I love her dynamism and control. She brought an extra punch to everything she played.

I intend to listen to EVERY upload on this channel, starting with the earliest uploads, and working towards the present time. I'm so thrilled to have found a You Tube channel devoted to this wonderful lady. Listen how she makes this "early" work of Grieg sound so mature.

Mme Larrocha brings out all the lyricism and charm in this youthful work, showing Grieg well on the way to finding himself. I heard around 1990 playing this + Soler and de Falla, to a handful of people in Larvik on the South coast of Norway.

Surely the best performance of this masterpiece !!! I can hear harmonies from Grieg's Piano Concerto in the beginning of the second movement...she's a piano goddess !!!

I've loved this performance since first hearing it and I listen to it often...if only she had recorded a selection of the Lyric Pieces...apart from "Little Bird" and her ravishingly beautiful performance of "Nocturne", I don't believe she played any of the others, at least not publicly...

I've studied and performed this piece. Needless to say, I have listened to many different performances. This is the closest (so far) to how I envision ('envision' for the ears?) the piece to be. Congratulations, Ms. de Larrocha for almost reaching my level. (...!)

haha a very famous pianist. Perhaps you don't know much about classical music.

And I think it's extra special because Grieg was gay.

....what? he was not...and what if...? sensitivity has nothing to do with being gay or not.

Does that make his music more or less interesting??
@mikekarren50103 жыл бұрын
@@willemboone7912 Perhaps, only to gay folks? I would counter, does music composed or performed by str8 people make it better or worse, comparably? For me, the answer is no. But, I like to know as much as I can about the composer, what inspired this particular piece, etc. So I guess for me, the answer to your question is, YES. Everything I learn about the music and the composer makes it more special.
