Also said by Augustine - "Woman does not possess the image of God in herself but only when taken together with the male who is her head, so that the whole substance is one image. But when she is assigned the role as helpmate, a function that pertains to her alone, then she is not the image of God. But as far as the man is concerned, he is by himself alone the image of God just as fully and completely as when he and the woman are joined together into one."

You clearly don’t know anything about Roman history. Christians were a threat, not because they were loving, which they were, but because they posed an opposition to the state. They said that their followers shouldn’t follow the roman state or Roman gods, but instead only Jesus. You’d be surprised how little it takes for someone to kill another. Dangerous praying to Fake Name JESUS! As a matter of fact, the name ‘Jesus’ did not even exist in the English language 400 years ago-as evidenced by the fact that it was not recorded in the original 1611 King James Bible. But let's dissect that name anyway as that has come to be the accepted name of the Messiah today we need to address it. If the first part of the name 'Ιη' (Ie) comes from 'Iehovah' following the Jewish superstition not to use Yahuah thereby using Elohim in the vowel points resulting in ignorance of the name Jehovah. The Century Bible, Volume 1, pages 90-91 Sometime after the return from the Captivity, and before the beginning of the Christian Era, the Yahdaim (Jews) came to believe that the Holy Name Yahuah was too sacred to be uttered on ordinary occasions. It was said to be pronounced by the High Priest on the Day of Atonement. At other times, when any one read or quoted aloud from what is called the Old Testament, the word "Adonay","Lord," was usually substituted for Yahuah, and similarly the LXX (Septuagint Version) has Kurios, the Vulgate dominus, and the e.v. lord, where the Hebrew has Yahuah. Hebrew was originally written without vowels, but when the "vowel points" were added, the vowels of "Adonay" or "Elohim" were written with Yahuah, as a direction that these words were to be read instead of the word whose consonants were Yahuah; thus we find the combinations YeHoWaH and YeHoWiH. At the Reformation, the former being the more usual, was sometimes used as the Name of the (Mighty One) of Israyl, and owing to ignorance of its history was misread as "Jehovah," a form which has established itself in English, but does not give the pronunciation of the Holy Name it represents. Therefore the prefix of the name Je or (Ie) is in error. But does the suffix 'σους' (sous) mean 'saves' or 'salvation' in the Greek of the New Testament period? No. We know for a fact that "Iesous" was not then the proper way to translate the "intent" of the name given the Messiah that ‘Yahuah is salvation’ even in Greek or Latin. The Greek word for "salvation" is Strong’s entry 4991 soterion it is not sous. Strong's Number: 4992 soterion, adjective. Meaning saving, bringing salvation he who embodies this salvation, or through whom God is about to achieve it in the hope of (future) salvation So if the translators were even true to their own language it would not have been translated "Jesus" or "Iesous" but rather "Iasoterion". It must be obvious by this point where the suffix "seous" came from. Jesus holds to the Greek tradition of naming people after their pagan god of the Pantheon… Zeus. Why did the translator use "sous" instead of "soteria"? Greek naming conventions give glory to Zeus It should be noted at this point that the Greeks had a similar naming convention as did the Hebrews. Where the Hebrews used “YAH” in the construction of their names giving glory to Yahuah, the Greeks ended names and cities using “sous/sus/us” after their own god Zeus. Take for example the name of Julius Caesar “Gaius Julius” or the name of the Roman Emperor Constantine who literally created Christianity “Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus Augustus”. The suffix “us” was added to Greek and Roman names to give glory to Zeus where Yah was added to Hebrew names to give glory to Yahuah. Jesus is just such a Greek name like all Greek names ending in "us" that gives glory to Zeus! Dictionary of Christian Lore and Legend “It is known that the Greek name endings with sus, seus, and sous were attached by the Greeks to names and geographical areas as means to give honor to their supreme deity, Zeus." "This name of the true Messiah, Yahusha, being Hebrew, was objectionable to the Greeks and Romans, who hated the Judeans (Jews), and so it was deleted from the records, and a new name inserted. Yahusha was thus replaced by Ie-Sous (hail Zeus), now known to us as Jesus." Iesous in Greek So Yahusha is English for the Hebrew name of the Messiah (anointed King of Israel) and Jesus is the name of the Greek “savior” or Christos. It is that simple. But what does “Iesous” mean in Greek. It has no meaning in Hebrew; as it is not a Hebrew word. In Greek, “Iesous” literally translated means “Hail Zeus”. The name “Jesus” didn’t even exist until the 4th Century and was a later derivative of the late Latin Esus (pagan female god of salvation which later became Hesus or Hail Zeus then when the "I" grew a tail and became "J" it was Jesus. The Origin of Christianity by A.B. Traina "It is simply amazing to think that all these years, hundreds of years, mankind has been calling the Saviour by the wrong name!! It's hard to give up the name of Jesus because it's so deeply ingrained in us and much has been said and done in that name." Gospel of The Kingdom True Names and Title Dr. Henry Clifford Kinley 1931 - Ohio USA "In the 1611 KJ New Testament the name Yahusha appeared originally wherever the Messiah was spoken of. Yahusha means “Yahuah is Salvation”. Later the Messiah's name was replaced with Iesus (Greek) which later in the 1600's it became Jesus starting with the new English letter "J" which was introduced at that time. Further, the Greek "Iesus" comes from the name Zeus, the ruling God in the Greek pantheon." Gospel of The Kingdom True Names and Title Dr. Henry Clifford Kinley 1931 - Ohio USA 80 We see in historical documents that the name “Jesus” did not even come into existence until the 1600’s when the letter “J” was introduced into our English language. So the name “Jesus” is only around 400 years old! The Greek "Iesus" comes from the name Zeus, the ruling God in the Greek pantheon. "Jesus” is a transliteration of a Latin name only ONE letter off “Ioesus” pronounced hey-sus - which has no meaning in Hebrew, but in Latin it means “Hail Zeus”. If Yahusha’s name had been transliterated into our language, it would have been Joshua. If the name was treated properly using the compound naming convention Yahuah intended it would be YAH(weh)SHUA shortened to “Yahusha” using the short contracted form maintaining the meaning of the name and fulfilling prophecy that the Messiah “came in the NAME of Yahuah”. If the name was handled properly in Greek by the uninspired pagan scribes, it would hold true to the “meaning” of the name as given by the Angel to Joseph and Mary; then “shua” or salvation would have been translated “soterion or soter” not “sous”. So we see a gross mis-handling of the Messiah’s name at best but when you look back in history we see a Hellinization of the name with the intent to give glory to the pagan god Zeus. So both the prefix of "Ie" and the suffix of "sous" are in error and are mistranslations of the Hebrew name Yah and shua. If the Greek translators handled the Hebrew name properly it would have been translated into Iasotera which would be Yah-savior in Greek. In the 21st century we have no need to trace the Messiah's name through pagan Rome. We, today, can simply translate it directly from Hebrew to English leaving out all the transliteration errors going from Latin/Greek and all the English variations. That name is Yahusha… directly from יהושע Luke 13 35 “Look, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of Yahuah.’"

