Not just soccer fans. Everyone was on that waka. I recall sitting highschool exams and the school staff had set up a TV in the school hall so students could watch the games in-between exams!

One thing I do remember is the Saudi game watching that incredible first 45 minutes in Riyard .I remember going outside & my buddies from next door & across the road coming out & hugging a screaming at each other ,we scored an unheralded 5 goals . I do however remember my Mum waking & coming outside & screaming "what the Fu&%s going on out here ." OH TO BE A KIWI !

He's trying to be funny. But he's not trying very hard. You'd have to watch the show. The presenter is a comedian... and he blends truth and... humour... in such a way that the audience aren't sure if he's joking or not. (E.g., apparently, Oamaru once had a "Fuckmaster General"!) Because N.Z.'s first goal came with 9 mins 11 secs played, he's trying to relate it to the 9/11 WTC attacks. Ossama Bin Laden was *not* at left back for S.A. in this game. I don't think....
