While the rating of Alien: Romulus has not yet been announced, the reboot looks almost certain to avoid one major blunder the franchise made 20 years ago. The Alien franchise has been through many incarnations. The series started life as a claustrophobic space-set slasher when director Ridley Scott’s Alien arrived in 1979. Director James Cameron’s Aliens transformed the franchise into an action-forward adventure, while David Fincher’s Alien 3 brought the series right back to grim, nihilistic horror. 1997’s bizarre Alien: Resurrection saw Jean-Pierre Jeunet add some unexpected, and not entirely welcome, black comedy to the franchise’s tonal melange.
However, the biggest upset in the Alien franchise chronology came in 2004’s Alien Vs Predator. Directed by Paul WS Anderson, Alien Vs Predator saw the Xenomorph finally face off against another titan of sci-fi horror. However, this hotly anticipated showdown was hated by both critics and fans alike, and its 2007 sequel Alien Vs Predator: Requiem fared no better. There were numerous reasons that viewers rejected Alien Vs Predator including a glacial pace, confusing mythology, and unlikable characters. Many of these issues also plagued Scott’s later Alien prequels Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, but one element made Alien Vs Predator worse, an oversight that Alien: Romulus' story looks to fix.

My idea for a third alien covenant/prometheus movie is as follows: The engineers are the main characters in the movie and comes to the planet that was in the Prometheus movie. There they find Weyland inside the crashed spaceship. They have a blue elixir(which both heals and gives eternal life) which they empty all over him and bring him to life. But while doing this the Deacon from the Prometheus movie sneaks into their spaceship and hide it self in one of the ventilation chambers. In the next part they arrive at the planet from alien covenant and find the other robot(Walter) who is david's twin.The engineers use the blue elixir and repairs him. Once awaken the engineers and Weyland get to know all the horrible things that David has done, and weyland says "we have to stop David" . They set course for origae. When they arrive,they scans all the planet,and finds the planet is full of hostile organisms except on a high mountain where they discover that there are humans inside a cave. Inside the cave they meet a herd of children, who tell that when they had lived on the planet for over ten years, they began to be attacked by Xenomorphs and all the adults died or were turned into these creatures. There were also great giants developed by someone the children calls David. The engineers get ready to wipe out all the Xenomorphs that David has created, but the great giants manage to escape with one of the engineers' spaceships. The engineers and Weyland hunts the spaceship and manage to force the spaceship down on the planet lv426.Where it start sending a distress signal. The engineers return to Origae to find David, but discover that he has escaped. In the last part we see David arriving and meeting an unknown alien species on a tropical like planet. At the same time Nostromo leaves a nearby planet with the cargo of ore. But when he and the unknown aliens have left the spaceship,the deacon slips out of the ship and is seen running toward the nearest settlement. And that makes the cliffhanger that ends the third movie. The ending movie could have a duration about five hours ?

They made a bit of confusion with the subtitles, in my opinion. The first 4 movies, at this point, should have been called "Alien: Nostromo", "Alien: Sulaco", "Alien: Fury" and "Alien: Auriga".

Face Hugger seems to have tremendous speed, strength (breaking glass) and flying ability. The Alien also has incredible speed. When in doubt, make it more grounded.

What’s kind of stupid about this franchise is that the alien isn’t even killing humans for food. It just, for some random reason, kills humans. Like, I could see if there was a queen on board, in which case it needs humans for the eggs. But with no queen, what’s the point of the alien killing everyone on board? What’s it going to do after everyone’s dead, commandeer the ship?

You probably haven't read the books then? it explains how a Queen is created (kinda like how certain insect are made into queens) The books go into detail about why they kill or capture for food etc... you should take a look

I think it’s a little curious that in all the movies, this is never revealed, as in Alien, it was just a rampaging monster. In Aliens, there was a queen, so it made sense. In Alien 3 (dog alien), once again it was depicted as a rampaging monster. In Alien 4, that was just a weird movie with clone Ripley. In Covenant, the aliens are depicted as a biological weapon of war. In Prometheus, again, just kind of a weird AI revenge movie. So in all these movies, they never talk about insects and queens and why the aliens just seem to mindlessly attack and kill and, most importantly, don’t seem to eat anything they actually kill. I mean, have you ever seen an alien eat? Anything? Do they eat in the books?

As movie franchises go I must admit Alien is pretty solid. Not a fan of "Resurrection" and think Alien 3 has some genuinely strong moments and appreciate what Fincher was going for. Not many frachises that have lasted this long are as strong. The trailer for this one promises more of the same so I'm hoping it does offer something more than what appears a re-tread of the original, but given it's place in the order of things, between Alien and Aliens, I suppose you have to view it within the context of the Alien timeline.

I always find myself hoping for the best in an upcoming alien picture, but this one looks like it won’t make my fav list.
