We’ve had one for several months and love it. Tips: use a set of plastic shims (Lowe’s has them for installing doors) to level the griddle by sliding them under the feet so that you can control the juices. Use a small torpedo level. Clean it hot with a squirt bottle and paper towels held with a set of tongs. Let the hot water and steam do the work! Quick and easy. Follow instructions for seasoning the griddle but be patient. It will take several cookings to get the entire surface seasoned and stick free.

The Blackstone series of griddles are the best. I got my wife a 4 burner last Sept. She LOVES this thing. We usually camp with 1-2 more families and do breakfast together. It would take forever to use the electric skillet to cook 2lbs of bacon then we would have to do eggs after. 45 min to make breakfast... LOL. Now? 2 dozen eggs and 2lbs of bacon is less then 10 minutes on this baby! 60K BTUs of cooking power. LOL Love it! Doc w/ Sleeping Around with the Martin's.

Great share, I was onto the griddle concept starting with RV'ers here on YT first saying that it is best to avoid cooking inside the rig. The amount of splatter and oil vapors that accumulate on everything is worth avoiding - not to mention heat in summertime. Then, the mess of having to load up a grease-soaked grill into/onto the RV immediately seemed to me like a bad way to go. Finally, most things I cook can almost be done better across the board on the flat surface rather than having to get another surface on a grill so small things won't fall through. All meat I cook will have carmelized onions and the griddle surface is great. Not to mention most breakfast items like bacon and eggs do well on the griddle, and so I reduced the number of appliances I need to tote around and clean.

I don’t know how your cleaning this but it’s really simple when your done all you need to do is put about 3 cups of water/ice on top and let it sit for like 5 mins and if you have the griddle pads underneath a scrubber it will come off super easy no chemicals or anything! I worked in food for 12 years and had to clean one 2 times a day for 5 years lol so easy and quick! And yes the foil is always a great idea! Can even cook on top of the foil to not have to clean up! But nice! Love your videos your so easy to understand and are pretty much do what most of us would do cuz who wants to spend all kinds of money on stuff! Your great!!!

Have had a Coleman, original baby q, Weber table top. On our first trip with the 17” and it’s working out great for the two of us. Multiple items on the grill, quick clean up, keeps the mess out of the camper. Didn’t think I would ever find anything I liked better then the baby q, but I think this is it. I read some of the comments and I have something to add. BBQ'ing I agree taste good "when done correctly", that being the key point. I on the other hand can't bbq to save my life. I have the Blackstone 22" and it is the biggest hit at my campsite, you just can't mess things up like you can on a BBQ. So for me, I'll stick to my Blackstone. For those claiming that it's redundant, because you have the same inside, I say no way. The inside is too small and certain things you cook will linger for days, no thanks I'll cook outside. Remember, it's camping. Great review thanks.

We bought a girdle just recently for our first R.V. excursion and used it for almost every meal. We went with the Blue Rhino Razor table top grille and it is just as nice as the Blackstone, maybe even a little better. Can be purchased at Lowe’s for under $100. I even used it to boil water in my tea kettle for my morning coffee. Measures at 19” wide, 15” deep, and 10” tall.

We have an old (12 yrs old now?) Coleman Road Trip grill like Team Jones RV said they have. I like that it has 2 separate burner controls so I can set both sides to different flame heights (or use just one side) depending on what I am grilling / griddling. It is very easy to use and cooks well. I love how portable it is and if I don't have a table to put it on I just set it on the stand. It does break down to a manageable size for storage/travel (and came with a nice storage case with wheels) but....even when broken down it is much larger than the one you have so it takes up more room in the basement of an RV. But, for now, if it ain't broke I'm not going to worry about fixin' it. Appreciate the review on the one you have. Now that it's just the two of us, when we go full time we just may look at getting a smaller grill because when we become full timers space will be at a premium.