I cannot have it all ways, my ways; It's God's word and truth, HE speaks ,cutting right down the middle. The goats on one side and the sheep on the other. I just left a church where the pastor had been a student of RC Sproul's when in seminary but would quote the likes of Rob Bell and other far left liberals who reject the historic doctrines RC Sproul taught. Listening to this way almost made me dizzy as one minute he was quoting RC Sproul or Augustine and then it was Tim Keller, Rob Bell, Bill Hybills or some other far left pastor. He appears to be so open minded that nothing is off limits to him.

Christians today will interpret stoning children as “metaphor” or “no longer applicable.” Frankly, if you aren’t one of those Christians, I think you need to be asking yourself questions to do with morality. The few distant relatives I do have include one who died fighting to end slavery, and another worked in the underground railroad to save escaped slaves. None of my relatives owned slaves. But rather than being defensive, I will acknowledge that inexcusable harm was indeed caused to your family, and your pain is real and needs to be acknowledged. And yet you are here claiming your post reflects Christianity. I will also ask how your comment reflects Jesus? How does this represent the Jesus who opened salvation to all people of all races by dying to save them? The Jesus who said of the very people KILLING him, “Forgive them, for they no not what they do”? Where is forgiveness in your heart? You are allowing your pain to take you down a self-destructive road. Matthew 7:1-5 “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.” Matthew 6:14-15 “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Holding to unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. It only hurts you. It does not free you, does not bring healing, and will never lead you to becoming more like Jesus.

