This is something I do all the time if I have lumber, dirtbike, atv, ect loaded. You're not going to step on the painted part or it would look terrible in about 1 month.

Not sure why the 5.7 wouldn't be offered still as an option behind a 10spd and a 3.55 gear set. I'm sure it would get 20mpg highway pretty easily. Toyota long ago paid for the 5.7 manufacturing equipment and production so I couldn't imagine it would be untra difficult to do. Ford still offers a V8 along with the v6 options.

16/18/20 for non-hybrid and 22/23/24 for hybrid city/mixed/highway. Those are my estimates based on comparison of consumption of land cruiser 300 and Lexus lx570 where land cruiser 300 is 19% more efficient. I can’t compare to land cruiser 200 because it comes with 4.7 engine instead of 5.7. Hybrids efficiency is based on difference between non-hybrids and hybrids. Usually it is 40% for cars, 30% for sleek suvs and minivans, and maybe 25% for trucks. Hybrids also have less spread between city and highway.

Should have atleast a 10kw battery, better tailgate setup, 2-3kw inverter in bed, normal awd mode. Brand new and behind competition already
@gwot3 жыл бұрын
Toyota is not here to be ahead of the game, and have more gimmicks than the competition. Battery size is really a moot point with a hybrid that the engine will run most of the time, I think they said it can only operate on full EV up to 20 mph. Toyota also said they went with the reliable set up with the tailgate and will not enter a tailgate war. High wattage inverter would be nice, but also a gimmick for marketing more than anything. Majority of jobsite tools are still gas or cordless now, hardly anything is corded, also heard a contractor said for him personally, he needs a mobile generator, something that is not the size of a truck, literally. And it's impractical to run a super long extension. Relying on your truck to be the only generator as a professional is never a good idea. Also, a top end generator is just a few thousand bucks, where as the truck engine and related components is multiple times more expensive. I'd rather run an affordable generator for long hours than run my truck everyday on the job. Most companies are already set up with generators anyway. Auto 4WD mode is nice I suppose, but then again i have working fingers, and I still row my own gears so I don't mind not having it.

I do wish the payload was a little higher, even for the TRD Pro. Never been a fan of the construction of the bumpers. Too many pieces and too much plastic. I think the biggest missed opportunity was the ability to supply power to the electrical outlets like the Fords do.

I am a contractor. I mostly use a small 250watt inverter that was $17 dollars. And for example Milwakee battery charger works with a 100Watt inverter. I love this new tundra, but I wish they would’ve made it a smoother transition in terms of looks, in the sense that you can kind of tell how the different generations leveled up a little bit, such as how the 2000 got a redesign for the 2005, then again for the remodel in 2007 and then again in 2015 you can look at all those trucks side by side and see the differences but at the same time the similarities, and this new one only slightly resembles the old one
@estefano9e3 жыл бұрын
Well they want this design to last for another 10 or more years without old so they had to change it drastically. Look at the new F150, looks great right now but it looks very close to the previous gen, in 5 years when every other design looks super futuristic it will look dated.

@@YerBoyTroy I think you right that it’s comparable value by other manufactures is $65k. (Caugh Ford lariat power boost) I think that would be a bad marketing move by Toyota. Going from a starting price if $50 to $65 might be a bridge to far for most consumers. If they undercut Fords power boost lariat then I would be a conquest sale. Toyota needs conquest sales to survive in the truck world. Toyota only sells 110k tundras. I would imagine the Toyota needs and wants increased market share. marketing teams are smart and know most will buy a Ford Ram or GM of it’s the same price or higher. So $55k would fit that bill.

I have more faith in Toyota making a durable and reliable turbocharged gasoline engine than I do with the Big Three American manufacturers, but I'm still concerned about longevity of turbocharged gasoline engines. As for the hybrid, Toyota does know how to build those better than any other manufacturer. I care almost nothing about styling in buying a pickup, but I have to admit, with this new Tundra, Toyota has joined and now is nearing the lead in the race as to who can make the absolutely ugliest front end on a pickup.
