I can confirm that the Shanghai made Model Y Long Range as shipped into UK earlier this year and we collected on 23rd February, as widely reported, had such harsh and noisy suspension as to cause sound pressure pulsing in the cabin. Everyone who travelled in our car could experience the effect and around 1/3 got headaches from it. As Tesla's UK finance partner, Black Horse refused to take this up with Tesla, despite Tesla seemingly being open to taking the car back, we sold the Model Y for what we paid for it. The Model X we bought instead, is obviously far superior in terms of ride harshness. If as Richard Symons and you have reported, that the Model Y has softer, more compliant suspension and other improvements, such that sound pressure pulsation does not happen, we may very well try again and change our Model 3 LR for one in due course.

I ordered from Portugal so I believe I will receive the Chinese version, from what you said at the end of this vídeo the Chinese factory was already been upgraded to have the same new things as the German one, so this means that my Tesla will have a smooth suspension and the rest of the things German factory had improved?

I bought the 2022 Tesla Model Y SR delivered in March with the 60kwh LFP battery, double glazed windows etc. Based in Shenzhen, on a 100% full charge I get 430-433km on the meter with 19inch std wheels and my moderate driving style and after 3K km, I average 137watts per km (80/20 city/highway). If you choose the larger wheels say 20inch, efficiency would be reduced quite a bit (

You may be a Tesla genius, but you are lost over wheel sizes. It might help to stop thinking about the incremental differences available in a Tesla dealership and consider the _real world._ For my demonstration, I will invoke the spoked wheel of a covered wagon and compare that to a skateboard wheel. If we placed spoked wheels onto your Tesla, the car could literally navigate the Oregon Trail. You get that fact, don't you? Those massive wheels would cover ANY terrain, from deep river fordings, to carved rock steps. The massive wheels would not perform as well, on a tennis court, or skidpad. Giant wheels DO NOT turn well, they go straight, VERY well. If we placed skateboard wheels onto your Tesla, it would OWN the pavement - if said pavement were flat enough. Tiny wheels cannot negotiate rough terrain, but they turn and slide, VERY well.

@@aardque These cars' tires have the same outside diameter it's the rim that varies. It is all about rotational inertia. Google it. Formula one cars have smaller rims with thicker rubber but designed to lower the rotational inertia which allows them to accelerate quick and stop quick but that is not economical in a long straight drive. But, good for city driving where you make a lot of stop and go. On the other hand, if you drive a long straight highway a car with wheels that high rotational inertia, wheel act like a flywheel. It is harder to turn but once it is turning it will tend to keep turning and very little force needed to keep it going but, it is harder to stop. So, it could be that the bigger rims, the design spread the weight of the wheel evenly thus lowering the rotational inertia (little rubber/weight at the outer part) so it can accelerate quicker, handles better but not economical. On the other hand, the smaller rims with much rubber/weight on the outer side increases rotational inertia and acts like a flywheel, economical to run on highway driving.

When I picked up our Model Y 2 months ago it was pouring rain like crazy - I had an APP that went through several hundred things to check - which I did and got soaked to the bone - found one little scratch on the top of the driver's side mirror. I reported it and they put on a new mirror - took 5 minutes. The service department said they have a similar checklist and each new car is run through that list and they feel let down if anything slips through. They can fix ANYTHING they find before you get your car. So QC is at the local service center to check and fix - if you have any problems with your new Tesla heads should roll at the service center.

Tesl’s cars can use a thicker coat of painting. it is tested to be arond 100 micron, and premium cars usually have that above 150 micron. Also, many people say tesla’s paint is “soft”, particularly the black paint. all these are product related. The TX made tesla’s were known for uneven gaps, i hope that has been improved.

It's really a myth. For the number of times a pack NEEDS to be fast charged to 100% and it NEEDS to be a FAST charge, it's not a problem. It's like saying you MUST fill your ICE car up every single morning "just in case" you need it. 99.99999% of the time you know the night before that on maybe one day every few weeks you need to be LONG way from home by maybe 11:00 the next day, in which case, the night before you check your journey time, add a buffer and set the charge to complete at that time. It won't hurt the pack. The problem occurs if you leave it sitting on high charge for long periods. Most users will just leave whichever pack they have sitting with sufficient for the next day plus 10-20% and charge every few days. . Just btw, as a business vehicle user, I know when I get home what my next day will require, it's easy to plan.

