Pretty unreal that you can fit a guy's losses into one 13 minute video. Cael is a class act and one of the best to ever do it!

Justin Abdou was one of my college coaches. I was wrestling for him when he beat Sanderson. I believe it was at the Sunkist Kids tourney in Tempe. He was "retired" after Sydney and he hadn't been training hard that whole season- this was from my own observations being in the room with him daily- he rolled with some people but he was retired. He went to Tempe purely as a coach, and decided to compete at the last minute, if memory serves me correctly. He came back with a big grin saying he really took it to Cael... something like 7-6. Thanks for mentioning him- one of the toughest dudes you'll meet and a fellow 4-timer (NAIA) with Cael.

The fact that Cael even had a red shirt freshman season surprises some people. He did have a loss his genuine freshman year. The technicality that Paul Jenn was a transfer from a community college doesn't matter. Jenn felt that Cael was weak on his feet and he could easily take him down and he did just that multiple times to win the match. This made Sanderson work even harder on his counters and in their next match a year later Cael dominated so heavily that Paul Jenn was disqualified for stalling (13-1 when ended). Great video!!!

Also a big wrestling fan.....watched Cael wrestle since he was in the 10th grade. Also saw him lose at the Reno T of C when he was in the 11th grade. But I must say, everyone could see he was something special.....win or lose. Saw Gutches beat him in Reno when he was 20. This vid was incredibly well done.....smooth, informative and fun. Thnx

I have a feeling that by the time Cael is done, his renown as a coach will overshadow that as a wrestler. I have coached for 40 years, and don't watch much NCAA wrestling. When I do, it's the finals. Every time I watch, Penn State's wrestlers' style, speed, and tactics scream good coaching....let alone the actual results.

My post keeps getting deleted. Unsure why. I will try again. Cael lost to Paul Jenn (RIP) from Britt, Iowa, who wrestled for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He wrestled unattached, so it didn’t “officially count”, but he did lose to him nonetheless. Cael did avenge the loss later in college.

People try to compare Kyle Dake to a great wrestler like Cael Sanderson! It's disgusting! Dake ducked 5 guys over 3 seasons to win NCAA titles. Yianni Diakomihalis wrestled whoever came his way. Cael Sanderson never gained weight or sucked weight to avoid anyone. Pat Smith, Spencer Lee and Logan Stieber would have wrestled any weight their team needed them to! Legends!!!! GODS!!!!!! I remember that the reason Cael skipped the 2021 Worlds is because it was postponed and due to this it either occurred during the NCAA season or close enough he opted to not go. He was going to compete when it was to occur in Sept in New York City. Of course 911 occurred and then the postponed world championships. MT guy Gutches went and got a silver that year.