I don't even carry a portable grill. I bought a set up 20+ years ago that has a long rod you drive into the ground next to the fire. It has an arm with a grill, similar to the old charcoal grills use to have. The height adjusts and swing in and out over the fire. I do carry a Camco Big Red portable Campfire since we're encountering more fire bans. If I'm gonna use a grill, I'd just use an electric one. (own an all electric motorhome)

I have the Coleman and I have worn it out. I have the griddle, grates and the pot attachments. It has been reliable and worked well. When I bought it 6 or 7 years ago it was the bomb, but it is showing its age...igniter does not work and one of the burners needs replacement since it has some rust holes (salt from boiling peanuts leaked..my fault, not the product). I looked at parts for it and they almost added up to a new unit. Thought I would see what else is out there..... Introduce the Blackstone 22" (not the 17"...22" has two H Burners where the 17" has one...thus it cooks hotter across the whole surface area) It has a bigger cooking surface, has a stand that you can level AND is a damn site easier to clean. Cooking breakfast is easier, burgers are the bomb and I dont have to deal with all the grease falling through the grates. For steaks the taste is no better than the Coleman, but if I have the time I use my charcoal grill...'cause the taste is superior. I carry the 22" Blackstone and a Charcoal grill...if you want the taste, you cook with Charcoal. With the Coleman I had the grill and a separate box with all the other cooking surfaces so the Blackstone actually takes up less floor space in my front storage. Downside...when it is cold, I can close the lid on the Coleman and retain some of the heat, but with the Blackstone I would guess this will be a problem and may make it harder to cook items evenly.....just a thought.

Like sand in your bathing suit at the beach! The grill looks awesome! I will sure check it out. Are you able to bring a pot to boil on it? We enjoy doing seafood boils however it’s best to do that type of cooking outside when possible. How about a truck tour?

We prefer our Coleman road trip. I’m not saying anything bad about this unit. However I have the best of both worlds. I can cook pancakes on the griddle or steak on the grate. Or I can make coffee or sauté mushrooms. I prefer flame over fried. Just my preference is all. But this is definitely a nice griddle.
@AllAboutRVs6 жыл бұрын
Nice! Sounds like you have a great unit!

A simple griddle pan over a charcoal grill , camp stove, or concrete fireplace works great for cooking certain foods but not for cooking a whole chicken , chicken parts, corn on the cob , etc. Some prefer the taste of charcoal cooked foods. Those little propane bottles don't last long for cooking. Charcoal grills need to have provisions for adding coals for cooking chickens etc. slowly. Nice thing about propane, don't have to douse the coals or wait for cooker to cool off to dispose of burned coals, clean and put the cooker away. Be very careful disposing of burned charcoal to avoid starting a fire.

We use a Weber Q200. Blackstones apparently have a very good reputation but to me they are just a griddle...essentially, a frying pan, not a BBQ that I prefer. Your can put a griddle pan on a BBQ but you can’t use a griddle like the Blackstone as a BBQ.

Good review, but it ain’t for us. Our motorhome came from the factory with a large griddle type of gas grill that attached to the side of the RV. It produced no smoke, so there was no BBQ taste. Not to be a Debbie a downer. But what is the point? You have a gas grill in your Rv where it is temperature controlled. Why go outside to cook on the same type of fuel? And fight bugs and wide range of weather and temperature range? Now if you were using pellet BBQ or charcoal. I can see why. Would you do this at home with a electric range? Cook with the same stove outside in the back yard? Other than being social with family and friends seems pointless. With old fashion charcoal and today's pellet BBQ's. Its would make sense to cook outside. With most brands of pellet BBQ's and Charcoal BBQ's making travel size options I would love to see #All about RV's, #Keep Your Day Dream, #Long Long Honey Moon.#Less Junk more Journey and #RV Geeks try one of these options and give a review. You guys inspire me and my wife and make us want to RV more more with all your great episodes. In August we will be getting out new #Outdoors RV trailer. And the tips and advice you all have given has made us feel more ready than ever to get out there and have fun.!
@swordofgabriel6 жыл бұрын
Love you guys and watch all the time and my question is....But why??? Isn't this the same as cooking in a cast iron skillet on the range inside? Guess I'm just a charcoal guy at heart and it's not grilling/BBQ'ing unless you're using it. It's a flavor thing! All the points you made about the griddle are excellent but "to me" you just moved the range outside with all the mosquitoes...LOL!
@AllAboutRVs6 жыл бұрын
Yes, this would be very similar to cooking on a cast iron skillet inside. For us, taking it outside eliminates a lot of heat that would be being produced inside.
