understandable cause they where constantly writing and touring but man this time in 93 he completely changed and became super Layne idk what it was I guess they got 1 of those short breaks for like a couple days lol man life on the road is not for me I am a musician and a artist with pencil and oil pastel but man I don't see how people are able to make a living off of it and actually make something so good out of it RIP Layne you and Bon Scott where the greatest singers of all time!!!
