im the other guy in the video, i saw allot of questions about why we are tagging them and its pretty simple, we are tagging alligator gar to help study and understand growth rates and population density, we are using a publicly available tagging system that way anyone who catches these fish can help get as many of these fish tagged as possible.

You channel came up on my FB feed as a "suggested for you". I can't believe I hadn't found it before now. I was able to spend several weeks staying with friends in Burkville (Lowndes Cty, Alabama) back in late 2015 and their home sat only a few feet from the bank of the Alabama River. I'd never heard of much less seen an alligator gar until that trip so seeing them cruise along near the surface was amazing. The size of the catfish there was also a huge eyeopener. We get a lot of cats here but they are a protected species and are tiny in comparison to yours.
