I have first generation yaris. Over 200 000 km. Great little car for short and long trips. The thing I like and new ones don't have is the adjustable back bench. Gives a lot more space in the trunk if needed, and the child seat is still usable. Why they gave up on that is beyond me.
@andrewmoorhouse6875 жыл бұрын
Looks good. More sporty. Pleased to see a manufacturer not make a new generation of car bigger than the previous one. So many cars are just getting larger and larger with each new model. It doesn’t make sense, here in the UK at least, where roads and parking spaces remain small. The increase in wheelbase with more interior room, while slightly reducing exterior size is therefore welcome. Looks an interesting small car, especially in hybrid form. This is definitely a huge improvement from the previous generation which was hideous. I drove it in February on one of my holidays and the only plus was the fuel consumption. Did you notice this is the first 'TNGA' car without an independent rear suspension? Toyota could have left the competition in the dust but they lost their nerve with a cheap rear suspension.

I find it alright to be honest. The targeted audience of the Yaris probably won't be able to tell the difference between an independent rear suspension and torsion beam.
@rightlanehog31515 жыл бұрын
@@Elf1492 That is exactly my point. Toyota could have targeted a much wider audience by being best in class in all aspects of the new design. I wish they had kept the original "French-ified" Yaris HB in the USA lineup. Getting dual Mazda2's as both our Yaris Sedan and Yaris Hatch is too much. I have no complaints about the Mazda2-as-Yaris over here in terms of FTD/handling, but Toyota is the King of Reliability and I wish they had kept one of their own engineered and built cars in the market. That's a very nice, clean, uncluttered interior. I hope the hybrid has better acceleration than the typical down-sized small displacement engines Europeans get stuck with. At least Stateside we don't get anything smaller than 1.5L. In American cities we now have to remove the cargo covers so potential thieves can see it's not worth breaking into an empty car. It's wonderful to see all the blue chassis work. Should make single-car accidents a lot more survivable.
