• On-sale Fall 2024
San Diego, California (April 9, 2024) - For over four decades the Toyota 4Runner has
built an undeniable reputation for adventure. Ready to tackle tough terrain, the 4Runner
has established itself as an off-road icon in North America. For 2025, an all-new Toyota
4Runner takes that identity forward. Staying true to its original concept as an extremely
capable, dynamic, and durable off-roader, the 2025 4Runner opens the window to
bigger worlds with a bold new look, a refined interior with premium materials and
technology, nine grades that include the first-ever Trailhunter and Platinum models, and
Toyota’s latest safety innovations.
The all-new sixth generation 4Runner also raises the bar in terms of go-anywhere
capability. For the first time 4Runner will be available with Toyota’s 2.4 liter turbocharged
i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, standard on the TRD Pro, and first-ever Trailhunter and
Platinum grades. A 2.4 liter four-cylinder i-FORCE engine will be available on the SR5,
TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road and Limited grades. It will also come with 2WD, part-time 4WD
or Full-time 4WD, and an available Stabilizer Bar Disconnect Mechanism.
“This all-new 4Runner has incredible versatility and capability that nicely rounds out our
truck family,” said Dave Christ, Toyota group vice president and general manager. “We’ve
sold over 3 million 4Runners over the past 40 years, and this sixth-generation model
offers a cool new look and incredible features yet retains the rugged style and capability
our customers love about this adventure icon.”

A LOT of choice being offered by Toyota with this size vehicle. The Highlander, Land Cruiser, Crown Signia, and 4Runner are all roughly the same size! Was hoping the 4Runner would have stayed the same size. Hoping Toyota can give us this much choice in a smaller segment! Looking forward to test driving the Limited version.

BIG Toyota Fan here ( I own four). Love this 4 Runner! But, with all the praise I am seeing here, I will play the devils advocate to balance the potential oversights/misses for overlanders, off-roaders and outdoorsman etc.: (a) The roof rack is too short, should have been full length (with or without the sunroof) (b) Can a 35" tire on 17's fit within the wheel wells without sig chops/adjustments? Can a 16" wheel be fitted? Likely no.(c) Approach and departure angles have not improved, perhaps they are sl worse (d) this is too long, should have been sl shorter (e) Tailpipe is way too low and the spare tire location not ideal (f) Hood scoop should have been real this time (g) The hybrid engine bay is a rats nest, nothing can be added to it and you cannot work on the engine yourself (h) The battery pack in the back of the hybrid raises the floor too high and adds more weight to the rear of the vehicle (i) the front and rear fascia are not conducive to adding aftermarket bumpers seamlessly or easily. Again, love the new design, no vehicle is ever perfect for everyone. :)

@pigg20021
@pigg20021 Ай бұрын
$68k easy, plus dealer makeups. Toyota has a strategic way of trimming their vehicles. Offering certain goodies in their TRD Off Road /TRD Pro trims, and refusing to incentivize any of them. And if they are incentivized, you are going to take a hit on the interest rate with great credit. So they will get you either way. You might be better off purchasing the base Land Cruiser, which is basically a 4Runner TRD Pro minus the hybrid powertrain. I saw a very well equipped Land Cruiser at a dealer for $74k.

I love the way the truck looks on the exterior and on the interior. Ots fantastic. I used to have the 2004 small block V8 4Runner for about 10 years and I noticed some similarities in some of the current styling. Bottom line, I'm in love with this truck. Just one quibble....... lately I've been driving the 2023 Highlander and I used to own a 2015 Highlander. In both of these vehicles I had the panoramic roof. I wish Toyota had somehow incorporated a panoramic roof line to allow passengers to have the full 360 View while Trail hunting. After all, Range Rover did it, why can't Toyota do it? Still an awesome looking truck

It's funny and ironic that I delivered a new 2024 4Runner to a customer yesterday before they revealed this one. I cannot fathom trading in a 3-year-old vehicle for one that is essentially 15-years-old and costs $50k, but I think the guy just wanted the long-term reliability of a V6 engine instead of waiting for the new one that has a turbo 4-cylinder. I really liked the new Tacoma when I drove one of those, so this is a huge improvement. I much rather have a turbo engine with more torque. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the large center screen, it is TOO big.

Now you have a under power four-cylinder. 4runner wasnt gonna have trouble selling in slightest, they just dont take risks anymore seeing their demographic on what this is used for. Guess they didnt learn from the four cylinder trucks that are out there today that are having problems. It’s no different than the four-cylinder automatics in the 90s that intern can create more power from shifting yourself 🤦‍♂️ you’ll know what I’m talking about when you get stuck in that heavy vehicle with such a small engine, which is inevitable.

I think it looks pretty good honestly. Still confused how it differentiates itself from the 250 series. It looks massive in the pictures and videos. I think I heard it’s something like 4” longer overall and 2” longer wheelbase. I thought this gen might retain a shorter wheelbase and tidier proportions but it looks like it’s much more 250 like. Curious to see how the pricing works out. Way more overlap I am going to guess. With the Trail Hunter version specifically it seems to really occupy the overlanding space that Land Cruiser was supposed to occupy. Also seems that it will be more capable offroad than the cruiser with more lift and tire sizes which seems a bit odd as it looks to be the same vehicle with different styling. I prefer the Land Cruiser styling more for sure. The 6th gen is super busy looking but I do think it looks better than the 5th gen. Being one of the people who just recently picked up a new 5th gen based on rumors of the 6th gen, I am still content with my choice. I think this new one will be better in paper in every way than the 5th gen but I don’t regret going for the last of the 5th regardless of how pricing works out. I think this will be a sales success. Glad to see it remain in Tahara for production. I have to imagine that it will steal some Cruiser sales. Much respect to Toyota for offering so many solid 4wd options to enthusiasts. 👍

I feel like this is a Tacoma SUV, and the new Land Cruiser is the new 4Runner because it's more boxy.

Unfortunately, this does seem redundant in the Toyota lineup, as the new "Land Cruiser" seems to be the true successor to the outgoing 4Runner.

What does it matter? They need to keep it looking like a 4Runner. Just know that finally it’s gonna have more power, better fuel efficiency, better safety features and more modern cabin. It’s all been updated. What more could you ask for? And oh yeah, let’s not forget it’s gonna be made in Japan.

If you look closely at the angles of the stripes on those textured steps. . . you'll see they're different to reflect light differently & give the 'idea' of the tri-color.

@@Michael-ur5qb oh I 100% agree. I just think it’s funny how all of these automotive journalists complained for the last 15 years about a lack of options on the 4Runner and now it’s all there plus more and no one takes time to acknowledge it. Consumerism is a disease in this country. No one is ever satisfied

That wasnt important on the 4runner. It was mainly the power window. Way too many comments to see that they wanted the power window still.

@@Anomize23 it wasn’t important for me at all, but so many journalists complained for years about the lack of power options on the 4Runner and I’m just pointing out that now all of a sudden it’s not even noticed. I’ve had a 3rd 4th and now 5th generation limited 4Runner and I’ve never been happier. The manual lift gate is one less thing to break later down the road
@Anomize23
@Anomize23 2 ай бұрын
@@quade2692 Oh, I totally understand what you mean by that. I believe it was either the power door needing to be powered or the window and they couldn’t do that once at one point point back then. That was the dilemma if I remember correctly.