From my perspective, fundamentalists and evangelicals share a common problem. It is easy enough for a person to say he takes the Bible “literally”. But every person I have ever met who claimed to take the Bible literally has simply agreed with what he was taught about which parts of the Bible are to be taken literally and which parts are not. Such people manage to place enough emphasis on the parts they take literally that they manage (or at least seem to manage) to ignore the parts they don’t take literally. In the sixteenth century, the puritans took such Bible texts as Galatians 3:29 literally. "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." (See also Matt. 3:9, Rom. 9:6-8, Rom. 11, Gal. 3:7 & 9, Eph. 2:11-19) The puritans who aspired to build a puritan society in North America thought of themselves as Israelites and thought of North America (or at least their own colonies in North America) as the new Israel. They also applied the phrase “new Jerusalem” to their concept of an ideal society in North American, apparently not taking literally the description in Revelation 21:2 “And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” In their quest to rid themselves of the doctrines of the Roman Church, the New England puritans were diligent to take the instructions of Exodus 16:23 literally “...To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the Lord: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.” The New England puritans did no baking and no cooking on Sunday, having prepared their sabbath meals beforehand. Apparently they did not take literally the instruction in Exodus 20:8-11 “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” The instruction about preparing meals before the sabbath day was in the context of the giving of the manna (Ex. 16) so there could hardly have been any question about which day of the week there was a double portion of manna or on which day the Lord rested, i.e. the day of the week when no manna appeared. In the nineteenth century, the law of the conservation of matter (aka the conservation of mass) was taught as a “scientific principle”. In an attempt to reconcile the creation account in Genesis with the law of the conservation of matter, Joseph Smith Jr. taught that the God of Genesis “created” things on Earth but only in the sense of rearranging existing matter. In a manner reminiscent of the theology of the puritans, Smith taught that believers (i.e. his followers) constituted modern Israel but made a distinction between them and “the Jews”. As I understand their teaching, LdS (Mormons) in the twenty-first century teach that the modern political nation in the Middle East should more properly be called Judea (because it is populated primarily by the “Jewish” descendants of the southern of the kingdoms that split after the reign of Solomon). It was also in the nineteenth century that John Nelson Darby developed a way to deny the “literalism” of the puritans with regard to the identity of Israel. While not explicitly denying that the church is “spiritual” Israel, Darby developed the doctrine that the promises to Israel and the prophecies about Israel should be understood as applying to “literal” Israel, i.e. the “literal” descendants of the patriarch, Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel. Beginning in the middle of the twentieth century, fiat creationists could point to Colossians 1:12-17 as evidence that matter and energy are interchangeable and that, if the God of Genesis 1 was the source of unlimited power (energy), he could literally create matter by converting that energy into matter. “Giving thanks unto the Father...Who hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:...For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” In the twenty-first century, I think most people in the United States tend to understand the word “fundamentalist” and “fundamentalism” as relating more to enthusiasm for a particular interpretation of the Bible or the Qur’an than to the “literalism” that may have been part of the early development of such an interpretation. When that kind of religious enthusiasm is combined with enthusiasm for a particular political doctrine, it produces something about which many people can get excited - an us-vs-them mentality. Maybe, instead of trying to divide Christianity into opposing camps of “conservative Christianity” and “progressive Christianity” (or denying that progressives are ‘“really” Christians), we should consider a third approach to this subject. To the conservatives of the sixteenth century, Luther’s doctrines were heretical because they were progressive. To the English of the eighteenth century, the Wesley brothers doctrines were heretical because they were progressive. Maybe, instead of insisting that a particular Bible interpretation is “historical”, we should encourage people to study the history of the Christian church so each can decide for himself when a particular emphasis originated and the context of such origins. Example: Dispensationalist/futurist eschatology is popular among Christians who think of themselves as conservative. They think it is THE historical method of Bible interpretation. In fact, not only did that interpretation of Bible prophecy not exist before the nineteenth century and was not widely taught before the twentieth century, it is in some ways antithetical to both the methods and eschatology of practically all protestants of the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Be careful. If you appeal to what you consider to be historical Christian doctrine, you may find that you have painted yourself into a corner.

If I had not come into Christianity through Reformed theology I would gone over to the Progressive camp myself. Today I see so many people drawn to it, because it speaks to their sense of social and economic justice, as witness Pope Francis and his encyclical Amoris Laetitia, which contains many good things. (Watch Bishop Robert Barron speaking on Amoris Laetitia on KZbin.) I came to faith through teachers like Francis Schaeffer, Os Guinness, R.C. Sproul, A.D. Carson, John MacArthur, John Piper, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Gresham Machen, B.B. Warfield. So the Progressive heresies made no impact on me, though there are many with these views on the Patheos website. Give me Young, Restless and Reformed any time. Thanks for your vlog, Alisa. I understand that Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton attended a Progressive church, and that says much about them.

