Hi! I just broke down my 20 long and re-did it with some fluval stratum. I'm planning on doing a heavily planted tank and add some shrimp later on. I think those African Dwarf Frogs would be neat, but I'm still just in the researching phase with them. My son has been wanting to get angelfish for a while, but they're kind of intimidating for me. As always my fear is getting a really expensive fish and then I end up killing them.

I’m planning to set up my first ever planted tank this spring! Been planning it out for a while and super excited for my little community tank to finally come together.

Casual is fine, and you don't need to wear makeup. It's the content that matters. I enjoyed seeing your aquaria, and your 20H looked a lot cleaner (i.e. algae-free) than in the past. The Fluval Flex 15 is a good tank. I have one of these myself, and the only mods I did were add-ons to better direct the flow, put finer screens on the back, and to block the back from jumpers. I have a betta, cardinal tetras, Endler livebearers, a nystery snail, a nerite snail and some shrimp in mine and I'm pretty happy with it. I also have a 10 gallon and a 29. No special plans for change in 2023. The objective for me is to keep the fish I have alive and happy.

Odo reminds me of a older dog I was taking care of his last year here. He was 15 and could hardly walk but yet after couple weeks of taking care of him he acted like a puppy he was at heart ❤️ he’d walk with a little hop and would do a little hop off a 3 inch porch and land in the grass. Sadly we had to put him down because he could no longer walk.. miss you Roscoe 😓❤️

Happy Holidays, Irene. I really enjoy this style of filming from you. It's more inviting and has a cozier and more personal feel. I appreciate you welcoming us to your home like that. I have a few opinions to offer with regards to your purchase of the Fluval Flex 15. I love Fluval products and so I've had Specs, Flex of all sizes, Chi, etc. The Flex is a wonderful AIO tank. It is highly customizable and you can find third party made products for it on Etsy. I highly recommend you look through what they have for your customization needs. I suggest you invest in an adjustable pump because the one that comes with the kit can be very strong and loud. I think you mentioned that you have hard water. The mesh that the glass has to hide the water line, which is also all over the back of the tank, absorbs any calcium and hard water deposits so, unless, youre on top of cleaning that off as soon as you see it, it will be really hard to remove even if you use Vinegar or PH down. Normally you would use a razor, but since the mesh is vinyl it'll rip it off. Also, remember that the tank actually has about 12 gallons of usable swimming space, so take that into consideration when stocking the tank. Thank you so much for your videos and have a wonderful new year.

I have 2 tanks. 10 and 20. I moved the Black Flame Endlers to the 20 gallon...mostly females. I left some fish in the 10 gallon and I keep having problems with that fish tank with repeated die offs. To date, no die offs in the 20 gallon and it's massively planted and I use the right type of gravel that is optimal for plant growth. The 10 gallon has the regular gravel so I'm thinking of getting rid of the gravel in that tank and having it bare. I already treated both tanks for the fish wasting syndrome just in case. It's frustrating! I tend to bring the excess stock over to the local fish shop for store credit so I need that 10 gallon tank to be up and running properly.

I haven't had any of your species of killifish but breeding killis is a fun thing to try, I had garderi that bred in some christmas moss but the moss turned out to cause a huge mess and someone did eat most of the eggs/fry before I caught on. Hopefully clown killis aren't known for that and neither are the other inhabitants unless you're pulling and hatching the eggs outside of the tank, though you can raise them in the tank provided there's enough fine cover and you're prepared to accept some losses. Smaller killis do have kinda short lifespans though so I hope you can breed them and get at least a few good generations outta your current stock Other things, I like the video format and don't mind the more casual theme at all so keep doing vids this way if ya like it. Also hope ya enjoy the holidays, i don't celebrate but still hope everyone has a good time. I'll just be working with a new tank setup and watching over my first betta breeding project for the rest of the year into next lol

I'm getting ready to upgrade my ember tetras from a 5g kit rimless tank to a 7g rimless tank. The 7g will go into the same spot as the 5g currently sits. I'm planning to convert the 5g tank into a waterfall terrarium, which will be moved to a table supporting a couple of my larger houseplants (not sure that would take the load of a full aquarium, even one that size, but it should have no problem with the terrarium conversion). BTW, I hear you on the limited number and size of tanks. There are fish I'd love to have again, but I don't have any place to put the larger tanks needed for that yet. In my case, it's a matter of having a blended household. Eventually, I hope the living arrangements will settle out a bit better and I'll have room for at least one larger tank. For now, I'm just utilizing the space I have as best I can. My largest tanks are 2 29g. The rest are 11g and under, strategically placed.

I'm making a pirate ship for my new painted turtle I rescued on October 21st. I live in minnesota and found the turtle when I was filling in stump holes. We grind the stumpthen I take a pitch fork and remove the mulch to fill in the hole with black dirt. When I was leveling the dirt with a rake, I thought I found an agate, but it was the baby turtle the size of a quarter. Now, he is the size of an Eisenhower silver dollar. The center of the hull is close to 35 gal right now, but I still need to make the back and front of it. The hull will have a plexiglass window to see inside, and I'm planning on having a ramp for him to come out of the gallows area of the ship to bask and explore the deck of the ship. The deck will be plexiglass to see into the bottom as well.

My powder blue dwarf gourami Frank has a serious eye injury and hasn't been doing well for over 3 weeks. I treated the tank with erythromycin as a preventative. Hey there, Like the update. My shellies just had their first babies! Got 5 little ones who pop out during feeding time. My kids love them I love watching them in my office. I was sad to hear you were thinking about breaking down your 20-long to breed other things. I'd like to put in an argument for keeping your shellies. I also have a 20 long, my long-term plan for that is to sell babies to the local fish store for in-store credit and then upgrade to a 40 gallon breeder. Put my shellies in there and add some julidochromis transcriptus! They can live in the rocks while the shellies live in the open bottom and both of them can breed! Then I can have two different fish I'm breeding. I'd argue for that for you rather than getting rid of your shellies! Maybe you could add some yellow labs for open water areas if you wanted. Or you could do the Princess of Burundi in the rocks if you don't want the Julies. I'm also thinking about breeding plecos in my second tank. I'm only doing two tanks max. It's a 15-gallon, and right now it's got a sunset honey gourami with some rasboras, ammono shrimp and pond snails.

I have made myself a Hamburg Matten filter. Put a small pump inside it, with a pipe taking the water to the other end of the tank, where it sprays it back into the water, causing additional oxygen generation. 👍 Because it makes quite a bit of noise I'm going to try and use a small external pump and just have the hoses going into the tank! My Cory's love to graze the surface of the filter. 😃 Have you tried these sort of filters. 🤔

I don’t know how you limit yourself to 3 tanks lol. Right now I’ve got my 20g high wild type Trinidadian guppy colony tank along with some shrimp, I’ve got my 5.5g betta tank and my 5g emmersed grow out tank, a currently empty 10g I don’t quite know what I want to do with yet but I’m thinking a trio of pea puffers, a 30g fancy goldfish tank with a pair of rescued fantails in it, a 55g long tank that I’m turning into a large community that currently has 5 khuli loaches, 1 neon khuli loach, and 6 rummynose tetras, I have a small 1g “fishbowl” that only houses a couple micro snails and a few plants, I have a 3.5g cylinder that’s meant for shrimp but currently houses more of a mini ecosystem with micro snails, and finally my newest tank which I’m currently in the process of resealing is a 35g highboy (22”Hx30”Lx12”W) which I’m planning to stock with a pair of angelfish along with a few others when I figure out who will go well with them and whatever their colour palette ends up being.
