Sir your videos are very helpfull for quick revision...thankyou sir Just one silly mistake: 2 x 10^6 - 8 Asc + 278.05 Asc shall be 270 Asc rather than 286 Asc (though that won't alter our final design)

There is correction in IS code 14:50 Pitch>diameter is not less than 6mm

please solve below problem Design a rcc column for rectangular cross section subjected to a load 750 kn. consider steel 1% of gross area. use m20 and fe 415 material consider one side of column 300 mm.

Sir why are we taking area of column 500×500 coz practically uski depth bhi toh hogi and area of cuboid ka formula nhi lgna chahiye same for reinforcement area????

Area will be always calculated in m2 or mm2

@@structuralanalysisanddesign sir as per IS 456 minimum eccentricity is minimum from (1- Leff/500+lateral dimension /30 , 2- minimum eccentricity is 20 mm ) why you don't check which is minimum ? and after calculating eccentricity why you don't chack as per IS code ( page 71) ( emin

Sir this checking of 0.05D seems flawed which you did at 07:40. In example, if we consider a column of 230x230mm, then 0.05D is equal to 11.50mm only. This is less than 20mm, so what does this mean? Does it mean we cannot use 230x230 column without even analyzing? Nothing else has been considered yet, like the load, or the height of column, so why using this checking method. There are literally millions of homes build on 230x230 columns designed by structural engineers.

Yes you seems to be right. According to this 0.05D checking, only the column size bigger than 400mm is acceptable. But in the world, there are so many columns that are smaller than 400mm x 400mm. This is really strange. i hope the admin can respond to this flaw.

Sir in actual we will not have the size of column then how to take the size of column.in actual we can claculate load coming to column, we can use grade of concrete and steel what we want and rest nothing will be given then how you took the size of column as 500*500.sir thank you very much your videos are so helpful for structural engineers🙏🙏🙏

I apologize for the mistake and also answer would have come 370 and minimum Asc is 2000 so we had to take min Asc, sorry for the inconvenience

Sir as per is 456, p49 Minimum stirrup dia should be 16mm but you consider 6 mm? Is that is 456 printing mistake?

🔴Column Diamension are given in problem so we can assume Asc = 1% of Ag That is 0.01x(500×500) So we can get directly 8 bars requirement