Through my church's high school youth group i made many friends, and learned the same things a conservative church taught their youth groups ( I learned this later). I only realized there was something wrong with my church when I got involved in politics. The sermons were far too political, and some things were just not true ( when it came to current events). I couldn't take it anymore and left. Now I'm looking for a new church. My parents said when they first joined the church in the late 90s they were mostly moderate conservative Democrats. I am so thankful that I don't have to worry about this. I can't count how many times my pastor has stated before a sermon that the subject of the message we were about to hear would offend the world; would be rejected by the world; would make the world hate us. Then he'd remind us that the reason we preach these things regardless, is because God's Word is truth; if we are offended by something in the Bible, then the fault lies not with God's Word, but within our own hearts, and we are the ones who need change. My Testimony: On Sunday, March 6th, 2016, I walked into the doors of Apostolic Truth Church in Appleton Wisconsin. At the time, I was a self-identified transgendered woman. I lived and dressed as a woman full time, to the point at which I did not even own a single article of men's clothing. However, I was an honest person who was open about myself, and therefore it was easy to see at a glance that I was actually a man dressed as a woman. When I walked into ATC that Sunday morning, I was dressed in a black and blue dress and silver high heels. Also, my hair was dyed neon pink (lol). Nonetheless, I was warmly welcomed into the church, in the same manner, that you'd expect for any first-time visitor. Of course, I found out later that they were all praying for me behind my back :), but I digress... After three months of attending this truth-preaching, love-others-to-God church, I was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of my sins - following Acts 2:38 - and my life did an instant 180! The change was literally instantaneous. When my pastor lowered me into the water, I was nervous and scared, almost to the point of feeling completely terrified. I had identified as a trans woman for my entire life (I was baptized 9 days before my 32nd birthday), and I had known no other feeling or life alternative to that. Yet there I was, giving it up and laying it at the feet of our Lord. When my pastor lifted me out of the water, well... as I said to him later, "For the first time in my life, I feel like a new MAN (yes, I emphasized that word) in Christ Jesus!"

@Eevee * many of the message of the prophets were about changes to make society more just, James decries the exploration of the poor by the rich and the year of Jubilee acted to stop inequalities building up generation after generation like.they can do in capitalist societies. Liberals/progressives often make the mistake of focusing on social justice and forgetting the need of personal salvation and the problem of personal sin, some evangelicals make the opposite mistake and limit the gospel to the personal and individual - say a prayer to go to heaven and avoid sexual sin and that's all God cares about without realising the larger systemic injustices that also lead to people being exploited, held back from their God given potential and life. Hiring a social justice pastor might suggest a church that is forgetting the personal dimension of faith, or it could signify a church that is already strong on this waking up to other dimensions of God's calling on his people.

@@Kwildcat13 Is that not the issue with Christianity wholesale though? The broad range of sects and denominations is the result of conversations starting off with something deemed to be contentious in scripture, resulting in charges of 'context! context!' and then criticizing fellow believers of not being true to the scriptures. Despite how favourable this comment section is to the presenter, there are far more Christians out there who will take/give umbridge to what's been said. Christians, and indeed people of all faith traditions seem not to get that many believers (though not all) are ostensibly compelled to be 'salesfolk' for their faith. Essentially 'our product is the best one for you.' Any thoughts on this?

@@ntr10me Here is the whole chapter. I wonder if @Beastbombshell can point to the verse that gives the proper "context". 2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle-I am telling the truth, I am not lying-and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles. 8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. 11 A woman[a] should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[b] she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15 But women[c] will be saved through childbearing-if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

@@skyeangelofdeath7363 yep, right up there with the Quran chapter 4. you know, the chapter that encourages 'frowning' when a woman doesn't comport herself in the matter for which she has been designed. You know, because of context. Ugh

I think heresy is more appropriate. The people who practice heresy are heretics. Thees heretics want to delude themselves thinking they can eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and demand that God should let them into the Kingdom on their terms. Thees retched creatures have fallen to the level of hairless apes. As Christians we must remember the church policy in Titus 3:10-11 concerning waywardness in the faith.

Because they haven't come enough to their senses to completely ditch Christianity, but have at least realize that they need to ditch the worst parts of it.

You do realise that Jesus was a socialist? He advocated paying taxes, giving away one's wealth to the poor and being meek. He would be appalled at the materialism of many Christian evangelicals and their support for a lying, cheating, fornicator like Trump.

Amen and thank you for this. I've heard these before and it is so pervasive now, it's almost impossible to find a church that doesn't have this sickness in it. It's very discouraging. All of the churches around us are going progressive. Add to that a focus on "vision casting" and "building projects" (larger sanctuary, larger youth facilities, more office space, etc). The gospel is all but lost. Please pray for my family, we are isolated and we cannot find like minded Christians that don't subscribe to this different gospel.

I moved to a new state, but because of the virus, I still follow my old church on KZbin. I had suspected it was heading to progressive teachings, but it's full woke now. My closest friends there have left, which isn't easy in rural New England.
