I think Empathy is one of the most underrated perks in the game. Since the range is pretty much infinite you can do a lot with it, especially if you’re playing by yourself. You can do A LOT for your team as a solo with it by being a support/heal/unhooking teammate. I’ve been running Overcome, Empathy, We’ll Make It and Distortion for a while now and have been really successful with this build!

A few slight errors: - 20:54 Prove Thyself doesn't fully cancel out the penalty for working with multiple people on a gen (that's why the repair bar stays red) - 3:03:30 Lightweight reduces the duration of scratch marks by a whole 5 seconds, not 3-4.

I have a theory that the perk Empathy is highly underrated especially in solos, I’ve been running it for months and ive become sort of addicted to it. The most useful part of the perk is that it makes it REALLY easy to tell where survivors are getting chased off gens. The range is obviously huge. Youll see them on a gen via the portrait interface and then you see them get chased off, eventually take a hit, and then u can figure out where their gen was. Additionally: if youre like me and have crazy adhd and get soooo bored when working on gens, empathy is fun because you get to watch your teammates loop and get chased lol. With the Made For This meta you get to watch for so much longer :) you also can see which pallets theyre dropping and this lets u know where any potential deadzones are, even if its at the other end of the map! It also helps a lot for helping teammates and stuff of course. Killers often claim im part of a swf bc of body-blocks ive pulled off. Its also clutch for self-healing kinda bc as long as someone else is injured you can link up w them to reset a lot of the time. Idk i guess it feels like a weirdly multipurpose perk One of my fav ways to use it is to stop claudettes from self-caring in the corner for hours lmao i hunt them down and heal them myself and run off
@Charlie-vp5tn
@Charlie-vp5tn 10 ай бұрын
I think many perks that listed here are underrated. I like using Empathy myself and it helps a lot, and yeah it makes doing gens a bit less boring. I also really like Alert, it helped me in chase many times.
@fabib2031
@fabib2031 10 ай бұрын
Most of this can be replaced with game sense. After a certain amount of time playing this game you know where your teammates and the killer spawns so you need which gens are being worked on or where they get chased. But empathy can still be useful.
@campbellkramer3294
@campbellkramer3294 10 ай бұрын
@@fabib2031 i def agree yeah, game sense and team comms. I'd say the "average" player usually lacks these though including me to a decent extent tbh haha. Worth noting too is that a lot of these types of perks that could be replaced with rly good game sense (eg Kindred, spine chill, deja vu, etc) are also pretty good at *teaching* game sense, you know what i mean? like... allowing you to "see" more of whats going on in your matches. I think that's how it works for me anyways? sorry just thinking out loud kinda lol

But as Otz said if the killer is running Fearmonger or whatever, it’s basically no use other than still having Stake out as a backup.

One thing to note about using the perk lithe to unzone yourself. (0:37:25) If the killer has enduring you will get grabbed if they react, happened to me before. So if you notice the killer has enduring you should try to bait them into not breaking the pallet after you drop by running somewhere stupid. If they break the pallet then you made distance, if they don't you can run back to it and make distance. Not a sure fire way to get outta your situation but it could at the very least buy time. I know Otz can't go into this because video is massive but, I felt I needed to put this here for people who are here in the comments to learn the game. Fantastic video Otz keep it up man.

Otz I love you so much for this video. I stopped playing for a long time before they released wesker and I had no idea about both the survivor perks and the killer perks so this comes in clutch. I really hope you do a video like this for the killer side too as it would help me get back into playing killer too😊

so far when it comes to perks that involves generators, i personally love DEJA VU. apart from helping me locate the generators, it helps me and my friends choose which generator to focus on (the middle gen) to avoid a 3 gen set-up in late game. Since deja vu highlights 3 generators that are closest to each other, focusing on the middle gen helps create more distance between the remaining generators, we do this repetitively.

Regarding Hyperfocus, it should be noted that using Brand New Part and those skill checks WILL count for getting token for the perk which can help get skill checks later on that gen. Those skill checks are also notably a little easier than normal great skill checks too so that's also another good combo

Hi Otz, while I enjoy these long discussions about perk tiers and commend the time it takes to put together these multi-hour videos, I believe beginners/intermediates would *extremely* benefit if you also provide some footage that showcases the strengths/weaknesses of each perk. It would take a lot of additional effort, but I think it would be really beneficial to those beginners/intermediates to better grasp the game

Inner Focus had quickly become one of my favorite info perks. It activates all the time. And get this, you dont have to follow the killer to get value. Knowing where the killer is and what they are doing has kept me from running directly into the killer SO many times. It’s especially useful on indoor maps and against snowball killers. I'd argue that it should be higher. The Scratch mark portion of this perk, also gives me a good idea of where chases are taking place and allows me to make good choices to avoid chase, or where to body block when necessary.

Lightweight is decent, your scratch marks are gone after 5 seconds plus theyre more spaced out. Helps in chases aswell as stealth because you can flee from a spot when you know a killer is coming for it
@cutmeloosebruce1955
@cutmeloosebruce1955 5 ай бұрын
More spaced out scratches makes it easier to find you, one of the ways a lot of killers find survivors is by scratches on the sides of walls, trees, or rocks, stuff like that probably helps me like once a match (at least on outdoor maps, on indoor ones this isnt as true for obvious reasons)

Object of obsession looks like a really mean perk for SWF teams. Usually some pro runner puts it on and they either constantly call out your location to friends, or force you to chase them through loops for an entire match. Don't know why it received only one star, its a real pain in the ass to play against groups running it, especially if you are not esports dbd player.
