how is it even possible to SCREAM BACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK like that? guy is just untouchable. I've probably listened to this about 20,000 times by now, and still blown away each time.

*****First you extend your range through classical technique, keeping an open throat and low larynx. Then you lift your upper lip in a sneer and squeeze your throat together to create the distortion. Singing that high, loud, and full is the hard part. Once you have range, you can distort it easily. It's just an overlay on top of the crazy loud resonance that you have worked for a long time to condition. Distortion can be had overnight. Building range can take years...

@into.the.wood.chipper. 9 жыл бұрын
iviatty You won't sound exactly like him if your voices aren't already very similar. But you will have your own sound, and your own tone of distortion. The best way to learn about that is to imitate the "witchy" or pharyngeal voice.

Sean can carry a groove like no one else. Super well rounded and plays what’s good and best for the song. Nothing flashy or over the top, I don’t think anyone would argue that he’s one of the best drummers to come out of the 90’s. Hands down.

I agree. I see a fair share of comments like this, he stays in the fucking pocket and grooves while pounding the fuck out of each hit. I personally find some of his work hard to hit, especially since i use two pedals. He uses his since kick with tom fills very uniquely.

Kurt = John Lennon (scream singing), Eddie V = Jim Morrison (Speak Singing), Chris C. = Robert Plant esche (vocal range) Layne S + No One.. He was his own, and look at all the Rock/Metal bands today who look to Layne as an influence. He invented the 'Yarl Snarl'. Layne and I would say Mark Lanegan are the 2 most Identifiable, Unique voices of that era.

Love the way Starr's baseline just drives the song along, while Cantrell's guitar just accentuates said bass line with his playing... not too much, but just enough to be top tier music writing. Then the whole song has got Sean's impeccable drumming as the backbone, with Layne and Jerry doing their back and forth singing, Layne crushing the lead vocals. This band was truly remarkable... always has been one of my favorites, since the cool days of mtv when they'd play actual music videos, instead of utter *CRAP.*

It’s just so heartwarming to me that regardless of which song, any AiC song’s comments section looks like this one - just filled with respect and great admiration for the band. Does anyone ever have anything bad to say about AiC? I have yet to see. So apparentaly I (and you guys) must have great taste in music, seeing as they are my favorite band of all time.

dominico collora you dont think he hits notes on that final verse? I was front man for a few smaller bands and I disagree if you think he's missing those notes, even the final. the first 2 yes, but the last 2 I feel he nails.
@karynhill2544
@karynhill2544 10 жыл бұрын
dominico collora Wow.... As a "musician," one would think you might appreciate that Layne might actually have sung it differently **intentionally**. Being the lyricist, lead singer, creator - I'd say poetic license applies. Besides, if he hadn't been drunk one night at a party and offered a bed, clothes, food, and shelter to a complete stranger (at the time... Jerry) AIC may never have come to be. Sure, their talents would have taken them places the likes most of us could never dream of, but still... AIC will never be what it was with Layne. They're good! But they are no longer exceptional... Have a great day!
@iviatty
@iviatty 9 жыл бұрын
Dominico Collora what not intentional? he has said BLOOD in many live performances; heroin goes INTO THE BLOOD AGAIN! layne is a dope fiend; the song is about another dope fiend who died over an overdose because the heroin went INTO THE BLOOD, AGAIN!

My favorite AIC song... I wish it was longer. The haunting change in key and chorus makes me cry. I also can't get over wondering about those lyrics, since Jerry wrote this about his friend Andy Wood who overdosed on heroin at 24. I wish Layne and Mike had taken the words to heart. ❤🙏 Know me broken by my master Teach thee on child of love hereafter Into the flood again Same old trip it was back then So I made a big mistake Try to see it once my way Drifting body, it's sole desertion Flying not yet, quite the notion Into the flood again Same old trip it was back then So I made a big mistake Try to see it once my way Into the flood again Same old trip it was back then So I made a big mistake Try to see it once my way Am I wrong? Have I run too far to get home? Have I gone? And left you here alone? Am I wrong? Have I run too far to get home? Have I gone? And left you here alone? If I would, could you?
