Great vid Brent and thanks for sharing those ninja stick techniques. I will give it a go next time when I see similar issues. I have also seen some folks using the steamer to pull back the film pas the stretch mark, relax the film and tack it back, although its more a time sensitive correction. I do prefer your technique a lot more! I’d appreciate a very detail video how to wrap corners, with different type of corners and also would be great if you could show us how you use Core software to verify and cut the patterns, what you look for in a good kit, what edges you typically extend, especially for matte film installs where the coverage is crucial for a great quality job… Happy New Year! 🎉

😂😅 Ninja stick techniques... Thank you for the comment and video ideas. I've already posted a video that goes over 6 different ways to wrap corners. 👍I'll add a like at the end of this comment. I've thought about CORE software "how to" videos. I wasn't sure how interested people would be. Let me see what I can do! These are great video ideas, Thank you! I put them on my list. I have seen and used hot water and steam to help when pulling PPF back to remove contamination and stretch/work marks. I've recorded a couple videos with the hot water but something went wrong with the video and it's wasn't going to work to post. So if the paint job has a lot of orange peel like a lot of new cars do, does th PPF lessen the appearance or does it show up?

The orange peel still shows up. PPF does hide a couple of things, though. It hides light scratches and swirls. As well as it makes the surface very glossy. So, if gloss ppf is applied over a matte paint, it will make it look like a gloss paint. Great question, by the way. 😁

Hi bro i`m south korea installer , do you often encounter lift line or bond problems when working on bonnet ppf? and Dry bond marks that look like twinkling stars often appear. Do you know how to solve them? (This happens often on black body vehicles)

Welcome to the channel! Black is definitely the hardest color to install PPF on. It shows everything. My best guess is that you are talking about "chicken skin". It occurs when you have too much soap in your slip solution. Tinny spots of the adhesive will start to tack and as you squeegee down new areas you move the PPF (that you've already tacked down) just a tinny bit. This causes little dots in the adhesive. These dots are tinny and there can be hundreds of them. If this is the problem you need to use less soap. You can also try squeegeeing much softer on the panels you normally get these, although the best fix is less soap. I normally only see this issue on hoods.

Brent, should PPF installers wear watches while doing installs?

I'll leave that to personal preference. I'd say no for new installers. It comes off when it needs to. I use it to answer business calls while installing. That way, I can talk and work at the same time. 😁👍🏻

@@EncorePPFtint Reason I ask is because I just had a PPF installation by an extremely well know shop. My car got nicked during the install. The social media ads for this particular installer look like watch ads. Installers wearing huge metal watches. Makes no sense to me.

I can honestly say that it hasn't ever been a problem for me. I wear a silicone ring on my finger so I can wear it while working. I don't think it's common practice to wear jewelry during installs. Damage can be caused by so many things in our industry. Even our spray bottles can do some real damage. Did the shop confess to the damage and fix it?

Overall, I'd say that installers should not be wearing huge metal watches during installs. It's normally not worth the risk.
