I sometimes think that designers introduce sharp creases and curves in metal simply because they are now able to....in ways that mass manufacturing would not allow just a few years ago. I never stop smirking every time a PR person says "WE have done" while she has not even driven it, the most the Americans have done is the styling, and the actual construction and production is by the Japanese. Regarding the looks and the size, the second generation is still the best, the first one is ok, but I have always disliked plastic panels on the lower body. The third one was an egg-shaped blob, the fourth one was unnecessary aggressive, this one has too many creases, its styling is too busy without reason.

The only Toyota/Lexus product that appeals to be is the Yaris GR and that won't be coming to the US. In fact, I think all of them are already sold out. The Lexus design language is distinct, just not either beautiful or compelling. Still, they know how to make and sell cars for the masses that want both luxury and reliability. I'd take the new Ionic 5 over any of them. For 45k, it'd be hard to pass up for any Lexus. Your camera shots this time out was really well done, the drone shots especially. Outstanding review but I will say this new RX is definitely a step backwards from the previous model. The engine is designed totally wrong with the turbo setup, it will not last. I'm not sure why they designed it like that. Also, having driven the previous model I can definitely say that the previous model had a much better interior, not sure why they went backwards on this. Lastly by lowering the car you increase underbody damage on America's crumbling infrastructure. This makes sense in Tokyo, this does not make sense in America. It is an outstanding vehicle electronically, and and its exterior is beautiful, but it is not designed for longevity unlike all previous models, that is by far the biggest problem with this vehicle. And I have to question the design of the transmission as well. I guess the Toyota we all knew and loved is now gone. Oh, crisp and firm is not why people bought the RX, Lexus is completely alienating its buyers with this design. RX buters want comfort, NOT sport. This car is simply awful from every single previous RX driver I have talked to. It sucks because now we have to buy European vehicles to aquire confort that have the reliability of a bag of sand as Japanese cars are no longer reliable or comfortable so maybe it's best to stick with older cars... Or buy a ram truck since they are comfortable. Its so sad virtually nothing on the market today is comfortable.