My plug-in Prius has Panasonic Tesla 18650s lithium cobalt manganese and it goes 12 miles fully charged has approximately 90,000 miles around 40% in ALL EV mode and that’s 36,000 all EV miles divided by 12miles equals 🟰 that’s 3000 cycles multiplied by 320 mile lithium cobalt battery and you get pretty close to 1 million miles with less than 5% reduction of range. This Prius shows no discernible reduction. Just imagine LFP !!! So much safer and reliable and convenient.

Hooray for the damping upgrades. Better high speed compression damping means sharp obstacles and small bumps are progressively dealt with.
@aardque
@aardque 2 жыл бұрын
Um no. How could you possibly "upgrade" a damping, use superior hydraulic fluid? The damping values where "changed," is all. Suspensions are tuned to weight and speed to maintain the cars equilibrium. If you "improve" one aspect, you inevitably reduce another. All you can say is that possibly, Tesla tuned the suspension to more closely match the ride and performance the average customer expects. This is why "tunable" suspensions are considered a luxury.
@eb1888.
@eb1888. 2 жыл бұрын
@@aardque The fluid viscosity is one component. The fluid can be pushed through holes in a valve and modulated by a shim stack with shims of various thicknesses and diameters. I've done this. The difference was massive. The holes in the valve were enlarged and the shim number increased with more thin shims of different diameters stacked in place of a couple thick ones.
@aardque
@aardque 2 жыл бұрын
@@eb1888. not sure you understand. I get that you can change damping. If you make damping stiffer, you can go faster, essentially, at the cost of low speed bumpiness. If you want to drive around town smoothly, then your car will wallow and shimmy in turns, at speed, this is inevitable and there is no suspension, in the world, that can transition from low speed smoothness, to high speed stability, it simply isn't possible. Please don't hit us with some super crazy hydraulic fluid hypothesis. Oils are graded by their ability to resist cavitation, this is what happens inside your damper, when the springs extend after a compression. If they are too slow, the suspension bottoms out and if they are too fast, they oil is literally "torn" into bubbles. More expensive suspensions contain hydraulic fluid that resists cavitation and possibly even has a gas cylinder providing pressure to keep the oil "liquid." All that happened, is that Tesla tuned the suspensions such that the car could provide a sensation of confidence, at the speeds at which the car was capable of travelling. Owners said, "hell no too stiff, I'm not 17 anymore," so Tesla _detuned_ it, made it softer, less safe at speed and you all call it an "improvement."
@eb1888.
@eb1888. 2 жыл бұрын
@@aardque Dear friend, you are a person with no personal suspension tuning experience, it seems. Wallowing is controlled by the low speed damping circuit. This has nothing to do with small bump, square bump high speed damping. High or low doesn't refer to the speed of the car. It refers to the response speed of the damper as it encounters an obstacle(high) or weight change(low). My Model 3 lacks progressive high speed compression and rebound damping. Not enough fluid moves through the valve holes past the flexible shims as the shock compresses. This causes the shock to stop compressing and the tire bumps over the obstacle. This does cause the car to go faster. It causes lack of control and loss of traction in curves. And, of course, you experience a rough ride. The redeeming factor that mitigates this poor quality ride in the 3 and Y is the excellent comfort of the seats. Way better than others I've had. You know the ride is poor but it doesn't reach your body. Kinda weird, actually. I dream of the excellence coming.
@aardque
@aardque 2 жыл бұрын
@@eb1888. Dude, what are you trying to prove? Seriously, you already own a fucking Tesla, or two, or three, you need to own "Suspension Wizardry," as well? "I've never tuned." Stupid me, I sure thought I was, but no you're right, the rat trap rusted crap I tweaked on _never_ amounted to the gold plated bullshit you ride. First you come off saying stronger compression damping is "better," well no, it is simply stronger and considerably "unforgiving" over say, speed bumps, but arguably - which we are witnessing - better at high speed. So what? No, "it's better," you persist. Blow me. Then you expect us to read through your whole mental consciousness stream about seats and your freaking _dreams,_ did we ask what you dream? I dream of the day all Tesla owners look themselves in the mirror and ask why anyone should give a fuck. But do be more self absorbed over your shock absorber BS. @@fannyalbi9040 Elon musk might on the company, but it’s Chinese workers that are actually building car. China has, in fact, tampered with software with software in the past. They have even been caught adding hardware, computer chips, two other products that allowed them a back door to control the product. Now why would China want to do things like that? If you don’t know the answer, you’re either working as Chinese propaganda or your naïve.
