love those big thick rads , reminds me of the brass rads on the cars they built in the 40's 50's

Thank you - for some reason, I really like that electric metallic blue. Looks good with the aluminum 👍

thanks as always Jerry. I have to do our grand caravan radiator. Looks like these guys are too high end for that though, they don't have it. That car looks amazing.

The guitar 🎸 intro is the "CLIFF'S NOTES" version of "Eruption" by Van Halen. But the radiator will have you chilling 😎 like Vanilla ICE 🧊

What is the average thickness of car/truck body panels
@LakesideAutobody4 ай бұрын
22-20 gauge that's about .030" - .035" In the old days it was much thicker - like 20's 30's 40's

@@LakesideAutobody Haha just like house electrical boxes. The new ones are almost like tinfoil, and the pile in my basement from the 70s are like, well, I know I can stand on one and it doesn't bend. They almost look like double the thickness. Pretty amazing how those bean counters make the engineers help them pinch the buffalo.

Did you do that to keep it more original than to upgrade it just curious 🤔
@LakesideAutobody4 ай бұрын
Trying to keep it close to original. The OEM radiators are very expensive - like $7-800
@sociopathicnarcissist88104 ай бұрын
Why did you go with the original fan and shroud rather than the electric fans, I would have thought that you would have more control over the temperature with electric fans and a thermocouple.
@LakesideAutobody4 ай бұрын
I try to stick close as I can to original - probably out of fear of something not working right. I get what you're saying though. Where would you screw in the temp sensor switch?
@sociopathicnarcissist88104 ай бұрын
@@LakesideAutobody It is going to depend on how you are managing the engine, ie, digital or analogue (it is not clear in the engine bay). If it is an ECU, you could sleeve the intake pipe into the Radiator and place the ECT Sensor there and provide that input back to the ECU. If it is analogue, then you could tap the thermostat housing and use a preset ECT sensor to turn on the fans. However, I expect that you may install A/C, if that is the case, then a Trinary switch module would control both engine temp and the A/C compressor, making your decision more straight forward.
