I have their older, discontinued briefcase-style griddle and still use it every camping trip. Comes with screw-on legs that attach to the bottom stowed, so you can use it free-standing or on a table.

Once again, spot on review Tom. Most people associate portable with a smaller, compact unit. However, weight is a factor too. Blackstone got "portable" right with this griddle and they also did a nice job with shielding those burners from the wind.

I had one for about a week, while I loved it, the reason I returned it was because the lid support arm broke on me. I think that this area could use a lot of improvement, I would have added another lid support on the other side as well, other than that Blackstone hit the mark on this lightweight griddle.

Nice example of thoughtful industrial design. I really like how even the heat distribution on the cooking surface is. Instead of calling it a suitcase design, I would be tempted to call it a briefcase model.

I would love to do that as the coating started coming off after about 20 cooks. I babied it and only used silicone utensils. I was thinking about sandblasting the top.

I ended up getting a Camp Chef Everest 2X and their griddle top. Not as big as this but I can use pots and my cast iron skillets too. Great for camping.

You said about leaving the regulator outside after using because of the griddle being to hot to handle. DO THIS! Get yourself a 2 pack of the ceramic MAGNETS at harbor freight and put those magnets on the right side of the unit. Leave them there. Then when you close the unit up while hot you put the regulator ON THE MAGNETS and go about your business. I have been doing this on a Camp Chef Stove for years because you cannot lift the HOT GRATE to store the regulator inside... So I store it on the outside on the magnets!!!
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ4 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! Didn’t think the regulator was steel. I’ll give this a try. Thanks!

I want to get one but my wife, who does most of the cooking on our existing Blackstone is just turned off by cooking on a nonstick surface. Might as well just cook on a gas stove with a teflon frying pan, she says.

@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ The one that hold the lid propped up.
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ3 ай бұрын
Ok, not a hinge, but it works well, 2 as always would be better. A fair amount of dis-like for this griddle which I dont understand, for the price with 2 SS steel H burners this griddle operates very well and is truly the most portable one I’ve ever reviewed.

I had one but returned it. Build quality was seriously lacking.paint peeling, feet screwed in wobbly, grill was a pain to remove and the mechanism seemed weak, lid hinge that kept it open was poorly made. Ignition worked sporadically . The last straw was the handle breaking when I was lifting it up.
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ4 ай бұрын
Wow! Thanks for watching Frank! I haven’t had any of those issues, as I stated in the video removing the griddle and replacing it does take some practice but once one understands how it works, it’s pretty easy. The rest of your concerns I haven’t noticed, but time will tell
@frankmacaluso26954 ай бұрын
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ I’m still annoyed that I had to return it and I left out the good points of this grill. It cooks great. For the size and price there are not too many portable cooking systems that can push the amount of food you can cook on the camping Blackstone. If they get the kinks worked out on a second gen version I will buy it again.
@tomworkman32194 ай бұрын
Tom, I am not familiar with a titanium coated flat top. You made no reference to seasoning so I assume this design does not require it to be seasoned. Is this correct?
